@DJB Loving this synth already.
I noticed that with notes held down using built-in keyboard, the sound often cuts off while altering VCO parameters (noticed it with the 6 knobs on right of VCO waveform display). Seems OK with AUM keyboard.
What's your preferred channel for bug reporting?
Wow, holy heck, instabuy, dang it. Yes..!
Dang it, since 5 mins before I saw this thread I was complaining about too many apps in another thread. Lol. Already Purchased. Awesome.
OK, this thing is really, really, really deep.
Since Spawn in Magellan I have not heard a randomizer sooooo goooood!!! Almost every randomization is a winner. Amazing!!!
I think the little keyboard icon needs to be turned off to avoid retriggering… I think.
Randomizer is cool but looks like I did manage to generate a CPU killer…
Haha, fun stuff. Just doing basic stuff, though, impressed with how low it stayed.
Buuuut…after a couple hours, not sure if this one will stick with me, as much as I’d like it to. I’ll save detailed criticisms for now until I feel like I’ve spent enough time with it for it to feel totally comfortable, but there’s this overriding feeling that there’s that certain something, whatever that thing or combination of things may be, that’s missing.
Ouch! Which iPad is this on?
2017 base model. I can load lots of instances and play tons of notes with the preset library patches. This does just seem like a buggy patch got generated with the randomizer. The app is quite crazy good on CPU it seems.
I used the really cool randomization function to get a very nice new patch, tried to “Save A Copy” and it failed to save it. It defaulted to the prior sound patch even though I renamed it and it saved under the new name. The new sound did not save.
Anyone else try to save a new patch using the standalone or AUv3 in iOS on iPad?
I think I found out where the problem is…
@DJB… As soon as you try to save the new sound by tapping on the “hamburger menu” it deletes the new patch and reverts to the default patch.
I am slowly turning my entire IPad/IPhone combo into Toneboosters headquarters. Every time I download a new one it makes me realize I can get rid of a bunch of other apps.
This is quite a synth. I can’t wait to hear what other people are able to create using it.
Small bug. Changing color doesn’t seem to change the color of part (layer 2). At least, I adjusted my lfo speed then tabbed back to the osc section, and they weren’t consistent.
Depending on which of the 5 main tabs you change the color theme on, it may or may not apply across the other tabs.
Is @Samu awake? He’s been talking about this synth for months.
Hope he truly enjoys it.
I’m still tryin, but I’m just not digging the sound of these saw and square waves, nor the filters, especially with resonance.
Toneboosters still rule though!
Have you perused every included patch yet? There’s some really interesting stuff going on in there.
The color theme reverts back to default when I close the app anyway.
Easily the most inspiring and interesting synth I’ve messed with in a long while. I’m instantly loving this. This machine has a ton of potential. So far it’s one of those things that feels second nature intuitive. Immediately got into creating and it is all sounding good and ideas are flowing right out of the gate. I’m happy. Real happy with this. Good work again ToneBoosters.
The sequencer is sweeet!
Yeah, I thought the presets were very lacking as well. But it really just comes down to the sound. The square waves especially. They are indeed square waves according to the oscilloscope but they sound so…un-analogish and soft. Same for the saws really. While the fidelity is there, the tones are not for a virtual analog.
In honesty, it’s a solid effort that, based on their past stuff, I thought and hoped would be a new staple. Reality is though, it’s not gonna displace Zeeon, mood, even Continua (and naturally the Moogs), nor the TAL Juno or OB-Xd. I don’t feel like I’ve gained anything from buying. But I’m happy to throw a few bucks their way based on other releases.
Ah yes that's intended behaviour. You can save the default settings including color themes using the hamburger menu.
Also: part two will always have a different color compared to the other tabs - that's not a bug. It should allow you to easier recognize whether you're working on part one or two based on color.
@oat_phipps: Sorry to hear you're not digging the sound of some of the waveforms; as you mentioned based on your oscilloscope measurements the waveforms at least should be what they are supposed to be. Might give the formant filter a go; we thought it was quite unique and gives quite some clarity of the formants compared to other formant fiters out there...
Cool, I thought the differentiation might be intentional, but it seemed weird to me at the time and behaving differently depending on which tab I changed the color from. It does make sense to do it that way for each layer.
And yeah, it’s not for me, but the quality is there and your reputation remains sterling in my book. I thought the UI was very good, quickly adaptable, and I usually dont like multi-page synths past 2 screens.
That's great to hear. If there is a way to more clearly describe how you'd like the square waveforms to look like or sound like; we could put some effort in to add one or more new VCO waveform types that produces a different version of the square that has a different character/sound. Any qualitative or quantitative input to help with that would be great!
I love it, but I’ve noticed one issue particularly when twiddling and sound designing. In standalone, not every time but a decent amount when adjusting a knob or parameter and holding down the keys at the same time, the keys and sound just cutout, and you have to repress them. This is a definite issue, but I’m sure TB will handle it. I’m on iOS 14.7.2 I think, the most current one. Ipad 6.
Haven’t read thread, anyone else noticed this?
Is there a manual?
@DJB Kudos on the app size and cpu demands. So far I love it. The random feature generates great stuff. Congrats!
Other then that just the possible bug I mentioned two posts ago. Well Done.
Thank you.
Nice, thank you. I need to read the manual.
This is a beautiful synth, I love the UI. I've been checking every day to see if it has been released but was still surprised to see it in the app store today. Congratulations!
