  • If you only get 5 packs which would you get?

  • Maybe the 5 Packs i could hear before buying. 😉

As the title suggest this is of course geared toward film composing .. At least to my ears

When I saw this, my first thought was: Why would a "cinematic composer" want to replace a beefy (in terms of display size, memory and storage) desktop system by an iDevice?

You’re better off just getting OmniSphere on the desktop, if you already have one.

    Done.

Reviews of things highlighting pricing models (and/or necessity thereof) of ios software exceeding the cost of equal or better desktop software and/or even the price of cutting edge hardware by a consumer, similarly, is just business. That is because consumers are themselves partners with businesses which serve them.

Folk too who perchance contemplate potential impact of particular business developments on whole industries and future consumer landscapes are just going about their legitimate business too.

So please likewise don't dis the many rational reactions to a new pricing model by others above; it's just business ;)

Harry has 2 partners in this app so his hands may be tied to a contract so try not to make it personal…

Meh No disrespect to any parties intended or implied in this whole thread that I can find.

Respectfully, though, the whole "just business not personal" construct strikes me as a dubious albeit prevalent myth. Everything is "personal" that involves/impacts persons whether persons involved are consumers or producers or something else. There is nothing wrong with recognizing all things involving persons are personal in a discussion so long as it remains civil (a different matter) which as far as I can tell everyone around here reasonably seems to be.

I can't help but wonder if this is a good thing or frankly economically necessary. At a certain point some companies start charging more and more and more and more not because they must to profit or even thrive but simply because they can. This can in turn change whole industries.
Back in the day a MOOG SYNTH, one of the most magical devices ever invented by humankind, cost thousands and thousands of dollars. Then came the advance of manipulating ones and zeros, you could make a synth just with those. Then came IOS, you could get a MOOG comparable in the sonic ballpark to the original for under $20. A magical fairyland time if there ever was one. Of course in this case we have something worth gazillions of dollars more than something like a lowly MOOG app in terms of development and investment [/doubt] [/cynicism]

We should all be aware that regarding romplers, it is very easy to pirate the libraries if they are available in demo.
Take Korg Module, activate the 7-day free trial for KAPro choirs, plug audioLayer in and record any preset you want with multi-samples and layers.
That’s the main problem I think.

Maybe a workaround would be to make the trial demos only available in standalone mode for 3 days or something? I guess you can still screen record but maybe it would help?

Very good idea. Deactivate AUv3 and IAA. Deactivate some keys. Shut down the sound after 1 minute. Etc.

Exactly. I just really need a way of demoing something that pricey before I buy. Especially with limited sounds.

Sadly Virsyn Started at the wrong foot A lot of complaints and mostly about the pricing.
For sure more devs will make apps like this and hopefully the pricing will be much much better
It’s like someone sells you shoes that you can see them till you buy them but he tells you the color😂
Here you buy a pack and you don’t know if you like it !!!
This is hilarious and sad at the same time !!!
It’s a big competition out there
    Absolutely Not Personal with anybody
Just A disappointed Customer (For This certain App)

Ahh so it is like a screen tapping game where you scroll through manually or hit the random button until you find one... fun?

I was thinking of grabbing a pack (some lush cinematic airy pads for a new couch project) but now i just think if i did i would still be swimming in a sea of sounds that dont work. So I would literally have to write down the names of the sounds from the pack I bought on a post-it note and stick it to my ipad to use this thing?

Ahh well, maybe something is coming up on Tuesday chock full of sweet Alchemy sounds I can use.

I am fine with them not being accessible, just don't have them selectable either manually or via the random button. Hard to see this as a 'desktop quality' product.

  • This is an interesting app and could certainly fill a bit of a void in IOS-land.

However the implementation appears to have been very basic/naive... I would quite like to get the string and orchestral packages, but would first need to know...

A video claimed this was an IOS equivalent to Kontakt and Falcon. Does that mean it can produce real legato articulations? (I'm assuming not, but be good to know one way or another)

As others have mentioned, why is it taking 4 gb for 3-4 demo sounds?

If I purchase an addon library, will it take extra space? If so, how much? This is basic info that a potential buyer needs to know, especially on a device like an iPad which often has limited space available.

This is kind of lose/lose for me because, if addon libs are already included in the 4gb size, it means I'm carrying all the disk space for libraries I haven't bought and can't use... yet if the libraries are extra, then what on earth is taking up the 4gb? If that's the starter set, then what if I don't want to buy it, but want other libs instead - how do I offload that? If I can't, then that's no good!

I have some KApro libraries on my Korg Kronos and they're good... not anything like a top Kontakt library, but a worthy addition to my iPad toolkit of sounds and from what I've heard of the sounds - they seem nice.

My advice to the devs would be to sort out the memory requirements of this, ensuring we're only using space for the sounds we want and have purchased.

Let us demo more sounds - at least let us demo 1 or 2 sounds from each library and get a full preset walkthrough of all libs up on the internet as soon as possible.

I'm going to hold out on this until Logic Pro is released, just to see if the studio strings get's included. If it does, I'll probably go with that. But if the iPad version doesn't get the strings (as the fully fledged sampler doesn't appear to be included) then I would give serious consideration to a few sample libs on XinematiX if these issues can be sorted out.

Hard to disagree. If the list of silent presets suppose to encourage someone to buy them, I am not this person

The 4 included sounds are complex layers of many multisample, one of them containing a complete piano with each key sampled separately with many different velocities. And as with all sounds in the libraries we always chose quality before size.

I listened to all complaints regarding the limited demoing capabilities and I think this is the main point here. Unfortunately the production of videos / sound demos were delayed and we wanted to have this out before Logic Pro...
But we expect to have full demo videos for all by the end of next week, stay tuned.

I'm also in talks with my collaborators to make more demoing possible inside the App and I hope that we find a solution for this very soon too.

Thanks for listening Harry! This must be a big reason why you’re such a well respected developer around here

  • @VirSyn I like what you did with Terra Pro and Teraverse , I have bought both and today the 3 IAP as I always support good dev as wi can. The sound pack is too expensive unfortunately for my budget need to wait a bit.

Will the random button still pick < no sound > though? i guess the odds go down the more you buy? Still feels like a pay per play game.

And this whole screen just seems silly as it will just load up sounds that likely you dont have. It seems like these should be added only once you have the sounds that go with them, It almost feels like the original concept was to be a complete purchase (ala omnisphere) but then it got chopped up into IAP after?

Simply having a 'hide what I don't have' setting seems like it would be more respectful to the customer than this constant reminder of what you don't have. Happy to pay for great sounds but right now it just feels like a potentially premium app stuck in a freemium marketing mindset.

Thanks for replying. It would be great to have an option to uninstall the demo presets. 4gb is a huge amount of space for them. I understand the piano is fully multisample, however I recently deleted two sampled pianos after Pianoteq was released. I think we need to be able to just have the content we want as the space requirements are so large.

And, as mentioned, info is needed to say how large each of the addon libraries are.

Good luck with this, I'm sure after some tweaking it will be a great addition to the iPad.

I use AUM as my DAW when I use Xinematix And I Save the Project
When I reload the project Xinematix does NOT save the Multi Sound instead
Opens On The Default one "A Taste of Xinematix"
Does Anybody else Have This Issue ?
Also is there a Way to transfer The Multi Sounds From one IPad To Another?
