Why everyone copy Mr Beast? Most thumbnails on YouTube are now someone making a "OOHHH" face to sell their video. I called it the Mr Beastification of YouTube. Each time I see a thumbnail like this, I block the channel. Each time I see a clickbait, I block the channel.

    Look Ma...

...I can be a Youtuber as well. 😂 Yeah I tried to watch Anderton's video and just couldn't make it past 1 minute. Cuckoo on the other hand was worth the watch. Love his calm demeanor and chill delivery.

    I'd watch your YouTube channel.

Lol! Thanks mate. :) Then again, I'd say it takes a certain type of stamina to do Youtube. I drive for Doordash instead. Much more fun than either not having many followers for making regular videos, or having a lot of followers by usage of clickbait slight-of-hand to trick the average viewer into watching your channel.

In Mr. Beast's defense however, at least he's using his wealth for good causes, so I can't judge him too harshly.

Decent price. Looks like fun. Sample rate doesn't really bother me that much. Weird choice to limit storage to 64mb. However, AAA batteries in 2023? 😂

Seems to have a similar workflow to Koala Sampler, except that Koala can do more. Automation in Koala would be nice, which the KO II clearly has if True Cuckoo's video is anything to go by.

I'll just continue to save money for an OP-1 Field. Nothing else I know of has that particular workflow.

Lack of lithium battery is probably why the price is reasonable, but follows PO MO lol

That makes sense. The more I think about it, the more I realise I'm actually on the fence about getting the KO II. I don't wish to constantly purchase aaa batteries to keep it powered on, but god it looks so much fun with its calculator aesthetic, clacky keys, and fun display. It seems almost like the hardware version of Koala minus the resampling.

I have looked into an MPC One Plus, but honestly without an internal battery or ability to use regular batteries, it's not exactly a mobile device.

This is all the more reason the OP-1 Field appeals to me. Simple on the surface but can go deep. And I just love its design, the music I've heard other people make with it, the fun various GUIs, etc. I always talk myself out of buying one, but now that I work for Doordash in addition to my piano gigs, I should be able to come up with enough for a down payment on said OP-1 Field on Amazon. About a $500 down payment. Less than 100 quid per month after that.

I actually salute them HUGELY for using AAA batteries. Unless maybe they used changeable lithium ones. But the Apple move to use unreplaceable batteries was horrible, and so many companies followed suite. Lots of people replace devices when, in the old days, they would have just replaced batteries. But - obviously don't buy disposable batteries, instead buy a battery recharger! I have a few Korg devices that run on AA or AAA batteries and I'm very happy using a recharger and never worrying about having to send a product off for a bloody battery replacement.

You can also power it by USB-C, of course.

Powered by an powerbank to the USB-C port, it that official?

Loopop’s the best. He’s normally out the door pretty quick too but no review for this yet

From Loopops recent email, he’s in Israel so the conflict is affecting his self and his video reviews and production.

(Not as much as if he was is Gaza - perhaps an unneeded comment, but civilians are being killed frequently and regularly)

well,THAT’s how you treat (hardware) GAS victims and impulse buyer like me . Announce it, release it. Looks absolutely dope and inspiring. Do i need it? No. I‘m not even really a sample(r) wizzard. I‘ve Koala but never used it. Did i order it anyway? Yes 😂

To sum it up, Teenage Engineering makes awesome hardware, the most fuckin’ expensive, some cheaper, overall, people buys their shit 😂😂

As a native Swedish guy, I’m proud of this company…

Of course it did help that it‘s very affordable. When i saw the price i was like „what“?? 👀 I do love their design language but also think stuff like OP-1 field, the mixer or the 1k € table is way over the top.

Anderton's videos are trash .. i really can't understand how this guy have so much followers and views .. i feel like he doesn't understand 80% of stuff he tries do review .. definitely always going into Cuckoo or ideally Loopop reviews of HW

Part of the “charm” of the Andertons videos are that he doesn’t really understand the gear fully. When they first started to get popular they brought that fact up every video. I guess it’s been lost over time or the mentioning it.

When they did the OP-1 Field video, the guy knew a ton, as he's been using the OG OP-1 for years. That one was pretty good. All sorts of cool tricks and ideas, as well as showing the then-new Field.

Definitely. I like their videos personally.

    I didn’t realize this. Hope he’s alright!

  • While the lack of a bitmapped screen is no doubt a huge contributor to the unexpectedly low cost (I don't know what your excuse is, OP-Z), it means that whole new features appearing in future firmware updates are probably going to be hard to add in ways that are consistent with the existing UI, because much of it is baked into the screen.

Not an unreasonable thing to say at all.

@tahiche my main man, an important question that I'm sure you can answer: does this new gadget fit into the field backpack IF the full figurine collection is already in there?

You will understand I don't want to embarrass myself stepping out with just some of the figurines; and you're the only one I know, apart from myself of course, who has all of them and the backpack to test this.

    Muchas gracias 🙏

Now seriously, maybe if you slightly sanded down the figurines using the TE Nail Polisher?

A few early adaptors reported fader FX record problems I heard.

  • Decima1 has done a video of his fader issue and also linked to a Google drive with all the factory samples if anyone wants to get busy with them:

  • That's no good, I hope it's not a widespread manufacturing issue.

Oooo, perfect for Koala. Thanks mate. :)

  • Well so far it's just one lone guy with the fader issue posting a video calling it fadergate. In another video he cautions that we shouldn't put the knob on the slider because that may be how he broke his slider, and he admits he pushed it on hard. So hopefully it's not actually a thing, we'll see pretty soon.

"Fadergate" sounds like a product feature. Some kind of gated FX connected to a fader.

"The only sampler on the market with T.E.'s exclusive patented FaderGate functionality".

I’d love to have a coffe with one of the TE guys and talk about their crazy pricing strategy. They’re obviously taking the piss when they simultaneously release a 250€ stupid toy car and a really cool sampler for about the same price.
They’re probably making a point and it’s some of sort of joke. But I don’t get it, and it strikes me as superficial and cynical. It doesn’t do the company any good.
Their next release is a replacement fader for 800€.

Field Coffee - $3 for a K-Cup pod, $10000 for the exclusive branded mug. 🤣

”Stupid” pricing strategy isn’t nothing especially with the company TE - high priced products is there everywhere, Guccibags for $7000 or music equipment for staggering prices…

Everyone wants an maxed out iPad Pro 12.9”, but Apple demands $2800 for this iPad, but average people wants to pay max $1000…

If we can’t afford Teenage Engineering products, we have to choose something else.

Not true unfortunately. There are more people in the Elektronauts forum. And two person had a dead fader right out of the box. As pretty as the limited Ali packaging is, it seems a bit on the light side, not protecting well.

You mentioned horseshit so my mind read grassy as “gassy” and I was just thinking that would have to be the worst cup of coffee ever 😂
