I don't really understand the scam and run accusations. To my knowledge, their software was top quality (O've heard people rave about their modular for years). Why would a company go to such lengths to do such a great job, if they were just looking for a quick cash-grab. Moreover, the fact that (in the case of LL) we're not talking about a huge amount, just makes the idea even less believable.
There's a big logical disconnect here. The app did work when it was released. The app reviewers did not pass an app that crashed on startup in standalone. They didn't approve an app that had a non working IAP restore. They passed a fully functional app that broke at some point later on as the result of an iOS update.
That's an unfortunate and frustrating situation for sure. But how would you have Apple prevent that as you're saying they should? To do so they would have to retest every single app on the App Store prior to releasing every single iOS update. That's a practical impossibility.
(I'm assuming you installed the app on a later version of iOS and/or newer hardware that wasn't available at the time of the original release. If not, then ignore all that I just said.)
I'm not defending the developer here, just commenting on the impossibility of Apple assuring that all apps will always work on all versions of its operating system.
They probably do think that. And that is the problem. They don't know, and they are wrong. I would be fairly certain that demos would result in fewer sales (that is certainly the case for me) so I have a theory why they don't do it. Admittedly there is more to it than just that (i.e. the development and associated cost of a demo) One example was when I was trying to find an app to play audio from Files (don't ask, don't suggest, I wanted something specific). There are heaps (HEAPS) of apps that say they do this. Of the many I downloaded only 3 did close to what they say. I tried to get a refund on the factual basis that the did not work as expected. I expected them to work as stated in the description. They didn't. Apple refunded none of them. About 6 apps, that were just shitty products with lies for a description.
Is there any "report form web page" where you can send a warning message to Apple about fraudulent apps?
Isn't that funny that precisely the ones defending here an unethical practice from this shady developer @pulsarmodular are precisely the ones who did NOT bought their apps? 😄 I wouldn't be surprised if the same developer has already answered here with an alias name defending himself! 😄 as some of the answers supporting this dev have extra details that only people close to the dev would know, anyway, have fun defending him here, I personally will keep exposing him on other places and for sure will NEVER buy ANYTHING from this scammer again... And for the hipsters that think that being a "boutique or niche" equals more quality you're wrong again, anyway, have fun supporting the perpetual scam of releasing unfinished and unreliable apps and devs that are only interested on quick money grabs 🙂
I don’t see anyone defending unethical behaviour. What is happening is that people are offering suggestions and possible explanations for an event that nobody but the developers really know the truth of. You, on the other hand, seem to have no interest in the truth of the matter. You've already judged them as guilty of whatever you have decided, and have no interest in the fact that you could possibly be spreading a complete load of nonsense.
Nobody is saying you shouldn’t be upset. But perhaps you should show some actual proof before making claims of guilt.
And being 'boutique' (Isn’t that the majority of iOS developers?) is no guarantee of quality. But I'd say (and I'm not the only one), that their apps do happen to be of very good quality. If you hadn’t thought so, then I’m not sure why you’d pay for the upgrade
And no…I didn’t buy the upgrade. I don’t have much money for apps, and in this case I found the free offering to satisfy my needs. Who knows…at some point in the future, and with more disposable income, I certainly would’ve paid to support the developers had the app made it into my recordings.
As for you never buying from them again? Haha…we’ll see. I've seen such declarations many times over the last couple of decades. It normally only takes a really killer app or a decent sale price for people to back down
SEE? 😄 as I said: The ones who did NOT bought it are the ones quickly defending this SCAM!!! 😄
There’s no gotcha, here. Only the slightest modicum of empathy is all that’s needed in order to understand the frustration of those who bought the app, or even just those who heavily relied on the free version, who now probably have countless projects that need re-working.
But none of that has anything to do with your accusations of a scam, which seem pretty ludicrous…especially in light of the fact that the so-called scammers are still in public view, still communicative and seem to still have an intention to return to the scene at some point.
Damn it, you're right
I'd love to completely blank this Dev from now on but I'm such an app hoar I'd probably give in. God I'm so weak 😭
Whatever makes you happy troll 😄 look someone else to engage with, you're too desperate for attention as you don't contribute with anything else than supporting a SCAMMER while at the same time not even buying their faulty apps, BYE! 😄
I have tried until my energy is spent. Talking to Apple support is like arguing with a wif, umm I mean wall.
I bought the upgrade. And why not. It was (is?) a great product. Just turned out it might as well be shit on a stick sold as a lollipop.
