Just some thoughts on effects in Gadget:
Something that might be helpful for explaining the effects included in the app would be the Korg iPolysix PDF manual (1.97MB). Neither of the Gadget manuals covers the effects for some reason, and they're largely the same in iPolysix.
Some of the gadgets could really use more than one (or none!) effect slot.
The reverb on the send could sound better. It's not terrible, just mediocre.
Stereo BPM-synced delay would be great.
Pump effect just can't properly simulate sidechain compression even with a steady 4/4 kick.
Being able to copy and paste automations freely would be helpful.
A buss compressor for the drum/sample gadgets would be nice for giving beats a little glue.
That's all I've got for now.

Sounds like you're productive already on iOS so I wouldn't really bother unless you actually have a need and are ok with constantly clicking on menus on a computer screen with a mouse/trackpad.
The main benefit of Ableton Live for me is:
Thanks @shortbus. Very useful. Much appreciated.
I've played with the non-linear clip view and although I like, I'm actually finding I can emulate it using Genome on the iPad (in terms of midi anyway). When starting a track in Gadget I also create lots of 'clips' all along the same scene 1 and use mute/solo to emulate the same kind of clip-jamming until i've figured out a rough structure for the track.
Timestretching I'm not sure I need. Right now I mostly use Midi to drive synths - plus one shot vocal and FX samples or audio sample mashups in Samplr or Sector (using those apps to get it into tempo). So timestretching isn't something I know much about really. Useful for using 'found loops' and out of key/tempo samples I guess?

Well, there's offline timestretch and realtime timestretch. Using realtime timestretch with loops can be useful to mess around with different global tempo if you're not sure you want to stick to the tempo you're working in.
Ah ok. Thanks.

Is there a way to finetrim the Abu Dhabi slices/marker?It's a bit fiddly as it is.
I tried to get this info through reading but got tired from all the moaning of the IAP (prices),so,i stopped reading on page 4-5...
Just a tip for all korg apps:there is an unusual but working fine tuning for (nearly)all parameter:if it's a knob just nudge a bit over it (to the left or right) to increment or decrement it by one step per nudge.Doesn't work for for the marker in the slicer though.
Just to be clear - did you find a way to automate tempo change? Somebody asked a question about mid-song tempo change and I've been trying to figure out how to do it in Gadget - it's been bugging me ever since.
This is not true with Tempo. I tried just now.
I did some tempo changes in the song below by using multiples / divisions of the beat, doubling or halving is easy, but with a little planning you can use triplets to get some interim relative tempos too. This was all done in Gadget but is not your typical dance song! It also pre-dates Module, so the piano for example is just the one from the Marseilles gadget.
Thinking about getting Bilbao, but don't like the crippled sample management (no rename/delete user samples from within app).
Or did Korg fix this?
it's bothersome but having the ability to import samples is more than worth the hassle, in my opinion. personally i dont like to use anything more than once so i always clear out my samples after ten or so imports. but then again i'm not using bilbao for drums, usually.
Bought Bilbao today and was happy to discover user samples can be deleted by swiping.
Hey guys, sorry old thread but I'm late to the Gadget party but the fact that it's set up to export to Ableton peaked my interest.
Does the app still have the clicking problem with samples? Also, can you import directly from music library like Egoist?
Thanks in advance
Huh???
Oh.
If you repeatedly hit the same sample very fast (and the sample is a longer one shot) then yes, it will click.
It does this because it uses the same voice per pad. And thus interupts the sample with the new instance of the sample. It's livable with, probably - depending on what you want to do.
Not sure what you mean about directly import. You can import a sub 10 sec audio file into Abu Dhabi via drop box or audiocopy and paste.
Damn thought a new gadget release was out lol
So did I
Thanks for digging this up and messing with everyone's blood pressure
The Doctor said I will be fine, if I rest up for a week and keep off AB forum for a while lol
Ooo I'll give you such a pinch! Lol. I thought Korg released a new update given that Labour Day is tomorrow in the US.
Got me too
I have made a little note in my 'when the revolution comes' book etc.
Oh sorry guys haha. Apologies for the false hope. Yeah for $60, I will pass as I specifically wanted the sampling features. I typically sample from my music library so this doesn't make it user friendly like say Egoist or even BM2 does. And the clicking just shows sampling was more of an afterthought (although Ableton export was a brilliant idea)
Found the following message on korgforums:
Hopefully the iPolysix & Monopoly modules are gonna be added in the next update?
Can't check if it's true but... fingers crossed
Hmmm, not really my cup of tea. I think there are enough synths inside Gadget. I would prefer more sampling gadgets and crazy fx gadgets ;-)
Well, iPolysix has a very capable drum synthesizer. I'd like to see that in Gadget. Tokyo just doesn't work for me
The Polysix is one of my all time favourite synths, having intergrated in gadget would amazing.. And monopoly! Yes please.
I use them both as rack extensions in Reason and they are fantastic, they really benefit from parameter automation which gadget would provide .. Hope it's true
For all we might wish (and we do) they've made pretty good choices about the material they've added. Just would like to see them keep going...
