AUM shows up in Note so AUv3 midi fx can be routed to AUM and used to play note. Just tried it with Rosetta bassline and it worked great!

Thanks! This is the glue I was looking for. I’ve had a hard time jamming when I’m out due to the lag on my Bluetooth headphones. Being able to use a midi sequencer will allow me to at least get things on time. :)

I find Note a lot of fun for getting simple ideas down with very little friction.

How are people using the midi in features with other apps?

I messed around with MelodyBud yesterday when I discovered the Note update, but no dice in getting the midi into a track. AB3 support would be nice, but what are current best practices?

I open Audanika in split screen and configure the midi in both apps. I don’t think Note shows up in Audanika as a receiver but Audanika shows up in Note as a sender. So you just have to do it old school style manually. I’m not sure if AUV3 apps will work

    Also works nicely with Audiobus.

  • Drambo is also an option. But for now im happy with Audanika

Thanks, I didn't think of that. That's even better. Being able to record in Drambo before committing it to Note... I like that.

Having a template with a couple of midi AUs is nice, too.

Patterning is a good match also, I find.

  • Is there a way to save a preset in Note? I'd like to make a couple from samples, but the only thing I found I could save was the sample itself.

  • No you can’t save presets.

  • Note is pretty cool. When it dropped I told alll my Live user acquaintances about it (none were iOS users, and they were interested at least if not enthusiastic.). a reverse of the target user idea, Note led Live users to the iOS music realm.

it got me to download the free 8 track version of Live again.

Deleted it after a while again. Partly because its one more deep ass DAW I’d have to learn

What this thread actually prompts me to do is open up the apps that export Live projects in Live files format. There are several with a ton more features than Note. Surprising ones, fun ones. etc

I open those apps and play again when i check in on this thread. Because Bitwig opens those
files. If Note exported files in that format I’d use it.

Well, I suspect you could use Ableton cloud to send your note project to your Ableton lite version and use it just to save it and then open that file in bitwig. (Probably collect all and save from the file menu)

Edit: you would probably have to freeze and flatten the tracks, so the project doesn't use Ableton devices anymore, but audio instead. Yeah a bit of a hassle...

    Oops double post

I think what we really want is someone to make an entirely separate app that utilizes the free form, tempo detection, capture concept but within a more robust environment where we can pan tracks.

    +1 on this
that is the breakout concept that Note brings to the party.

Short of a new app, we can browbeat the devs of existing apps to add it to theirs.

I have a pedal (sDrum, digitech) that does a similar thing (only aimed at guitarists/instrumentalists wanting drum accompaniment). Has the same feature, in that you don't need to accurately finish the loop ... it works out "what you really meant" within reason.

So ... not applicable here (iPad apps) ... but a rare and useful feature.

I just bought this to support Ableton, great company. Not using Live ATM, but will probably have some good samples, being 500 mb and a simple app. No chance this has audio warping, or?

no warp on the Ableton note simpler, would be killer to have that. Of course once you open the project into Ableton live you have warping.

yep, the default sound set on this app is awesome. worth it just for the drum rack presets.

  • I got a “features flag” menu

I lets me do some very wild things, seemes like a dev thing.

And now I’m stuck on a screen with only colors

  • edited May 2023

Whoa, that’s crazy. I’ll pass that on. You can contact Note support from the settings page in Note, I’m sure they’d want to see those screen shots.

yeah i let the ableton team know about this about a week ago but i got no response.

  • Probably best to just delete the app and reinstall if you can’t access any other screens.

just go into the settings and turn off 'performance view' and 'debug' if on.

  • I like that version better. Candyfloss and numbers everywhere ! Woohoo

haha, infact i see you turned alot of options on in the feature flag, you'll need to turn them off.

shame the ableton team doesnt respond much to bugs/issues. maybe too busy.

I can only access the colors screen, I can’t get out of it. I will backup and reinstall

  • You people with beta access can ask them to add a monophonic sampler preset? Hopefully with glide :)

ok mate, unfortunately a reinstall didn't work for me but you can try.

i had to blindly tap the bottom of the screen until i entered the feature flag settings mode.

  • I only backed up the project folder and now they don’t have samples :(

But its working as intended and i have no longer access to the dev menu

  • Sorry you had some issues. Just talked to the devs and they said if anyone else runs into this pleas just leave the flags alone or you could make the app unusable. If that happens, for now the best bet is uninstall and reinstall. An update will be out shortly that hopefully fixes this once and for all, and keeps those flags hidden and they are supposed to be.

  • At least I had a sneak peak :D

  • So I sampled my Farfisa Microrgan with note and made some spooky sounds. Then when I went into the folder to get the sample into other stuff I accidentally tapped it and it asked did I want to import it? I said no and bam sample gone forever. 😂

Probably not what you want to happen by accident!

  • Is there a midi implementation chart for ableton note ? I googled and couldn't find it.

In particular, it would be good if I can find a CC or a note which will trigger the 'capture' button (if that's what it's called) from a midi controller.
