Psst, according to buzz machine 8 measures at 96BPM == 10 seconds.

  • Thank you sir, very handy....

    Sorry this isn't correct - 8 beats at 96bpm = 5 secs.
    60 secs divide by 96 = 0.625 secs per beat, times 8 beats = 5 secs.

    A few more minor thoughts:

The new MIDI CC controls are pretty sweet to have, especially considering Gadget's ability to automate. Normally when it comes to MIDI I tend to keep things simple, but after dinking around with some different controllers I may start to include more complex setups. Nice detail to have!

Not only does it suck not being able to delete user samples, but even setting up user kits with factory samples kind of sucks as well, because they just give you one long list. Yeah you can search, but grouping them in folders would be much better. Heres to hoping they get their act together regarding sample organization and management. Ideally they'd group the factory samples into folders by kit, so you didn't have to scroll through everything. Then for user samples let users delete and rename user samples, as well as organize those samples into folders so you didn't have to scroll through those too.

  • Korg mentioned on Twitter that they've noted the request for better sample management.

  • It amazes me that nobody mentioned editing samples to them, destructive trimming and truncating of samples at the absolute bare minimum, import of audio through iTunes library, audition of samples in your iTunes library, deletion of samples

If their synths omitted the same level of stuff, they wouldn't have sold 5 copies of the app

You are absolutely correct, sorry/thank you. I exported about 30 wave files tonight from NanoStudio and BM2 of kits I've built over time. 4 measures each, 16 quarter notes at 96bpm. Audioshare reports them as 9.999s. All on my phone so I haven't had a chance to try them in gadget yet.

  • If I was on twitter I'd tell them myself

  • There is a contact form on their website: http://www.korg.com/us/support/contact/

They're on FB as well: https://www.facebook.com/korg.iapps

  • Done and done Telecharge, their FBI page was a mess though, felt like they will never see it

  • There appears to be a bug when saving user presets in the new gadgets. Basically it shows the waveforms but looses the actual samples. The work around is to just reassign the sample(s).

This seems to only happen once, when you first 'save as' a new user preset using user samples. After you fix as above you can edit and save again without any problems.

  • Does anyone have a good workflow for resampling gadget. Say I want to render a loop in gadget and load that back in to Abu, is there a quick way to do this?

  • @afta8 export the loop to audiocopy and then paste it back into Abu Dhabi

@SaveAs: That "Thriller" killer video was great!

Export scene to dropbox, load from dropbox into Abu Dhabi?

Edit: Yeah, audiocopy would be faster of course.

  • Export the track to iTunes, then just open it in Abu. No iTunes or audiocopy needed.

    Thanks everyone,

If I export to iTunes then the file will stay there forever until I remove it by connecting to a pc right?

Correct me if I'm wrong, It seems Audiocopy seems best as it would allow for trimming of samples and Dropbox is best for file management options

Edit: Actually gadget can't export clips, it's either tracks or master, so Audiocopy is best option really as you can trim samples

Being (deep down) from the Harumph Humbug School I rarely tweet, but I did make the effort as regards admin (renaming/deleting samples) to @korg_iapps. The tide of history needs a nudge every now and then.

Predictably, I'm @johnnygoodyear on Twitter, perhaps we could/should start a directory/list of forum members for that service. I follow very few folks, just haven't got into it, but would be interested in keeping up with many of your blurtings out in the real world....

  • @afta8 Wouldn't the file stay there "forever" no matter how you import it since there is no delete?

  • loving the abu sampler.. so much fun! though i created this loop this morning... the sample and drums sounded simple but so so so good... hip hop classic in the making i thought... then it crashed and i lost it and im unable to remake it the same! lost classic!! :( gutted haha

  • @firejan82, Yes that's what I mean there is no delete if you export to iTunes however you can delete those files when you connect to iTunes on a PC/Mac. Alternatively if you use Dropbox or Audiocopy you can delete the exported files from within the apps so no need to connect to iTunes to manage your files.

Basically export to iTunes has the least options for file management

    Abu Dhabi is pure fun!

  • @afta if you use Dropbox or Audiocopy to import a sample into Gadget, that sample will stay inside of Gadget exactly the same way as it would if you used export to iTunes. So unless you need to trim the sample I don't see the point of using anything else for resampling Gadget than export to iTunes. That's the point I was trying to make but maybe I'm missing something.

  • So wait, you get an Ableton Lite license with Gadget? Where is it?

How does the Lite version of Ableton compare to other free/freemium DAW's for desktop (like Reaper or MultiTrackStudio)?

It's in the app - export menu.

Thanks! Can't wait to check that out. Been doing a lot of messing around with PC/VST lately. All new world for me.

  • @firejan, ah right, I see what you mean, it's like a global sample pool available to every project. Hope they add some organisation to it in future

  • Sorry, but I'm a bit lost...

Please, which are the steps to get the free Ableton Live Lite license?

    Thanks.
