NEW App: King of Digital - EPIC Hybrid Synth, 900+ Presets
Hey Everyone!
So, it's been a wild ride of about 6 years since I dived headfirst into the mad world of music apps with Digital D1, AudioKit's first paid music app. We were fairly new to a lot of concepts, and AUv3? That was like sci-fi to us.
It’s been a long journey, and it feels like I've racked up enough experience to earn what feels like a PhD in music app making. There's been lots of late nights for those $3 and $4 apps. It’s been a tough gig, but hey, I'm still standing. And, going solo with this app (as with King of FM, SNES, and King of Bass).
As many of you old school folks remember – D1 launched launched ages ago with a little over 300 presets. People loved the retro sounds, the dual filters, stacked views, and great presets.
More and more people contributed, and I've been secretly recording and gathering sounds for the D1 sequel. It's kind of crazy to think that King of Digital is dropping with

The new sounds are pretty epic. And the old ones are like a time machine through the past six years of iOS Music, with legendary presets from Brice Beasley, DMT Cymatics, Moby Pixel, Red Sky Lullaby, Jakob Haq, Electronisounds (Dean Daughters), Sound of Izrael, rs2000, Mitch the AudioDabbler, Brian Funk, and more.
And, I even swallowed my pride and made sure AudioKit's biggest detractors on this forum got the pre-release and gave me their feedback. (Which was surprisingly good).
Creating a new app inspired by an old one presented unique challenges. One funny one –
During the testing phase, I discovered that some presets in King of Digital sound different from D1, no matter what I tried. This was because some of the original samples in D1 weren't playing back correctly! So for some of you, this will be the first-time experiencing the original D1 PCM Sounds as they were truly meant to be heard.
I toyed with the idea of slicing up these PCM Cards and presets into pricey in-app goodies. But you know what? Scrap that. You get the whole dang thing, all in one.

And the cost-benefit is just amazing. 900 presets by some of the best names in the game is a lot of material for any synth, regardless of price!

I know I've been a bit harsh on AK (the 'framework' not the persons behind it) from time to time and with hands on the heart, I do feel that the 'harshness' is/was needed in order to push things forward to the level where they are at today, others might disagree and I accept that.
My main intention is and always will be to push things forward to become even better and definitely not 'trash things' and sometimes a bit of 'hard love' is needed

Just like King of FM is a new updated app for FM Player - the new King of Digital will replace D1. New app - same presets as D1 plus about 500 more new ones. And if it’s like king of FM it should be super stable hosted in DAWs now.

@Ailerom , nah im good, Doug has a video premiering soon. The faces are stupid, the hype is stupid. Not saying anything about this specific app, just the lame game in general of "playing towards/for shit algorithms". So with what little power i have left in the world, anytime stupid faces are suggested to me... DO NOT RECOMMEND channel again If the product is legit then it will speak for itself, not MINDBLOWN GAMECHANGER APP title for stuff ppl won't ever use in another video again, or ppl having to have their face in the screen to cover part of the PRODUCT im trying to see. But everyone wants to be a star...
