I just tested midiDrums sending midi to a clap in fac drumkit. I recorded 4 bars and loaded in loopmix. I then put the bpm in aum to near 1000 and let it sit for a few mins. I brought the bpm back down and everything was still perfectly in sync. 48 kHz sample rate.

I think that was the issue - but some of us are stuck using 44khz if you have iPad with headphone jack still... and if I remember right - there was still some minor drift with 48khz - it might take several minutes to drift using 48. Or I could be wrong... but still would be nice if audiomodern could look at that midi timing thread posted above and sort the 44khz issue out.

They said they tested it at 44.1 too and had no issues. Tested it against the metronome for hours at both sample rates. Test against the metronome rather than another app perhaps? That rules out more variables?

  • My second test was Hammerhead and Loopmix in sync at 48 kHz sample rate in AUM. Noticed no delay on the scope after a couple of minutes.

It is still theoretically possible that Hammerhead has issues at 44.1 so that is not a thorough test. Surely best to test against the aum metronome or at least test against a handful of other drum apps. If loopmix plays nice against the metronome at both 48 and 44.1 kHz, that means it doesn't have a problem

I'm back from busy a thing.
You mentioned 48 kHz sample rate. I had set mine on 44.1. Changed it to 48 kHz, and tadáá, no drift!
So, i shall inform Audiomodern about this issue.
Sample rate could cause the problem, and i payed the scope in the Appstore to monitor all, haha, but it's great tool.
The difference between 48kHz and 44.1 is 1,08843 and maybe that's the calculation number of the drift.

OK interesting, glad that I mentioned my sample rate and that we're a step closer to figuring it out - and glad Hammerhead is not drifting lol

There is a known OS issue related to running at 44k on devices like the iPad 6 whose hardware is 48k and does weird things to sample rate switch to 44..1k. It is more complicated than rounding error.

Michael Tyson did a huge amount of work to get 44.1k audio to work right in Loopy Pro on those devices and maintain sync and found some interesting OS anomalies to workaround.

Thanks, yes I remember something about this. But if an app runs without drift for hours against the metronome in aum at both sample rates that means it doesn't have a problem. ie Loopmix does not have a problem, correct or not?

  • Curious what people think of Loopmix for non-drum work. I have Egoist and really enjoy the precise slicing. I can get something cool and usable out of basically any sample, whether it's someone talking, singing, riffs, drums or whatever. I've seen some of my favorite 'tubers from here use Loopmix as a source in some of their tuts demonstrating other plugins, plus I've been meaning to get Riffer. So the AAS is getting kinda high for the bundle, but I just worry I won't get any real use out of it, since I already have Egoist and DrumComputer.
    Any advice or observations?

    good question!

  • basically I’m still waiting for audiomodern to add the promised drag and drop for the samples and multi-out for iOS which would allow for a much nicer workflow
I find myself almost not using it now,

This really is important for loopmix & Playbeat 3

Currently I use Egoist much more for this kind of thing as it has envelopes and the slice markers can be shifted around. With Loopmix you’re kind of at the mercy of its internal slicer and lack of envelopes. It sounds great when the stars align but horrid when they don’t. Audiomodern have said that they will be updating to fix this but it hasn’t materialised thus far.

  • They are still planning to add drag and drop but it's taking longer than they thought, because JUCE ports don't support drag and drop on iOS they are trying to find a workaround

  • I hope the drag and drop is something that can get worked out with juce as well. I’ve used it to make my own plug-ins on pc and enjoy the environment but that’s a pain that it can’t seem to port over

Yeah I really hope JUCE are working on this and implement it as quickly as possible. I would imagine developers are asking for it as we are complaining to them about it, so fingers crossed 🤞

I find the randomizer a big plus in LoopMix. When loading the right combination of loops, sometimes it gives me great results.
Other than that, Stockholm in Gadget is still my favorite slice arranger and composer.

Hi, I‘m on the fence on giving in and buying this app. I think it might be a great companion to my Digitakt. is it possible to record loops straight into LoopMix for further mangling and exporting stems in the end? or do I have to record my loops first in another app like audioshare?

Sorry if this has been mentioned before in this thread. I‘m just to lazy to read it all

  • Can you import own samples or loops into audiomiderns loopmix?

yep, even with drag and drop from files app (slide over). oh and even 6 AT ONCE ;)

  • Love Loopmix but it's a crash-fest in Logic :'(

I was just using it a week or 2 ago for a track alongside PlayBeat and didn’t have any issues at all. I’ll have to try it again and see.

  • Same here, loopmix and playbeat are crashing

That’s a bummer. Hope it gets fixed as these are 2 of my favorite apps. Haven’t had a chance to test it but will later today.

I usually message them on twitter but I'm not sure if they accept or read dms from non-mutual followers there. Check their website?

    Glad the vid was useful!

They have a forum on their site and responded to a report I made just the other day and seem to be aware of the issue:

(The thread and my comment were specific to Playbeat but the OP mentioned Loopmix as well.)

Thanks 🙏 glad they’re aware. Hope there’s a fix soon. I don’t use multiple instances often but do occasionally.
