2 x Teenage Engineering self oscillating 24db/oct filters £29 each not including postage.
    Months of fun and more.

Haha, I love the skin! 🤩

    Glad you noticed.
I've been doing some design stuff and that was a tester for sizes.
Ended up leaving it on the filter. 😉

Everything on your desk looks unconventional, cozy, and inviting to work. I think that the handmade organic look will become more and more popular as time goes on.

It is very cozy especially in winter when I do most of my deep composing.

    Agreed. 🙂

Gotta be honest I’m laughing about the fader issues with this unit. This just proves again that TE put out garbage. My op-1 field still has issues with the battery being loose. I’m my book these idiots are the biggest crooks in the gear business

  • Cancelled my order this morning
The gas for the device has simmered, and hearing a few too many people complaining about build quality
But this is still on my list
I have spent the last 2 days watching sp-404 videos, and like what I see
Looks harder to learn, but seems like the best option, and also with as cards for moving stuff around
But costs more and quite hard to get hold of in uk, so while I save a little longer, hopefully I will make the right decision and give teenage engineering time to solve some problems and add a firmware update so you can export projects etc

Why everyone copy Mr Beast? Most thumbnails on YouTube are now someone making a "OOHHH" face to sell their video. I called it the Mr Beastification of YouTube. Each time I see a thumbnail like this, I block the channel. Each time I see a clickbait, I block the channel.

    Look Ma...

...I can be a Youtuber as well. 😂 Yeah I tried to watch Anderton's video and just couldn't make it past 1 minute. Cuckoo on the other hand was worth the watch. Love his calm demeanor and chill delivery.

    I'd watch your YouTube channel.

Lol! Thanks mate. :) Then again, I'd say it takes a certain type of stamina to do Youtube. I drive for Doordash instead. Much more fun than either not having many followers for making regular videos, or having a lot of followers by usage of clickbait slight-of-hand to trick the average viewer into watching your channel.

In Mr. Beast's defense however, at least he's using his wealth for good causes, so I can't judge him too harshly.

Decent price. Looks like fun. Sample rate doesn't really bother me that much. Weird choice to limit storage to 64mb. However, AAA batteries in 2023? 😂

Seems to have a similar workflow to Koala Sampler, except that Koala can do more. Automation in Koala would be nice, which the KO II clearly has if True Cuckoo's video is anything to go by.

I'll just continue to save money for an OP-1 Field. Nothing else I know of has that particular workflow.

Lack of lithium battery is probably why the price is reasonable, but follows PO MO lol

That makes sense. The more I think about it, the more I realise I'm actually on the fence about getting the KO II. I don't wish to constantly purchase aaa batteries to keep it powered on, but god it looks so much fun with its calculator aesthetic, clacky keys, and fun display. It seems almost like the hardware version of Koala minus the resampling.

I have looked into an MPC One Plus, but honestly without an internal battery or ability to use regular batteries, it's not exactly a mobile device.

This is all the more reason the OP-1 Field appeals to me. Simple on the surface but can go deep. And I just love its design, the music I've heard other people make with it, the fun various GUIs, etc. I always talk myself out of buying one, but now that I work for Doordash in addition to my piano gigs, I should be able to come up with enough for a down payment on said OP-1 Field on Amazon. About a $500 down payment. Less than 100 quid per month after that.

ZZounds used to require a $700US down payment on the OP-1 Field. Now they have an even easier EZ-Pay plan which is just $165 down then $165 per month for 12 months.

  • People often criticize TE because of their prices. Some of their stuff is crazy priced, true. But some of their stuff is not only "fairly" priced, but honestly, no one else does what they do. You pay a premium for it but their flagship model is widely received as maybe the best of its kind. You own it so I'm sure you know better than me that nothing really compares to the op1 field. I think some of their, or a lot of their base, tends to be more affluent. But there are some of us not as well to do who are eagerly saving and waiting for their respective TE gear. I can't wait for mine. Yes, I am hesitating on purchasing it due to the stories of many people having issues, but also TE seems to fix their customers issues. Maybe I am one of the aforementioned trying to convince himself its worth it, but honestly, for the people who have only had minor issues, they hold their TE gear higher than almost all the other stuff. So to call it garbage is a bit of an overstatement when they are pioneers/leaders in their field. I wish I had an OP1 field man! If the battery is all that's problematic, ask TE to fix it ? have you had other issues with the field that you might want others to know about? I ask because I found all about the opz issues, but as an owner, I am curious to know your experience with the unit? any double triggers or issues with keys colors inspace?

  • I don’t have a problem with their price. I have a problem with them putting stuff out half assed and putting out garbage. Ie: warping op-z, battery loose in many of the op-1 fields, now this problem with the fader. This is not normal.
The overpriced tables and toys is just another reason why most people find them a joke and can’t be taken seriously.

