    It doesn’t cost any money… ;-)

I’m not particularly bowled over by this one (reminds me of all those NI Kontakt based instruments which I find a bit boring tbh)

But Arturia have got a good track record of giving away really good stuff for free. The recent lo-ti tape plugin was free for a while and I love it. I also got The Juno chorus and something else free I can’t remember at the moment as I ended up getting the whole fx collection. So The free arturia stuff ended up costing me a lot of money so if that’s what you meant I’m in agreement!

Having bought Neutron elements as part of a bundle a while back I think free is a bit too much for it tbh. I would actually pay to not have the iZOtope manager app thing on my computer. There are a lot of bad ‘manager’ apps but the Izotope one takes the biscuit. Soooo bad.

It's a new merger of Plugin Alliance, Native Instruments and Izotope called Soundwide - they're celebrating with some great freebies but I hope it doesn't make a difference to their apps and plugins in the future...

There are some pretty nice plug-ins there; And an Izotope!

Isn't Neutron Elements always free though? Izotope don't seem to be entering into the spirit of this celebration...😉

🤣 Precisely, they went with a kind-of throwaway product

I hear you and raise you Native Instruments ("yes, you do need to re-download every single expansion individually, even though you should be able to simply move them to your desired new location, because even though we are a German company we are just too lazy to extend the functionality for those") and IK Multimedia (need I say anything?) ;)

Haha. Yeah. IKMs is also very bad. But stil better than Izotopes which is such a car crash of a bad app I’ve actually deleted it along with all my izotope plugins.

Not only is it badly designed (They've even remapped ⌘Q to "Close" instead of "Quit" to disingenuously keep the bug-fest running in the background when you think you've quit it!) but it's horribly unreliable too. It's unresponsive, keeps hanging up, kills the CPU doing nothing other than displaying it's menu bar icon (!) and it can't queue downloads. The last time I used it it wouldn’t launch properly and finding a download for it on Izotopes website took far too long. To sum up the laziness of Izotope they have FAQ pages telling you to download the manager app thing but they couldn’t be bothered to include a link to a page where you could actually download it. They just don’t care.

Uninstalling all my plug-ins with it was just as bad an experience; Again no batch uninstall so you have to sit there for ages and keep track of the individual uninstaller apps as the main app hasn't a clue what's going on (seriously; It asks you to tell it when it's done uninstalling and even warns you not to tell it it’s done unless it has actually finished!!).

And nearly half the uninstallers didn't even launch so I had to go and manually remove all traces of Izotope from my HD by hand. Seriously awful app made by devs that clearly just couldn’t give a shit.

It was quite satisfying getting shot of them all!

I thought I'd get use out of Ozone Elements but I could never get anything good sounding out of it that I couldn't improve on with stock Logic Plug=ins or T-Racks. User error maybe but I never actually enjoyed using it either.

I like a lot of the IKM stuff I have just about enough to put up with their shitty product manager app… for now!

Zynaptiq Morph is on sale at 42% off. (Now I see Melda has put their Mmorph at 50% off.)

    Anyone have the Zynaptiq ?

I have it, but didn‘t spend much time with the current version yet.
Tbh I liked (and used) Apesoft‘s Sparkle much more.
(reason: they threw it on top of the ZAP bundle together with UnMixDrums as an end of year goodie when I bought ZAP)

Sparkle is one of my favorite apps. It takes some time to get familiar with it‘s specific artifacts, so you know how to avoid some over the top results. Then it can deliver quite some tone quality, considering the depth of processing applied. B)

🙏Thank you!! I work in Apematrix on iOS and love it, don’t even have or need AUM so I will check it out now. Didn’t know about it, gotta look more closely at all Apesoft.

Edit update: Been playing with Sparkle for a while, great suggestion, gonna save the $95 and hold off Zynaptiq for now. I forget that Apesoft and Amazing Noises are related… makes sense, both are great.

i feel you. i have izotope stuff so i am also a beneficiary of their hub app. Awful indeed. You have compiled a pretty exhaustive list of their crimes; the only thing I can add is the My Account section on their website where they clearly do not acknowledge the products you already purchased and registered right there on the website, and as a result they don't only not offer any upgrade discounts but are actively trying to sell you, as a "personal offer", the exact same stuff they already list in your account... 🥴

  • INA GRM 50% off buying stuff through their website.

    Very experimental stuffs.

Cons is that you have only 1 license in Ilok.

  • @Jumpercollins Bitwig is so awesome. I bought it second hand a month ago and I’m totally in love. I kind of gave up hope that iPad DAWs will catch up 😞 Surprisingly I don‘t miss my iPad apps very much. The stock synths and effects are pretty good. Mostly I’m missing the more crazy and creative plugins. Integrating the iPad works well with my iConnectivity Audio 2+ and hosting plugins in AUM. The hybrid tracks are perfect for using with iPad synths. The modulation and the Grid of Bitwig is just pure awesomeness. I also really love that in a track’s device section you can layer and chain anything (synths, effects, midi effects) and then save the whole thing as a device preset.

The splice offer is just great to check it out. 8-Track is too limited not only because of the max 8 tracks. If you still like to use desktop I can wholeheartedly recommend to give a shot.

  • I love bitwig too. I find rhe sampling process convoluted compare to koala and drambo, but for anaything else, it’s a joy to jam with.

  • It's difficult not to 'collect' all of PureMagnetik plugins (I only have 9), and they're unique and fun, but are they 1-trick-ponies? And are you finding a lot of overlap?

I'm finding many of PureMagnetik's 'specialty' effects already exist in Native Instruments' Reaktor User Library, and some are decades-old but still work in Reaktor 6. Plus with Reaktor, you can add modules, blocks, UI panels, etc. to make it your own.
