I was just looking and it's definitely not as tall as Novation Circuit so I think you are right.
Well you dont have to get them from Ableton. For example, the MIDI adaptors use the Type A standard.
I prefer trs midi like this. I have a few items that use it, and thr cables are much smaller and easier to hook up.
Plus I have a few trs-to-DIN cables so I never need adapters.
Just to say, full-sized DIN might not necessarily be better than trs in all cases.

I guess I missed when these were actually stocked for a bit? I'm looking at 8+ weeks on my Standalone order now. Oh, well. Time for anticipation build-up I suppose.
Yeah, it’s saying “ Out of stock Back in stock in 8+ weeks” on the UK store for the non-standalone version - standalone is in stock here though.
I’ll be getting a non-standalone one at some point, no rush though.
I’m definitely feeling the pull off the standalone tbh, been after a linnstrument type thing for a long long time now, and I never dreamed of one with the Ableton/Max stuff embedded…
Yeah, I don’t have any MPE controllers, and to have this functionality on the Push 3 is just wonderful so it’s a real attraction for me. I can’t afford a standalone, but it’s great they’ve provided an upgrade path if I have the funds in future.
Really great device, this. I think the only problem will be trying to get hold of one!!

Yeah, I just pre-ordered the Standalone and it said 8 weeks (I'm in the US). I have never been more excited about a piece of hardware. I was mentally just settling for "if they could just get a drum rack in push, I'd be in heaven". This is way beyond my expectations. Especially all of the expansion capabilities with Audio Interface+ADAT, CV controls, battery powered, and midi hub. BUT the thing I wasn't really caring about until I saw how it affected drums was the MPE pads. Being able to more realistically play a kit with subtle changes based on pad strike location...crazy!
I will be promptly selling my Digtakt. Will not need that anymore. Will most likely keep my syntakt though
@Tarekith Do you know if Push3 can download Set's from Ableton Cloud without a computer and straight up over wifi?
Good point. I believe the Novation Launchpad Pro (Mk3) cables are type A too.
Actually, I'd be really interested to know if Novation (or other MIDI controller companies) will aim to get their devices that have native LIVE integration to also work when plugged into the Push 3 Standalone.
Would be great to have the Launchkey Mk3 plugged in and spread the Ableton control over the 2 devices.

I'm not interested in the standalone functionality as long as no VST plug-ins can be loaded and there is no arrangement view (which I don't expect to be added in the future based on the size of the display). What I am interested in, however, are the MPE pads. But 64 pads are not enough for two-handed playing (chords & melody). Therefore, the combination of a Push 2 and a LinnStrument is still the best choice for me. In my opinion, this could also be a good option for new Ableton users (secondhand Push 2 + LinnStrument 128 or even 200 and Live Suite). Of course this is no longer a portable setup, but the Push 3 seems much too large (and too valuable) for that anyway. I still prefer the SP 404 mk2 & an iPad for mobile music making. Put it's very cool that Ableton pushes MPE (both hardware and software)!
I do not believe that is currently possible, not seeing any mention of it in the manual.

Does the Push 3 Standalone have a MIDI spec whereby plugged in controllers can control various parameters?
or does Push 3 have MIDI Learn functionality for connected controllers?
Drat. I was hoping for "fart around with Note on something while waiting in line somewhere, hop over to a coffee shop with my Push 3 and download that set from the cloud and start farting around with it". But it looks like I have to actually have my MacBook involved in the middle there.
The standalone has full Ableton live so with midi controllers if you have the right remote midi settings on (in the Ableton live computer midi preferences) then the controller will work with the templates it has.
With midi cc learn mappings you can do all that on the computer/ push 3 controller mode, save the project then all the mappings will be in the project for the standalone.
i don't know if direct midi cc learn mapping in standalone mode will be a thing.

Oh Hey! No I don't have you on ignore, I saw that Tarekith replied with the differing opinion. I watched a couple vid's and I think he's right, unfortunately, right now WiFi is basically "local network access only". I'm hoping that eventually changes, OR they add the ability for the Push3 to connect to my iPhone over WiFi and access the set's that are within Note directly just like the MacBook.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I’d have thought being able to download firmware updates and packs would mean it’s not restricted to a local network? Unless they’re transferred from a desktop.
Yeah I saw another vid and I think it's only wifi over the network to and from your computer for now unfortunately....I'm sure that'll evolve though at some point.

With a nice playing surface, ton of buttons and encoders, and integrated audio interface, it could be interesting to see a DIY community developing around it, in the spirit of the Organelle, Norns and similar devices.

what im sort of dreaming about is this push 3 thingy is on Linux and you can upgrade the CPU and harddrive etc.. what's stopping really smart programmers hacking it and make all sorts of standalone unofficial firmware things possible? its a nice thought. Also midi 2.0 is around the corner.
