XinematiX - by VirSyn & KARO Sound Development - Walkthrough & The BIG Sound Test for the iPad

This is the brand new App from VirSyn in collaboration with KARO Sound Development.
It’s scheduled to be released later today.

This is on par with high end desktop sample libraries, possibly the best sample library instrument I’ve heard on iOS.

  • Ouhh… my wallet.

  • Ooohhh...

  • So apparently a join venture with Kurt Ader, the sound designer behind the KAPro IAPs in Korg Module.
Not sure if I would like to download GBs of library and pay $$$ of IAPs. I am just speculating of course…
Also - if this is a big rompler - I wonder why this could not have been done in AudioLayer.
Well, I am eager to know what it proposes as sound design possibilities. Will know it soon.

Less important now, but still a consideration… is it also available on macOS?

Also, under whose brand name will it be sold? Karo? Or Harry Gohs / VirSyn?

  • @Paulo164 No Kurt’s company is KAPro, this is KARO Sound Development.

  • @NeuM As far as I know, no, at least not yet, but as you say no real problem now I don’t suppose, you know with the forthcoming (I shall not name in in yet another thread) thing🤣

    Thanks, Doug. LOL.

  • Maybe Harry will turn his talents to physical modeling next… @Gavinski has been hinting that a Decent Sampler alternative is in the works. But this might be more of a Kontakt alternative because importing free instruments might not be a part of the plan. If it imports Decent Sampler xml files I’ll be ecstatic. Maybe as an IAP in a year if it sells like LP4IOS.

  • @NeuM 😂It’s beginning to feel like saying Voldermort

Well, Tera Pro does sort of include elements of physical modeling in the options… but it might be cool to see him tackle a virtual guitar, sax or orchestral instruments to compete head to head with SWAM and Yonac?

Yes… but still, in the contact page :

    😉

  • @Paulo164 Ah interesting, my apologies, you are correct.
Obviously Kurt has teamed up and formed another company too, epic.
    Thanks for the correction 😊👍

Probably dropped the P so it isn’t another “Pro” thing hah

  • @mjcouche I think you could be right👍

  • Thanks for the preview. Sounds fantastic.

  • Someone please post an App Store link when it’s available.

  • It only costs 1100 USD to get all the packs.

  • My wallet is getting slimmer and slimmer.

The estimated cost was posted in a comment by @Virsyn on Doug’s demo video today:

This is the “Boiling Frog” business model that Korg, Crudbytes and UVI have used to seduce well over $200 from me. It’s also akin to a “payment program” where you can get something beyond your budget today by committing to scheduled payments. The strictly timed program is the dreaded subscription like that “Lifetime Gym Membership I purchased a few months before Bally’s bought the gym and canceled my membership. I didn’t know I was committing to the Lifetime of the seller.

I think I’m good for a couple hundred again.

Well, it’s all relative isn’t it? If a person gets $1,100 of value from this app, then it’s worth it to them. Compared to other options of similar quality, is this a better deal?

It’s like BeatHawk… you play the demo and buy it if the sounds are your thing. About 40% of the BeatHawk offerings so far and I generally wait for sales and review the remaining goods on the shelf.

I’m sure I’ll love about 40% of these packs too. I just reviewed the Crudebytes Xpad IAPs and even on sale I’m just not moved since I can make sounds like that with the massive array of apps I already own. DecentSampler continues to push out 3-5 instruments a week at… (wait for it) $0 at PianoBook.co.uk. The free ones from “Venus Theory” are great useable demos for his products in the $10-30 range. Very similar to the offerings here.

In any event, more choices are a good thing.

    Choices are dangerous for some.

I can’t help but notice how good you are at just saying “No” while the rest of us are busy going through the sofa for the spare change to buy PianoTeq for $129, $259, $399 or $899. You just go… “No Thanks”.

I’m sure the fact that you are under 20 and I am over 70 has some bearing on these decisions. I don’t have to go to work anymore. So, I just play all day and into the night.
