If you have projects in Loopy HD or if you use any of the small number of features that haven't yet made their way to Loopy Pro ( they will soon) you might need it still.
I don’t know what this is, but I know a genius made it. 🥳😘👍🙏
To follow up on my earlier question, if I record a 5 bar synth that’s 4 bars with a 1 bar tail, can I set the loop point of 4 bars but the 5th bar will overlap the beginning when I loops around, or does the tail need to be recorded into the audio? I figure the tail can play out when I end the loop, but that only takes me so far. On my Octatrack, I have to use different slices of files to mimic the tail wraparound. If LP can do this, I’m in.
Yes

so does your launchkey mini auto map. if not , how do you map midi controllers to clips, and transport?
@slicetwo
If you move the end marker, everything after it is the outro which can be blended as it loops or played only when the clip stops at the end
Holy smokes. That is perfect! It’s literally the one thing that all the different devices I’ve looked at for my particular purpose don’t do! Amazing.
Truly this is unreal.
@espiegel123 it’s not actually working for me, but I’m also having trouble setting it up. I load in a loop with a tail that I know the tempo of, but when I try to set it all up, the master and loop tempos keep changing, and when I try to drag loop points, it starts to seemingly cut and paste the loop onto itself. I have no idea what’s going on. Haha.
If I remember correctly, when importing a loop, you need to set up the tail before you hit the import button. I think I remember that if you adjust the loop after importing, the outro part doesn't work. Apologies if I misremembered that.
I couldn't adjust it at the time but it is more than likely I wasn't rotating far enough. Just now I realized it is almost a full doughnut rotation before the volume control appears.
Waveform appearance issue is as you described. Also finding that it's a bit touchy and quite often activates an overdub.
How do you ‘set up a tail before importing’?
also can you make the clip colors in loopy change the pad colors on launchkey mini ?
Loopy doesn't know about Launckeys - LaunchPad Pro, LaunchPad X -- I am not sure if LaunchPad Minis are handled
Can confirm LPminimk3 works. Layout of the note and cc numbers for pads are identical to an X, just a different sysex string to kick it into session mode.
Try setting the ‘record tail’ option in recording settings and see what happens. It should record your 4 bars and the tail, and blend the FX tail into the start of the next cycle every time the loop plays. The option has text that says ‘plays at end’, but in my experience this means the tail will be blended into the start of the loop every time it cycles back around, not just after you deactivate the loop.
The only thing I’m not sure about is how long this tail can record for, in that I have no clue if Loopy Pro is listening for a particular volume threshold before stopping, or has a cut off time. @Michael ?
Sorry, I wasn’t very clear there. Typing in my iPad never goes too well.
As you import an audio clip, if you move the end marker left to shorten the sample so that there is leftover audio at the end, you get a toggle for “Import Outro“.
Before Trimming:
After Trimming:
If you don't do this before you import the sample, you can't set the outro to play afterward, even if you shorten the sample and toggle the option to play the outdo.
I believe this is a bug. I reported it during the mad rush at the end of the beta and will bring it up again as @Michael dives into post-release cleanup.
Possible to setup default project?
I think that is coming along with some sort of template mechanism. In the meantime, I have a few projects that I duplicate to create new projects.
Not yet, but I believe that's coming.
Just a little motivation for you all. If I can do it so can you. I held out for 2 days. Feeling pretty in control of my domain right about now.
@espiegel123 @wim That's good to know. I am only recording through the iPad mic at present and need to put a gate on the input.
Yes. If you are hosting in Audiobus and still use IAA there is no way to route different loops to different effects due to lack of multi routing in AB.
I know that’s possibly very niche but I cannot recreate my current HD set up with the new loopy.
I am experiencing quite a lot of random crashes of Koala in LP. Anyone else? Can’t put it down to a particular action, unfortunately. But it’s happened multiple times now, which is unfortunate because everything needs to be remade if I didn’t save the song in Koala.
You are not alone. What hardware are you running on? What is the total length of the samples loaded in Koala?
It looks like this got broken at some point...it was working a few weeks ago but seems to have become broken. I am sure it will get fixed...record tail is working and will properly blend the outro it creates when looping and at loop stop.
Thanks @espiegel123
Right now, I’m just playing around with a kit of 16 samples. However, they all have a bit of a tail, so probably 30 seconds in total.
30 seconds should be fine. What device are you running on?
What’s the best way to host Koala in LP and be able to live-record little voice snippets into Koala at will, to then put together into a loop in LP? Is it putting it on a bus and then sending the mic signal to it? I can’t seem to figure out another way. Adding Koala directly as an input doesn’t let me record into it, as it’s not picking up the mic input. However, adding it on a bus channel and sending mic signal to it seems to make the recording a bit laggy.
I’ve tried adding it as an Effect on the mic input channel and I can then record into it (I can see the waveform), but then pressing the pads doesn’t produce any sound. EDIT: Ah, maybe I should try this using headphones, as I’m having to be monitor off at this point with the internal mic!
iPad Air 2020.
Another issue occurred. I’ve set up a session with drum fills that then are given “follow actions” to return to a main beat when they are done with their loop. Here’s a video of the problem. Fill 1 is linked with Drum 1 & Fill 2 is linked with Drum 2. When I press Fill 1 after playing Drum 2, there is no problem. It performs its “follow action” correctly, but if I press Fill 1 after playing its “companion”, Drum 1, it stops. Same with Drum 2 and Fill 2.
