Is this any different to buying preset packs for the likes of DRC, SynthMaster etc?
I don’t think they involve Apple

  • I just spoke to one of the guys at modartt, he told me he knows of no dispute with apple. So probably best the whole thing is dropped until anyone has definitive proof, would be a pity if baseless rumour mongering interfered with sales of such a great app

    Thanks for this clarification.

Ok - I deleted my comment about this.

Glad to hear from Modartt that is just BS…

Yeah, don’t worry, I’m not being critical of you for bringing it up - it was probably worth asking, but seems like smoke without fire.

@McD Affinity did this for all of their version 2 apps. And they are still regularly promoted on the App Store on all platforms. Audible Genius also does this for Syntorial. I doubt there is any issue with the “back door” way Modartt did this given others do it too.

Excellent. I’d like to see more of the high end products adopt this “one price” for all platforms model. Native Instruments, Omnisphere, etc.

Yes @DavidEnglish is killing it with his Omnisphere they should be paying him

  • Anyone else got the problem with the latest version of Pianoteq (released only a few days ago) that the preset browser menu is not working at all in Logic Pro for iPad?

No - works as previous versions for me…

What’s happening for you with browsing presets?

Weird, I just tested in aum and it is also not working there. Like, I click on an instrument, eg Steinway D NY, and get no submenus opening. Works standalone though, beautifully. Will try restart maybe.

Wait, I was just testing this in standalone mode!

I also tested this on my other iPad (reserv), not my primary 12.9” M1 iPad…

I’ll check this again in AUv3 mode and coming back in a moment…

Apparently, the BeatHawk grand piano is quite underrated as he seems to rank it just behind Ravenscroft.

Damn shame beathawk is only getting worse inside cubasis. It use to be able to survive a cycle of laying midi down with it, and then quickly rendering it before it unloaded itself. But these days it will unload itself within 2minutes. I must be a gluten for self punishment. But as of now the frustration has killed my mood when using it way to much. Its time I wrap it in sailcloth and give it the swift kick it deserves overboard.

    Cheers

Have the same problem in AUM, now tried in other DAWs

    Epic Games/Fortnite situation for instance

Is there a legal case that opened the door for Apple to be forced to tolerate Modartt generating revenues without Apple taking a cut.

Modartt is a French company… has the EU enacted regulations that constrain Apple from their controls of the market and software vendors that no other company enjoys?

Most likely that Apple didn’t notice. Since there are IAPs in the app, the reviewer might not have noticed that you can purchase the IAPs outside the store.

    Further testing.

Yeah, the browser in AUv3 mode is broken…

I tried to revert to previous Pianoteq version thru my Mac (v.8.10 that I had backed up with iMazing app), but, with no success…

One little trick meanwhile we waiting for Modartt to fix this: Longhold on the blank area on respective piano model, at least that way we can switch between pianos, but not presets (there we have to browse with left/right arrow)…

Thnx. Sorry what blank area do u mean tho Errka? The only way I know is swipe left or right on the picture of the instrument to move to the previous / next instrument, or - as you say - use the arrows to move between presets.

all the beta testing stopped on the iOS version. So, Dev testing/updating version on his own now. Maybe why this was missed.

However preset browser AUv3 works for me in AUM so I have no issues. FYI

Hmm... Interesting. Maybe device or ios specific bug then... Who knows

  • Seems rather expensive for an iPad release. Shame, as I’m a fan of the desktop version. Oh well.

But the license is cross platform - whatever you have on desktop you will get on iOS completely free, and vice versa. Do keep up! 😜

Hard reset of ipad did not fix this btw. Also having trouble importing back in my layers and morphs - would not recommend a reinstall best wait for a fix…

Longhold on respective piamo model in the blank space on left side see screenshot)

Otherwise may that be a lot of arrow-hitting if you would like to go from ex. Steinway to Petrof…
Wonder what that arrow means that occur when we longtapping there?

Thanks! It’s been hit and miss in AUM. Doesn’t work like 80% of the time but then it randomly will. Pressing the side of it still works fortunately.

It’s funny, I tweeted the other day about how great this new update was in terms of how well the preset browsing works lol. Needless to say, I had only tried it standalone.

    Anyway, from Modartt:

We are aware of the bug you mentioned and will release a fix very soon.

Awesome. Love to see a big desktop dev porting their plugin and actually taking iOS seriously as a platform and not an afterthought.
