Yeah same, watching the video I linked you above and I was very excited, it just made immediate sense to me, and made me think I actually might be able to produce some tangible music as opposed to just endless noodling (which I love and will never stop doing)
I hope it doesn't mean they are going to remove from desktop logic features not supported by iPad logic
After playing around with LP for 1,5 days I’m impressed yet unimpressed at the same time.
Sequencer and mixer are really great IMO. I definitely expected less.
But the logic fx and instrument plugins. What the heck? Most of them just seem unfinished. All knobs and parameters chucked together without any UI? Endless scrolling?
I really hope they’ll fix that in the next updates and give the plugins some more UI with proper UX.
Otherwise nothing to complain about.
Hopefully Flex Pitch will still come.
Oh and floating plug-in windows would be amazing! Really prefer them in AUM!
I share same idea of what you state particularly UI for Fx , knobs …. Feel it a bit boring sometimes even Chromaverb should deserve better knobs. I don’t talk about the quality of FX but the pleasure to use them. For sure also I understand that it is a work in progress and IPad screen is pretty small for such a daw.
Anyone played with the drum machine designer much yet?
It seems great but a bit cumbersome at the same time. Will be a good alternative to auv3 multi-out if I can get my head round it!
I’ve not found a particularly easy way to add a new ‘drum’ to it yet. I’m adding a new pattern track with quick sampler - this it seems to like. But then if I go to the sequencer on the main DMD track, this new track doesn’t show up in kit pieces that you can choose from 🤷♂️
Ok, figured it out. Both the HH and Snare pads at the bottom were set to the same input note.
There must be an easier way to add a new drum sound without this faff. Will have a look at the manual.
Edit: there is, just drag it to the empty pad in the playing surfaces. Right, I’m going to rtfm before posting any more 😂
“If all else fails, read the manual.” That has been my philosophy forever. Some things never change.
On DMD… is there a way to bring in my own one shots? I tried the slide over thing but I get a message that slide over isn’t supported. Going to reboot it quick. iPad 9th gen (I think, whichever has lightning and A13 proc)
Edit: my bad, I was trying split screen. Works fine!
Now I have DMD channels inexplicably linked in the mixer (move main fader, another pad fader moves with it???) but whatever I’ll figure it out.
Overall pretty cool.
Just downloaded.
Can it load a video and sync the video with the transport and timeline?
I'm impressed with the app, but I'm disappointed with the manual. If someone goes to the trouble to create dozens of pdf pages and add a download link to every help page online, I don't expect to be disappointed.
The PDF of the manual is interactive. Click on page numbers and it'll take you there. Click on highlighted terms and it'll take you there.
And besides, the manual is hundreds of pages long (959 pages, to be precise).
I quote myself, I just found Ableton Link in the project settings. So Lumbeat drummers run in sync with Logic. Now if there was a way to pipe the audio into Logic, that would be cool. I will check Ape Matrix.
Unfortunately still no midi recording for me. The track stays empty. What am i doing wrong?
VisualSwift could do this if you once had it installed, but it is no longer on the AppStore for new customers. Alternative is https://apps.apple.com/gb/app/wireless-audio-auv3/id1597851234 I remember there being problems with using this type of audio send/receive app with GarageBand as GB used some odd sample rates for its instruments. Logic might have inherited this behaviour so would be worth seeing if someone with that combo of apps has got it working before investing in another app.
Can we use Omnisphere or any desktop plugin on it ?
Yay!
As they are VST you can’t use on iOS ´ in iOS you can only use AUv3 and open the project on Mac LP to use VST like omnisphere
Okay, thanks! Looks interesting, so if I have this app, I run Lumbeat or an other IAA in AUM, put this app as a transmitter behind it on the same channel, and on the same Ipad in Logic I run the receiver app.
6 euro is the cost for this experiment... if it works it is a cheap solution and if it fails it is a huge waste of money
No.
Is there any way to export MIDI from Logic? It's an essential requirement for my workflow as I only use the IPad to start things off then export MIDI and audio to Windows to finish projects. Can't see an option for this at the moment - hope I'm missing something obvious sad this is what stopped me using GaragerBand...
+1 Richard! I was struck by both apps having the identical soundpacks and both APPS looking striking similar as well. One being free while the other is a sub. I am bit baffled at this was expecting way more (new) soundpacks in LP. Cheers, ED
Scripter Midi Plugin - Real Time Quantizer. Love it
Highly unlikely that the reason is to discourage you from using your own samples. Far more likely that a file browser was a lower priority than getting it out by their target release date...with an app this massive, even big developers will fail to implement everything in release 1... and then use user response to prioritize implementation of the next wave of features. That's a pretty typical process for app development...particularly apps with massive feature sets.
As a past dev I can only agree , it was a challenge to meet the date of release for LP iOS so minimum pack, minimum file management and the team of dev have time to add more and more in each updates and Apple to release more sounds packs.
Notice than even LP OS wasn’t released before LP iOS it come after certainly because all LP dev team was dedicated to launch LP iOS.
This really struck me as weird too. There are so many seemingly capable synths and FX in this thing with the most uninspiring UIs I’ve seen in a long time. Not a show stopper but hopefully they get some love in an upcoming release.
I see the new version has appeared on the store!
Vastly simplifying the UI and getting rid of legacy skeuomorphism likely saved them a lot as far as slimming down the size of the app goes.

Yes true that plus saved them time and money spent on UI/UX people.
I’m sure making tabs for different fx sections or just organising all knobs and faders in a more intuitive way won’t increase the file size. Also important meters and indicators are missing! For example in compressor. That’s exactly the strength of the Logic desktop compressor. Seeing the compression meter over time and knee shape etc. or at least the gain reduction meter. Where is all that good stuff?
Not sure why it’s not working for you - I don’t have chordpolypad. Works fine in Scaler 2.8 midi fx for me, but that’s the only one I’ve tried so far…
Apologies if this has been covered.
Is there any way to use an external monitor with iPad Pro Logic, so I can have certain windows stay there? IE can I open the Limiter, and have it open on the external monitor?
Or a way to get the mixer screen to the external monitor?
I get it, “get a Mac” if I want to do this - don’t want to. I already have a PC and am attempting to kinda mimic that workflow a little. I don’t see a way to get anything from one screen ie the iPad native screen, to the external monitor.
It would be amazing if this was possible, I might just be missing something - it might already be possible, I don’t know.
