If you’re in the US I’m selling a Push 2 stupid cheap ($360+shipping) and would love to pass it on to someone I forum know. 😉
Thanks - unfortunately I’m in the middle of rural Welsh Wales, so the shipping/tax would probably knock the costs up a bit!
Still on for the Push 3 at the moment, but all down to how the reviews go before it becomes available again…
I would say there’s likely a couple bug fix releases before you need to stress about grabbing one. Let fools like me get things a bit more stable first. 😉
Yeah does sound a bit buggy! Hopefully they’ll sort them out soon, I’ll be going for the controller version anyway if I do, so hopefully there’s less that can go wrong with that one!
Do all the Push 2’s suffer from the ‘sticky’ casing issue? That put me off a bit.
I think that was everyones experience with the standalone one the first time it boots, but normally if you just say no to restoring that session it then works straight away. If you keep saying yes, restore that session, you will be stuck in a loop.
Mine was definitely something else, I wasn't even given an option of restoring the session 90% of the time.
Wondering about this… what it would take for the Push to work as an iPad controller. We’ve got a very solid start in the DrivenByMoss scripts. Amazing stuff that already covers the Push and a ton of other devices for Bitwig, Realer, etc.
So you’d need a DAW that loads some custom scripts on startup. Right?. Not the case on iOS daws. Could it maybe be an auv3 midi effect?. Sort of like a huge Mozaic script. Even if possible you’d probably run into specific DAW issues. For example, if I remember correctly , Zenebats doesn’t allow sending midi CC’s or anything other than notes. But with Logic Pro as a new sort of standard, if it could work there it’d be great.
Of course, the DAW in question would need some sort of API to control it to take advantage of all the deep functionality in DrivenByMoss (create clips, edit midi, record, edit devices and so on). But the “standalone” features of the Push should be doable. Right?. To make it work like a Launchpad kind of.
innovative free LFO for push3. Allows you to map to any device in the same channel. This is important because until this device, you haven't been able to do any mapping on devices with existing devices. Video shows how it works.

stop it, I've giving myself gas here. lol.
Thanks for the report
Finally got P3S bought, just waiting on my shipping info email. Looking forward to this, but am really concerned about the touch strip issue going on and whether or not this is going to end up being a hardware issue:
https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=247474
The workarounds people are using really make it seem like it's something hardware related considering Ableton has a ton of experience with the touch strip from both Push1 and Push2 and I don't ever remember seeing this issue on either.
I'm sitting this one out for a few months. I really want the P3S, but from what I'm reading on Elektronauts forum from users, it really sounds like this device is Beta State at best.

Hopefully the workflow and quality of life bugs get worked out sooner than later.
I wonder why they rushed this device...
So weird that there aren't a ton of P3S videos on YouTube since it's launch. Everything I've seen has been less than interesting. Where are all the EPIC vids to entice the senses?
Yeah, bit worrying that. Still saying 8+ weeks for stock here in the UK, just as well, maybe...
I've been surprised about that too - since I'm interested in buying one I've been checking the vids, but seem to be a lot less than I'd expect from such a flagship product...
I say 7 years to release is hardly rushed. Can't speak for the Standalone but my controller has no hardware issues.
All the pads works and the touch strip. 950 euro is a lot of money for one but it suits my specific needs.
as for sound demos i think most musicians are just getting on with using it with Ableton live. Most of the youtube influencers aren't very good musicians so its the same little repetitive techno tune regardless of the gear. Stimming showed off some of the MPE stuff pretty well. Playing drums, physical modelling synths and live orchestra romplers have been the most rewarding for me with Push.
I have a Push 2 which I love. I've been waiting on the P3S for several years. Great to hear that it's working out for you...but the sentiment on the Elektronaut forum is that people are happy with it when it works...and a few early adopters are stating that it's not ready for Prime Time...so hopefully it's just buggy software.
I went through the growing pains when I bought the M+, and I just don't want to go thru this with the Push...cause I love using Ableton.
I'm in no rush as it all gets sorted out...which I know it will
I banged this out in a few seconds to show a Push controlling a sample. Forgive the crap take.
https://1drv.ms/u/s!ApGHwI7dxRychhfgJusLLay9JwDQ pffff onedrive sucks
Very Nice! THAT is what I'm most interested in. Will be fun to map up the expression to string libraries!
I really want to use the P3S with Simpler...Magic Happens...
to the small group of Push 3 owners here i notice a funny little bug with using the MPE control device (looks like a M4L device which comes with live) and the pads, i had one pad not working so well compared to the others..... oooohh no! then i notice i restarted Live and it seems ok. I will keep an eye on it and keep Ableton involved. so i guess if you get a pad issue try a restart of push and live before total panic.
Definitely report any bugs to support:
https://www.ableton.com/en/help/#contact-support
I've seen some vid's on Youtube where people were having those problems as well. Not sure if they did the restarts or not. I'll try to find them and suggest it.
Does anyone know how I can create an account on their forum?
It won't let me login via my Ableton account, as this uses an email address as the username. When I click 'Register' on their forum it takes me to the main company website login. So when I login to that, the forum option gives me an option to change my username from an email address to something else. I add the new username, and then get an error saying I can't change the username!
I seem to be stuck in a loop - do I need to create a separate Ableton account to access their forums? Seems impossible to do so via my main account.
Update - tried creating a second account, doesn't work - only option is to use an email address, which isn't accepted by the forum.
Seems you have to submit a support request, which is ridiculous: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=242879
I manage the Ableton forums, but I haven’t heard of this issue before. Send me a PM with your user name and email, and I’ll look into it for you. Unfortunate heading out on a short camping trip tonight, so I can’t do it until tomorrow evening for you.
Thanks - I don't have a separate username, I signed up with my email account which it won't let me change, but I'll send you that now.
Someone else was complaining about not being able to login here: https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?t=190964 so I tried their method, but still no joy as the 'Answers from the Ableton Community' isn't available from the Help page, or anywhere else on the main website.
Yeah, I experience the same. I would love to participate on the forum, but I'm stuck in the same loop.
I've sent a support request regarding the login issue, and a sales one for my query (the courier they use for returns doesn't seem to exist here in Wales), but they're obviously stacked with support requests at the moment - and it's not available here yet anyway.
There seems to be a lot of issues being reported on the forum which have put me back on the fence (though a new beta has just been announced which might fix them), so I'm in no rush for a response.
hihi that two-month window was always gonna be a plus for you in a final decision. For the huge cost it's a big decision. It worked for me due to my specific requirement and selling Controller gear to greatly reduce the price of the P3C. I wouldn't get a standalone for a few years but i think then it will do alot more.
You hardly know if there has been any progress made on the touchstrip issue? It’s not mentioned in the beta release notes so I guess not but I haven’t heard back from support in over a week and the initial response I got was just a generic one.
Definitely!
It was interesting timing - releasing the P3 on the same day as Logic - that meant I had to give Logic a good testing first before deciding whether to invest in a bigger iPad, or a P3 (can’t afford both). If they’d released the P3 two weeks later after I’d dismissed Logic, I would have grabbed the connected P3 version straight away!
On paper it’s still my dream controller as I’m completely invested in Live, so the two month wait for stock will hopefully give them a chance to squash any bugs.
The connected version is still on the cards!
Support believes it’s an issue that can be fixed with a firmware update, stay tuned.
This is really great to hear, thank you for reporting here. My P3 is supposed to be delivered today. So excite!!
