    I very, very seldom even launch apps using icons and search for the plug-ins when I need them :sunglasses:
    So for me it really doesn't matter at all, they could even have super generic app icons.

    Codenames?

    Saturator shows the Saturator when I search for it as one example, Filter shows the filter.
    No need to search for 'code names' when used in a 'DAW/Host' that supports proper search...

    Yep, I also dislike these icons and the use of these names instead of names like Murf, ClusterFlux, Drive etc. It's similar to how random strings of letters are used for the identifiers in the cv system, instead of what would be a clearly superior system of using randomly generated words. It's mind boggling! But yes, good to see the Moog people in here, for sure, and I also wish nothing but the best for everyone still working there

    Even those proper names will be enough. Now, the only option left is to make shortcuts for every Moog FX.

    Edit: The host won't recognize shortcuts.

    That’s not working, it barely shows anything.

    Really? If you search for filter in say AUM, Drambo, Logic etc. you get the Moog one in there, same with the saturator etc.

    It shows 30% at the best. Also, in the reverberation field, apps are not that specific.

    Reverbration field? No, Samu is right, they do show when you search by name for Murf or whatever. But they ideally should have more differentiation in the icon colours - 3 variations on red? 🤔

    If you need more detailed search results then AUBE to the rescue :)

    Even without 'Delay' in the apps file-name Siri is smart enough to find it when searching for a delay.

    You know: chorus, flanger, phaser, reverb, delay, echo?! Many FX apps contain combinations of different abilities in that field. It's never a one-dimensional thing. I'm not the Samu. ;)

  • @Luxthor said:

    Try AUBE, It will index all your AUv3's and tag/categorize them accordingly.

    There's a reason why I've done my 'app cleanup' and only kept the stuff I actually enjoy using :sunglasses:

  • My issue with the icons occurs once they're loaded into AUM not when I'm first searching for them. AUM shows a vertical string of icons and, if I have more than one Moog effect running in a channel, I have to open them one at a time to find the one I'm looking for to make an adjustment.

    Why label it MF-104S, they all use S, why not 104DLY so I know instantly it's the delay? Why would anyone argue against clarity and ease of use?

  • Swipe right on a 'blob' in AUM shows the plug-in name.

  • This doesn't only affect Moog, Eventide apps can also cause slight confusion.
    AUM tries to stay 'clean' when it comes to the UI but it could optionally show the plug-in name under the bubble.

    Before we go too far in our misunderstanding, I can’t differentiate between Moog FX plugins. I don’t have any problem finding other apps at all. I have Aube, and I’m using this app rarely.

  • I must agree, it would be so much easier to have the actual names instead of seemingly arbitrary numbers and letters. It just takes unnecessary extra time working with them, using a bunch/ all of them. An objective observation of the user experience.
    Otherwise they're magnificent

    Ok, sorry...
    Even though I have rapidly degrading eye-sight (as in reading) colors still work somewhat well for me.
    (I can't even clearly read the font-sizes AUM uses on the iPhone 8. They are just too small for me).

    Thankfully I can still see colors quite clearly, don't know what I'd do if I loose that ability too...

    Dark Orage = MF-107S Filter
    Light Orange = MF-107S Saturator
    Dark Red = MF-107S Phaser
    Light Red = MF-107S Clutser Flux
    White = MF-107S Delay
    Yellow = MF-107S FreqBox
    Blue = MF-107S Ring Mod
    Knobby Thing = MF-107S Murf

    One thing AUM could add here is double-sized bubbles and include the full plug-in name(ex. FS-107S Filter) inside the 'Bubble'.

    If I could I would replace all icons with text-boxes.

  • @Samu said:

    Degrading eyesight is something I can sympathize with, having the same issues on that front. 🤓

    Light Red = MF-107S Clutser Flux

    Blue = MF-107S Ring Mod
    Knobby Thing = MF-107S Murf

    I would also be happy with just naming it like this:

    One thing AUM could add here is double-sized bubbles and include the full plug-in name(ex. FS-107S Filter) inside the 'Bubble'.

    Custom keyword grouping is something AUM could have, but Jonatan already has a lot on his to-do list.

    The naming of these suggest to me that Moog would benefit having more outsiders on their betas. Because using the letter / number combos seems like something obviously not optimal to most of us, but perhaps people in the team who have been working there for years and were there when each hardware unit came out had so long to get used to the letter / number combos as the main name that they didn't really twig that this way might be annoying for users. I still can't fathom the use of 3 variations on red in the plugin icon colourings, that I find most bizarre.

    They were probably true to the original devices, but translating this to the icons on iOS is an unfortunate decision. But those naming codes are the main problem here. For example, 4pockets don’t even have icons; I mean, it’s just one icon for everything. But with proper naming, you don’t really care.

    I’ve been in contact with @MoogMusicInc and they are looking into it so hopefully they can work it out somehow. <3

    Thanks for bringing this to our attention. We've released an update for all the Moogerfooger iOS plugins today that fixes this issue.

    We also updated the app icons so that it's easier to identify which Moogerfooger plugin is running in hosts that don't always display the plugin name (like AUM).

    ❤️ your friends at Moog

    Many thanks for the update and continued support :-)
