Has it ever been explained why Zenbeats has more trouble and takes longer scanning AUv3 than other apps?
I wonder if it's something related to the cross-platform code.
Maybe some of the expertise in this forum could be harnessed to find a better solution.
Is GeoShred as midi out to another AU synth working for anyone? I just bought Zenbeats and simply trying to figure out if it’s me or GeoShred, because fact, GeoShred does not work as midi out in Loopy Pro, but Michael said it’ll be fixed next update.
I had some issues in earlier versions of ZB but nowadays it is working fine IMO. I am on an iPad Air 4, ZB 3.1.3, latest iPadOS and 120 AUv3s were scanned and found in 46 seconds. Are you having issues with extreme scanning times?

I having more and more fun with Zenbeat.
I give up AUM and use it as my main audio tools for creating songs now.
I just rescanned to see how long it takes: 106 plugins @ 1:05 on an M1 iPad Pro. I only rescan after deleting a couple which isn’t very often so a minute is fine.
Hi, it seems the second purchase was for monthly subscription ,
You could sign in from ΖΒ to your account and restore purchases to continue using AUs from your initial ZB2 purchase
So you either have to cancel the monthly subscription , or buy ZB3 unlock (not subscription if you don't want that)
the scan time depends of the quantity and type of the plugins , so it varies . The main issue is not to crash during scanning , although after relaunching ZB continues to scan the remaining plugins , it gives a bad impression , especially for new users , that it's unstable for later usage
Great to hear!
Zenbeats has indeed become a very powerful music production environment, and rivals the top players. Given that the workflow suits you, there isn’t many regular music or audio duties that can’t be done inside it. I regularly read about issues here in the forum where people struggle with apps and I just nod to myself “ that can be done with ZB”, “ this can be done with ZB” and it just goes on ( yes, I am aware that Drambo exists😂).
It is an evolving app nevertheless with quirks and things needing fixing but with a dedicated team behind it pushed forward by loyal users, there is more to come without any doubt.
Stay put for 3.1.4…👀.