I was able to justify keeping my op-1 field cause I purchased the OP-Z for the second time to give it a chance and it never showed up to Mexico because of customs. TE sent me my money back baca d said to just send the unit back if it showed up. Well, it showed up but I kept it because I had an issue with my batter moving around in the Op-1 field. I ended up selling it for 400 bucks and just kept the cash. And yes I feel very good about at least stealing $400 from this company that rip people off left and right

  • If I had to sell all my gear except for one piece it would surely be the Op-1 field… although I do have a unit with something rattling around inside. I think a loose battery. I’m just too lazy to send it in for repair.😛> @colorsinspace said:

You’re a strange guy - all of a sudden Teenage Engineering is “biggest crooks in the gear business” - not long ago you wrote here on the forum, citation:

“If I had to sell all my gear except for one piece it would surely be the Op-1 field… although I do have a unit with something rattling around inside. I think a loose battery. I’m just too lazy to send it in for repair.😛”

You seems to have too little perspective on the music gear business, sad…

No one enjoys getting a product that needs returning. According to a few early adopters posting on the OP forums, if you had sent in your OP-1f with the battery issue, TE would have sent you a brand new OP-1f. It's disingenuous to say you "still" have issues with a loose battery since TE offered a simple solution but you didn't take the opportunity.

A lot of people, me included, think the OP-1f is without a doubt worth the money. I have other synths but this would be the one I'd grab to run from a fire. (This statement has been tested, I live in CA).

I’ve done the Zzounds easy pay before and it’s great. When I was out of work with Covid a couple years ago they let me pay almost a month late to help me out. I’ll always remember that, good company, good customer service.

Say it ain't so, lol. Guess we won't be OP-1 Field twins then. 😂 Sad. (I'm kidding with you obviously.)

My plan for the OP-1 Field is to create Ambient in it, at least for starters. Ambient is pretty much the easiest genre for me to produce in any workflow. I want to create some sort of 4-6 track EP with the stock OP-1 Field samples and whatever sounds I can concoct with the various synth engines. Having no clear musical direction when producing Ambient in a new environment/workflow is invigorating. This is how I learned to use Koala Sampler in the first place afterall.

Anyways, I have the zzounds OP-1 Field link bookmarked, and next Sunday I'll buy it.

I love the op-1 field but that’s not the issue here. The issue is their quality control is shit. If you don’t know this then you know nothing about Teenage Engineering. Everything they put out has issues and it’s not my responsibility to have to send back something. I just paid $2000 for. Of course they offered this to me but it would’ve taken 10 days for it to reach them and then another months to get back to me so why should I be without my Piza gear for 40 days that I just paid $2000 for? What I told them they should do is send me a new one, and when the other one gets to me, I will send the other one back.
For ambient music the OP one field can’t be beat. Again their quality control team need to be fired.

I wish they had better QC. I haven't had issues but I've read people online complaining, mostly about the OP-Z.

  • @cyberheater
I think I need some physical hardware, the ep-133 was just about affordable, then watching videos on sp-404, means in my opinion is worth the extra money
The ep-133 looks nice, the sp-404 mk2 looks ok, and most owners of the sp seem happy, and I have a few options of spreading the cost over 3 months
I am not sure why I haven’t pulled the trigger, but due to this hardware lust I haven’t brought any iOS apps this month, which is hard to believe

  • Dang with all these quality control issues, it sounds like they should really … grow up….who else is ready for … ‘Grown Up Engineering’? Am I right? Ehhh? Ehhhhhhhh?!!!

    Okay I’ll see myself out

I am tempted by the Zzounds deal as well but can’t really add anymore debt at the moment. Part of me is leaning towards the IK Uno Synth Pro (the new one) as well. All that is way down the road the course.

That said, my main plan is to buy the remaining Volcas I don’t have so I have a table full of all 9 Volcas. All matter of synthesis types synced perfectly in time with parameter locking of the sequences. I used to have them all before I sold a couple and it was one of the most fun jam set ups I’ve ever had.

As far as the OP-1, I would love one some day but I’m just not in a huge rush. I’m ordering my midi controller tomorrow and before the years over will probably buy that Donner drum pad and a fader box. That along with the midi keyboard will give me all I need to do anything I want.

What midi controller did you order btw?

Haven’t ordered yet, waiting til I get paid tomorrow. But I’m deciding between the Arturia Minilab3 and the M Audio Oxygen Pro Mini.

They’re both small enough but still offer a lot of modern features. Unfortunately it looks like the MiniLab may not let you adjust velocity on the device itself and since I’m iOS only and can’t hook it up to a desktop, I’d be kinda screwed. I gotta read the manual tonight and confirm but if that’s the case, M Audio it is lol.

Also am probably gonna order the Donner midi pads and a faderbox since it’s on sale for cyber Monday on Amazon. Combining those 2 with Koala and AUM would be chefs kiss

Dang with all these quality control issues, it sounds like they should really … grow up….who else is ready for … ‘Grown Up Engineering’? Am I right? Ehhh? Ehhhhhhhh?!!!

😂 Sorry mate, but your "eh eh" reminded me of this scene from "Hercules".
