I guess, but would be cooler without having to edit, just being able to export the exact slice you need ;-)
Any way, the new gadgets are cool, but the manual in Gadget still does not contain info on them :-(
I really hope they come out with something soon, because I can't really figure out how Abu Dhabi's slicing works when you import samples.
Just been enjoying the new gadgets with a sample from Steppenwolf - The Pusher and some George Bush - "Bushisms".
Ace!
Great tune - the Pusher. Please post...
Not hard for me to imagine Mister Bush popping a lot of pills, but that's whole 'nother line of inquiry Doctor...

Thanks for this, was just what the doctor ordered this pm.
Glarghhhhhh.
May others learn from my pain/shame.
Had an inspired 45 minutes going back to an 'old' gadget piece (pre all this recent fuss) and made a roaring addition, loud, exultant almost, something good.
Pleased with myself. Went off to march around the house (or get tea or whatever). Came back and decided to open up a few other old files, see if there were any other nuggets I could lay my suddenly magic hands on.
Wound up back at my most recent triumph and realized, horribly, that I hadn't saved the work. All gone. Seems I've been noodling in other things, other apps, that auto-save. Here, not so much. Own fault. Nail in forehead. Not good.
I know we've all had it, but a particular kind of sickly feeling. Perhaps one kind of hell for us would be somewhere we repeatedly do things we like and then lose them. As Elizabeth Phelps once said:
Passion takes no count of time; peril marks no hours or minutes; wrong makes its own calendar; and misery has solar systems peculiar to itself.
So annoying Gadget doesn't autosave! I've had similar happen.
I'm pleased because I got a long section (16 bars) of ext audio into Gadget tonight via 16 pads of Bilbao fairly painlessly and it sounds decent. Thanks for peoples help on this.

I discovered tonight that the audiocopy app has quite a powerful pinch to zoom feature and a decent way to 'micro fade' the start and the end of clips to get rid of clicks. So you can just tweak and reimport to gadget really easily.

you prob have this app already but it's great for fade ins/outs…
weird I tried to copy the video from the time where they are showing you how to do the fades but for some reason it won't play from that point anyways it's at 2:38 in the clip.

Yeah, the new gadgets NEED micro fades. In fact I'd put that as priority #1 if I were Korg.
I'm hearing clicks on even some of the default kits and samples, which uh, screams unprofessional. I know it's just a little ol' app, but this is Korg.
You can get rid of some of the clicks, or at least minimize them, if you move the start point or marker ever so slightly. But yeah, we shouldn't have to do that when there is a simple solution, that solution being MICRO FADES! Come on Korg!
Couldn't agree more. Just got Abu and that's the first thing that nagged me. I knew of the issue with user made samples, but really thought the factory kits would NOT click. I even tried adjusting attack and decay but that did little to help. Any other tips for getting rid of them? A band pass filter fx? And like others have said - we need to be able to delete samples in Gadget itself.
But in my 30 mins of play - I would say it is great for chopping up drum loops to get cool fills and breaks. And landscape is nice - even though I didn't care about this I thought.
Oh also - I couldn't manage to delete all the chop markers - was always left with 3 or 4 that I could not move. ???
As simple as it is, I'm just grateful (I remembered to save):
sweet piece there @johnnygoodyear

I've done this as we'll earlier. I can't believe they still haven't implemented at least a warning when you are about to overwrite an unsaved song :-(
Yar, warning would be nice but I'm not a fan of auto-save. Especially with Gadget's not quite undo.
@syrupcore said:
You're right, I would prefer just a warning when you are about to loose unsaved work, seems so basic, I wonder why it's not there yet. I even added it to their Gadget Community forum (not that it's much of a Community ;-) more like a ghost town).
I'd like to formally apologize if I misled anyone with my recommendation of the two new gadgets earlier in the thread. I can't recommend them anymore because of the clicks. They become more evident when you move the start point in Bilbao, or the markers in Abu Dhabi, something I hadn't done too much of before recommending them.
Bottom line is if you want to get creative with some samples you're likely going to run into some clicking, and getting creative with samples is a large part of the point of using a sampler in the first place.
If Korg doesn't remedy this glaring issue by adding micro fades I'm going to be disappointed. Again I apologize and have edited the post where I recommended these new gadgets.
Unfortunately I'm still noticing a ringing distortion on low frequencies (like sub bass synths and bass heavy kick drums) when the limiter is turned on. I'm sure anyone can reproduce this. I know I'm not the only one who's noticed it. This bug been around since Gadget was first released.
Just for check o cant resist and i ll like to buy Abu Dhabi but please answer this.
If a do a loop in gadget, impc pro, or DM-1 and i load it in Abu Dhabi i will ear the clicks?
can't wait to get your feedback on abudhabi Aphex!
should you choose to except this mission
Ipad mini here and latest gadgets. Mpk225 via low power mode ind cck.
Chiangmai and helsinki wont play a note from mpk, others plated ok.
Started to change gadgets from the begining using the same slote and when i came to chaing it started to play.
Anyone else?

I will upload a few vids as soon i buy it, but i just need to know if the clicks are always in any loop
There's no bug or anything causing clicks. It does what it says it does, and does it really well, with quite a few parameters/fx and an arpeggiator to mash/smash your loops up really nice.

What gadgets were used to make this track? Nice and clean and simple. Like the vibe.
johnnygoodyear that was dope I enjoyed that allot
@Aphex said:
It depends on the loop and how you intend to play back the notes. There's a good chance you will run into clicks if there isn't a smooth fade in, and they also sometimes happen when you trigger notes too close to one another on the timeline. You can kind of sidestep them with some fidgeting of the markers and preparing your loop properly beforehand, but even then there is a risk of hearing them.
I don't mean to scare anyone away because it, along with Bilbao, are certainly usable. It's just I'd be lying if I said they weren't there.
Glad it struck a chord (sorry . I am far away from that little piece this evening, up here on the 29th floor of a hotel in Chicago where it feels cold (compared to Austin). Thickly horrible day full of work and can't wait to get the hell out of here. OK. Vent over.
Gadgets used on this little thing were 2xChaingMai and 3xBilbao. Bass sample from TJ. Odd middle mixing from Auria/Volcano 2. And yes, I recognize that a bunch of it is out of time, but I promise to fix that if I ever get back to Texas.....

no need to apologize, if the synths in gadget had half the level of issues reported here in the samplers people would be jumping off roofs, but because they're samplers it's so not a big deal, well…….. i don't think so. I want to edit my samples as much as I want to edit my synth patches. when the impc came out you couldn't delete samples either but you see there is a big ole trash can on there now cause what sampling musician doesn't want to delete unwanted samples. and the reports of clicks in samples from the on board library our troublesome but more troublesome is the fact that you can't edit clicks out in the samplers themselves… everyone wants to send you to a zillion other apps to do what you should be able to do in gadget but nobody talks like that when it comes to the other modules in gadget…. i loathe inconsistency. anyway thanks to chris g i had to cut off my hand so I wouldn't prematurely press the buy button but this is just the first time they drop the samplers in , I'm sure when they update things will get ironed out.