My experience exactly. I’ve set aside all other DAWs as Zenbeats handles pretty much everything I need and more with a logical, intuitive workflow. The ZC1 synth, drum sampler, and other instruments are excellent and the library of loops and presets is becoming so vast that I can’t even audition them all. Same with the midi and audio effects. I own a lot of 3rd party plugins but I’m relying on them less all the time.
If you’ve never checked it out, there’s a free version with limitations. Better yet, sign up for the inexpensive (IMO) core subscription which gives you access to everything. If isn’t for you, just cancel it.
I have, indeed, signed up for the core subscription, but as I am currently using an iPad, it’s not clear how I can activate it to get the benefit. There is only a macOS version of the Roland Cloud Manager available…
Starting to explore Zenbeats and wondering whether it’s clips/patterns can be launched in different ways like in LK and Atom (LK: immediate or continuous options, Atoms different launch mode options). Or is it only possible on the beat and after the loop has looped?
Let’s ask @MatthewAtZenbeats …
which second purchase, the one im complaining about which was on Dec 26 2022 for $10.81 , or the one on sep 16 2022 for $3.99 ??
because what you’re saying its what they said but the reality is that was not case,
because the Purchase on Sep 16 2022 for $3.99 was a purchase for the version 3 new features update ios full unlock, which doesn’t have anything to do with subscription, and the reason im guessing it was just 3.99 was because i already own version 2 full ios unlock so because of that, for those who already own version 2 full ios unlock there was a discount for those who are updating to version 3 ios unlock , plus i don’t do subscriptions,
and here is another prove of that,
so the $10.81 was a double charge for the same thing which doesn’t have to do anything with subscription because again i don’t do subscription, and i never got charged for a subscription based of payment because if that was the case it would’ve be on record on the app store under subscriptions which is the the screenshot above, alway keep the receipts and for records of purchase, apple do too, it seems like apple is being lazy on looking for the records on what was the purchase based on, because if they wasn’t the case i wouldn’t have this and they would’ve gave me back my money !
Thank you! That sounds like a plan 😉
Another newbie question here…
If I have an instrument track with a pattern of length 1 bar, how t
Do I expand it to 2 or more bars? If I select and drag the end of the clip, it just creates a linked copy, or whatever the technical term is, of the pattern. I don’t need any Midi notes to be copied or generated in the new space, just (a) new bar(s) into which I can draw new notes. Hope that makes sense!
This can be done via the pattern inspector:
Select the pattern you want to grow - open the inspector (1) - adjust the pattern length (2)
Zenbeats has become my goto DAW. It‘s easy yet versatile and nicely supports a touchbased workflow (both on iOS and windows based tablets)!
my bad , didn't understood had happened initially , sorry for the confusion
So , to summerize :
You bought ZB v2
Then you upgraded to ZB v3 for 3.99$
At some point when you logout from your ZB account and relogin , your account didn't show your purchases? You had to pay 10.81$ again?
That sucks , I understand your frustration , only possible user error I can think is you might had different account ID? .... nevertheless you could skip the purchase message and contact Roland support
I don't judge you , do whatever makes you happy
Cool! I notice that you have to manually stretch the pattern as well, but that it will expand correctly before it switches into “linked copy” mode. I’d already sussed out how to adjust the default length of new patterns, but hadn’t discovered the button to show the pattern inspector. In any case, I can forge on till I reach the next hurdle. Thanks very much!!
yes that is what happened !
so why apple and roland can’t understand that and give me my money back, its not really about the money but more about the principles and appreciation for the clients, specifically clients that has spent more than $2,000 dollars on apps
So I have read this entire thread from Page 5 to here, and what a journey. I downloaded Zenbeats early in the pandemic, if I recall, but there were issues, and I decided to hold off. But when this thread kept popping up, I thought, OK, I'll dive in. So version 3 on iOS is a very reasonable $5 upgrade; I'm really intrigued by the loop-to-timeline workflow.
At the moment, though, I can't seem to get any sound from a guitar into a channel with an Nembrini amp sim. I'm using an iConnect4+. Any suggestions? @MatthewAtZenbeats
Hey you all!
Glad to see people trying Zenbeats out!
I have alerted Matthew to the incoming flow of questions here. He might be on vacation though after the holidays and the release of 3.1.3. If a support question is important to you, please try to put it through the regular support channels as well, since it might not be answered here other than us forum members trying to help. Reported properly, it will be logged and looked at.
@SLPGroundSoundMusic I have also mentioned your troubles. I feel you, but try to stay patient, and even though I can’t promise you anything, I am pretty sure your case will be looked at. Something has gone wrong obviously.
Regards,
/DMfan🇸🇪
What problem are you having?. Can you see and set the card input on the track?. Is monitor on?. Is it only with Nembrini or just any fx?.
The loop-to-timeline workflow is a must for me nowadays, I find working with clips/loops a lot more fun and inspiring when messing around and coming up with stuff.
Zenbeats has some great features that might not be flashy but are indispensable for this workflow. For example expanding loops (audio or midi) on the timeline vs having to copy and paste. It’s very well thought of.
I absolutely love the small but perfectly formed and functional low-end and high-end roll off EQ devices in the Mixer view 😍
It just seems that Zenbeats isn’t recognizing the audio input. There’s no option in the audio routing for the specific interface. The iRig pads, however, show up and send midi to the drum sampler. The interface is recognized in Drambo and AUM, so I’m not sure what needs to happen here.
Not at the ipad now; will send screenshot later.
If you have a subscription with Roland Cloud (even the $2.99 per month option). You get access to Zenbeats on any device/OS and you get access to all in-app content (every pack in the Loops and Presets tab in our Store). It is activated by simply signing into Zenbeats with your email address linked to your Roland Account.
You can adjust clip launch speed options here
Down to 1 beat
You can also set loops only play once here.
Yes, please do.
EDITED:
Zenbeats is not like AUM, it doesn’ t name the interface. It just deals with the number of channels your device has, as of now on mine 2. This is a pic of my Minifuse 2 connected. It has two channels, channel 1 and 2, and Zenbeats recognizes them. Channel 3 and 4 says no input if chosen, since the Minifuse 2 only has two channels. Any audio now coming from the interface will get picked up by Zenbeats.
Are you saying you can’t see your audio interface name (the audio input source) in Zenbeats, or that no audio is recorded when everything is connected properly?

Hi There.
Sorry for the confusion on purchasing. If you haven't done so, please go here and file a ticket. https://www.roland.com/backstage/zenbeats-support
As for the double charge, your screenshots show that you were refunded the 10.81 on December 25th. What else are we missing here?
The next hurdle has arrived! How can I copy more than one adjacent patterns from the linear view into a single clip of more than one bar length? Alternatively, is there a way of combining several adjacent pattern into a single pattern, which can then, presumably be copied into the clip view?
Also, following up on a previous question, am I right in thinking that the pattern inspector can only be used to extend the length of a pattern when that pattern is a built in instrument or drum kit, not an external AU3 plugin?
UPDATE: I was able to answer the first question by using the Multi option to select multiple patterns and then use the Glue function to make one pattern. This then could be copied into the Clip view.
I’m thinking that this technique can be used to answer the second question, as well. I could create a blank second pattern, then use the Multi/Glue option to create an extended pattern.
UPDATE2: It works. Hoorah 😉
Thank you!
Would allow a lot of freedom if unquantized/immediate launch (or 1/16ths..) were also possible..
