Has the Push 2 got MPE?
That and the audio interface are making me think hard about getting one of these, vs updating my iPad for Logic.
Yes. It’s a great idea.
MPE is the biggest improvement along with the larger pads! MPE addition is like having a Linnstrument completely integrated with Live. Game changier 😂
A while back I had my iPad Pro plugged into my dell pc dock and my push 1 being used for midi control in loopy pro, was great but not much feedback to the push 1 so not everything lit up etc
Would love to own this
I wonder how the buttons are , hated the Push2 , very shallow couldn't feel the click
at least the lit is way better as I see on videos
Yeah, feels like Push 3 is the ultimate DAWless device so far for my gear and jamming, hmmm…
Holy mother of fuck
Now. This is serious.
When the dust settles, I’ll take the iPad. Can’t upload your content directly from push to any streaming service or reply here while jamming.
That's great news, expensive but will certainly get this at some point in the future. I was even considering building a mini pc to host Live to make my Push 2 more portable. I might still do that until I can justify the cost of this.
When are you going to mention the downsides? Not being distracted by internet (Yes...even this site) is a bonus, surely?
Its damn cool.
It kinda sucks that you don’t get a discount if you already own full ableton though.
but the hardwares sleek, controls greatly improved… its a dream bit of kit isn’t it?
All those built in synths and effects ableton comes with… undeniably the best “groovebox” 😉😂 ever.
I think Akai Force is the best value for money , especially for sampling and triggering midi/audio loops
Another video from loopop
Yeah, I just checked my ‘special price’ for the non-standalone and it’s the same.
I nearly bought a Push 2 last year in the sales. This is £400 more, almost double that sale price, but the MPE and audio interface are very useful additions.
Would be cool if the Push 3 had a bigger display. Like at least 11” or something. And touch capability would be great too. Oh and if you could install plugins.. 🤓
It already runs on arm. I pretty sure sourcing ARM cpus for upgrades is dicey. Both end users and Ableton.
can't believe it.. its too much WHAT WILL WE DOO
I see it has USB Midi, does anyone know if iPads will be powered too?
I use ChordPolyPad a lot, so I'm hoping to be able to play ChordPolyPad with Push's pads and then have the Midi out from ChordPolyPad fed back into Push's instruments. Do you think it'll work out?
Standalone is £1669 for me. Full Ableton cost me around £500 i guess… I’d be buying the same thing twice, but… I do think standalone Ableton Push is likely to be the best portable thing ever.
Its lovely, sleek, an upgradeable processor, the MPE pads seem marvellous.
Im 48 years old soon.. I really can see the attraction of such a comprehensive all in one peice of gear… no more wires and clutter of other gear allover the place 🤣
He does the best ones
The pads are a massive upgrade. Fully MPE and can be upgraded to midi 2.0 when that finally becomes a thing.
Audio interface and CV outs, ADAT and you can upgrade the CPU. basically, everything you would want to see in a new push.
Oh man. I don’t need it. But I want it.
I wonder if it can be charged from an external power bank ? 2 hours is a little short.
Yeah, same here, I wouldn't be able to afford the standalone anyway though. £879 (maybe less in Black Friday sales) is just about do-able.
Clever timing by Ableton. Today I'll be deciding whether to splash out on a new iPad for Logic or not...if not, then a Push 3 later in the year might be on the cards instead...
And this is exactly why you won't see a full Live on an iPad, Ableton want you to buy Push 3 instead. Better that way too, touching glass for triggering things is so imprecise
Good overview here:
Blimey:
Amazing how lo-profile they've kept it for the standalone. No real interest in it as a controller, but totally GAS-ing for the standalone unit. Ain't ever gonna happen for me though, so the GAS will need to be expelled somehow or other
It's just a less useful iPad.
Can the screen be tilted?
I always seem to stand when using my push
On a sofa would be nice if you can tilt the screen
Unless you want to run ableton
I think Logic Pro along with all the other ipad apps on a Ipad pro is gonna be a winner too.
Im not gonna be laying out £1600+ anytime soon! £5 a month for Logic Pro seems not so bad right now.
If at some point im flush with cash (it happens) I couLd see me purchase a standalone Ableton but… I could get a mid range Moog or Sequential synth instead.. thats the price band its in!