Comrade, is this making you feel any better? Tilting at windmills and seeing conspiracies everywhere? Attacking people who are trying to see your side? Your projections — everyone else is a hipster troll amateur confined to his bedroom! — are baffling.
And you keep saying BYE and yet….
I bought the IAP as soon as it was released and was super hyped for more from the dev. I was and still am pretty bummed that I won’t be able to restore the IAP. That being said, the reaction here is fucking nuts 🥜
Any chance that the developer would be open to fixing the IAP issue are surely long gone since the mob mentality picked up so quick and (imo) they have been getting a lot of unjustified abuse. I am not saying what they did was right or that they couldn’t have handled it in a better way but as wrong as it is for a developer to pull an app from the App Store, it doesn’t justify some of the wild temper tantrums being thrown here with the abuse and accusations.
Yes it’s annoying and far from ideal but if you really cared about finding a solution, you would not resort to abuse and slander as a first attempt at achieving that. Let’s not forget…the IAP was €10. The amount of stress and frustration some of you are putting yourselves through (over something relatively small) isn’t healthy or productive.
I never really reach out to devs unless prompted but this thread is almost forcing my hand because I have a genuine desire and hope for some sort of solution or to see then back on iOS in a sustainable way and I want to make it known that not everyone who used their products is throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Pro tip: Draw your declarations in sand or on steamy windows. They'll soon disappear and nobody will remember long enough to call you out
"Comrade"?? 😄 Are you a communist too? 😄 because it certainly hit a nerve on you the pejorative use of "hipster" 😄
So now exposing a shady unethical practice of a developer is also a "conspiracy"? 😄 READ THE WHOLE THREAD and you'll see why 🙂
I keep saying "BYE" to different trolls every time they try to engage with their useless comments, like YOU: BYE 😄
You're doing a great job of coming across as a troll yourself. Pot meet kettle?
And all this about an app..
It’s not an app anymore. For it to be an app it would have to function as intended. For many of us it’s just an app icon that crashes and represents a company @PulsarModular that ripped us off, for an IAP, less that 12 months ago, that no longer works.
Exactly! and instead the users who did NOT bought it are the ones defending the SCAM... no wonder these "indie" developers get away with this crap every time because they have an army of sheeple fanboys cleaning their mess and doing their P.R. work for free 😄
I bought the app. Stand-alone crashes, auv3 works and it’s a bummer the iap restore doesn’t work. I’m not convinced the dev is a scammer though. Seems much more likely it’s poor business sense. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanlon's_razor
Exactly.
I know I should just get over it and make some f***ing music but I was really taken with this app 10 months ago. So happy they had such I high IAP purchase ratio
Over 14,000 🤔 @P900 More than enough to hire in a temp iOS Dev to do a hot fix and try and save what’s left of Pulsar Modular’s reputation. While you still can.
In the first set of purchases they are working at recovering the costs spent in development of the product. So, the 14000 was probably already spent.
The conversion numbers look good. But, the initial week's sales would actually be troubling for me. The drop off in downloads in the second week is typically very large. The 2k or so number is pretty consistent with what I see for my plugins that have less universal appeal (not EQ's for example). By the 3rd week it's more like a tenth of that. So, even if they had kept their conversion numbers, the revenue wouldn't stay that high. Probably the only way for them to counter that is marketing and higher prices. Marketing definitely would help. I see pretty large download increases when a popular vid on YT includes LRC5 for example.
I tend to think that if they hadn't done the IAP route, priced it at about $20, and not done the standalone container app, that they'd still be on iOS. It would help trying this kind of path if it were possible to do demos on iOS. If their conversion from demo to purchase stayed as high as the IAP conversion, it might have provided enough incentive to dedicate full time resources to porting their other products to iOS and maintaining them.
Exactly!!! This is another proof this @P900 dev blaming solely apple iOS update is pure B.S. as usual because he did the same thing with his P900 software abandoning the users who supported him and bought it!, see this thread:

It’s like watching a blindfolded toddler getting angrier and angrier that he’s not hitting the piñata but nobody wants to tell him he’s not even standing under the tree because the struggle is so hilarious to see.
Quick update.
Standalone? it doesn't work, auv3?
It works.
I'll keep it there as long as it holds as auv3.
If you recall, when they first offered their app it was not fully functional. There were a number of bugs which they fixed over time. I don't recall exactly how long it took to fix, but I'm thinking I waited at least a couple of weeks before I felt confident enough to buy the full in-app upgrade.
