You’re a gem @analog_matt. This is awesome. Thank you!

Dumb question - does the 3gig library download happen the background after opening the app for the first time is does it need to be initiated somehow?

The whole library is in the initial download, about 480 MB. The app "upgrades" itself when first opened stand-alone. That's it.

So, after you open it in standalone it uncompresses the data and then uses 3 gig of space on your iPad..?

The sounds are compressed using WavPack from .wav to .wv file format. There is more info about it in the AudioKit documentation: https://www.audiokit.io/DunneAudioKit/documentation/dunneaudiokit/preparing-sample-sets

It’s using 488.6MB on my iPad. The samples must be in m4a

    OK, thank you.

I am going to get this app on the weekend but I don't think I have 3 gig free - but 488Mb I can handle ok.

If I'm not totally mistaken the samples are compressed using lossless wavpack compression.

@AnalogMatthew can correct me if I'm wrong on this...

Woah! This is fucking GREAT! Totally loving these sounds. Congrats on the release @analog_matt

Quick question folks - this is surely user error, but LFO3 seems kinda elusive. Like sometimes it’s there and other times I can’t see it. Can someone explain the modulation routing? It doesn’t feel entirely intuitive

Not sure if you got an answer yet, but you press the cog wheel in the top right corner next to info to access the page with the 3rd LFO, flanger, vibrato, etc. I also struggled to find it again after accidentally stumbling upon it, at first I thought I had found another hidden secret page à la Synth One (see video)

Ah! No, no one had answered so thanks!
And thanks @wim for pointing out the tag change - I just copied what the person in the previous post had done!> @uncledave said:

Please check my description of the slightly mysterious way the top controls operate. I'm having trouble getting used to tapping Main to hide the preset selection menu.

    Got it - cheers @uncledave !

  • This sounds amazing…. the best sounding AudioKit app by a long shot. Pairs especially nice with BA-1.

I’ll put it like this… it helped cure my app addiction and I’m now on purchase moratorium!

  • @analog_matt
    On iPhone version
If I use the search in presets
Say I type in bass, it shows lots to choose from, if I click a title it loads it ( would like to hear it 1st, and then it is just shown in a list, I was expecting to then have a list of only bass stuff, as that is what I want to see, hear

Y'know, you can edit your post for quite a long time (a day, week?). Just tap on the gear icon on one of your posts and select Edit. Sometimes, we just trim an erroneous post down to dot (.); unfortunately we cannot delete it altogether. Just a suggestion for future use.

    I should know that
I just checked, I have been on this forum since 2013, not sure my music making skills have improved during that period either
Just got less money and a shed full of apps 😂

Agreed! The only synth I still really want to get is Cube Synth Pro, but I just missed the sale. I already have Addstation so I don’t necessarily need it. Not sure if the underlying engine is the same or not so I’m more undecided.

Regarding KoD yes it sounds excellent. The last 6-7 AudioKit apps have been absolutely fantastic. Actually I take that back, they’re all great 😂

The Autotune and 909 one are the only 2 I don’t have.

The autotune one doesn’t work… no matter what you do it reverts back to the default key

I still have Agonizer and the ApeSoft quartet left to get (Stria, Sparkle, IPulsaret, IDensity) but I can wait barring a sale lol

Ah damn that’s a bummer. At least there’s some new competition in that sphere now.

Agonizer is great but scaling in AUM is wonky. You have to go full size to see the whole shebang otherwise it cuts some stuff out. Other than that is great, but just figured I’d mention it.

The Apesoft stuff is just incredible though. Stria and iDensity especially.

I can't speak for the Autotune, but the 909 has the significant caveat that the Kick drum has an audible delay that puts it out of sync with everything else. If you're fairly tolerant of such things for just playing around, it can be lived with. But for anything finished you really have to render the kick track separately and nudge it back into time in a DAW.

It's unlikely to ever be fixed and there's nothing that Matt or AudioKit Pro can do to cause that to happen. Skip it if you're sensitive to f*cked up timing.

Other than that, it's a great 909 experience and sounds great. I would not buy it today on the principle of not supporting a developer that won't or can't fix such things, but I enjoy having it and don't regret the purchase.

  • Thank you @analog_matt for such a marvelous group of sounds. This is a fundamental app. I haven’t been this switched on in many years.

  • Ok, 0k, you guys convinced me. But after this one I and really not buying anymore synths. 😉

I’m reminding myself the same thing … yet ApeSoft usually has a cyber Monday sale and Stria and Sparkle keep batting their non-existent eyes at me

It's fairly easy to fix actually tho - just use 2 instances and use an offset utility node in aum to fix the timing on the kick. Using 2 instances can be handy anyway as you might often want to sidechain the kick. So, yes, this was definitely a big problem before AUM got that offset node, but it's been totally useable in live jams in AUM since that handy little utility was added!

As for King of Digital, I’m amazed at how brilliant it sounds . @AnalogMatthew has really outdone himself with this release.

I read on here a while back that they had 6 apps that were coming to iOS from desktop starting with - I think - Super VHS, so we should have 5 more in store 🤩

Not sure it's worth reposting the message. I guess there must be a good (or unfortunate, perhaps) reason why the two banks I mentioned aren't included. Definitely a shame not to have access to them, though.

    Cheers!

Of their app the one I was looking the most forward was Spaced out but I got to say Transit as cured that for me.

What I am really looking forward is for them to create more synths.
