Lack of lithium battery is probably why the price is reasonable, but follows PO MO lol
I wonder if I could resample the K.O. ll by going from the output back to the input? Overall the workflow seems straightforward and fun. I'll read the manual when I get a chance.
The Anderton's video mentions some interesting bits the Cuckoo video didn't, it's worth the watch.
Lol! Thanks mate. Then again, I'd say it takes a certain type of stamina to do Youtube. I drive for Doordash instead. Much more fun than either not having many followers for making regular videos, or having a lot of followers by usage of clickbait slight-of-hand to trick the average viewer into watching your channel.
In Mr. Beast's defense however, at least he's using his wealth for good causes, so I can't judge him too harshly.
That makes sense. The more I think about it, the more I realise I'm actually on the fence about getting the KO II. I don't wish to constantly purchase aaa batteries to keep it powered on, but god it looks so much fun with its calculator aesthetic, clacky keys, and fun display. It seems almost like the hardware version of Koala minus the resampling.
I have looked into an MPC One Plus, but honestly without an internal battery or ability to use regular batteries, it's not exactly a mobile device.
This is all the more reason the OP-1 Field appeals to me. Simple on the surface but can go deep. And I just love its design, the music I've heard other people make with it, the fun various GUIs, etc. I always talk myself out of buying one, but now that I work for Doordash in addition to my piano gigs, I should be able to come up with enough for a down payment on said OP-1 Field on Amazon. About a $500 down payment. Less than 100 quid per month after that.
I’m definitely interested. Gonna keep an eye out for demos and reviews and see how people get along with it first but I think it’s great for the price. No resampling is a weird omission for a sampler though.
If it’s got audio/midi over usb I’ll be a lot more tempted.
Then again between Koala, Dawnbeat, Drambo, Samplr, BM3, etc it’s kinda hard for me to justify spending money on a new sampler. And it would be taking money from the OP-1 Field fund. Hmmmm.
I actually salute them HUGELY for using AAA batteries. Unless maybe they used replaceable lithium ones. But the Apple move to use non-replaceable batteries was horrible, and so many companies followed suit. Lots of people replace devices when, in the old days, they would have just replaced batteries. But - obviously don't buy disposable batteries, instead buy a battery recharger! I have a few Korg devices that run on AA or AAA batteries and I'm very happy using a recharger and never worrying about having to send a product off for a bloody battery replacement.
Bro, mate, that's brilliant! Oh damn, with a battery recharger I'd have tons of fun with a KO II! 😃
Then again, the OP-1 Field beckons me. I plan to put the down payment on one as a Christmas gift to myself. 😃
Hope you enjoy it my friend I decided to pay for mine all at once so I don’t have even more debt lol so you’ll have yours before me that’s for sure.
I do the same for my Volcas/Pocket Operators. It can be a PITA if you forget to charge them but it’s so much better for the environment and wallet lol
Exactly man. 😏 I get mine first, haha!
I think you’ll really like. It truly is a genius piece of hardware. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous, but at least I have something to look forward to now 😆 I’m hoping by February I can get mine. Maybe March.
Op-1 field looks like something I’d want….
But then that price is so damn high, I just can’t pull the trigger.
Gotta save up for the UDO Super Gemini. Probably going to have to build a much bigger desk to put it on as it is a monstrosity of power.
You can also power it by USB-C, of course.
Oops, post edited. Follow suit, not suite 😂
No, it’s just really weird how the majority of the posters felt compelled to dunk on TE without any knowledge of the product being released. I mean, someone who goes out of their way to identify themselves as a loyal fan of any commercial brand — Tesla, Apple, TE — is a little sad, right?
But what do you call the person who makes great effort to shit on a company’s product that isn’t even out yet?
It looks very nice.
I do not understand why TE chose 12 pads?
Anderton's videos are trash .. i really can't understand how this guy have so much followers and views .. i feel like he doesn't understand 80% of stuff he tries do review .. definitely always going into Cuckoo or ideally Loopop reviews of HW
Part of the “charm” of the Andertons videos are that he doesn’t really understand the gear fully. When they first started to get popular they brought that fact up every video. I guess it’s been lost over time or the mentioning it.
When they did the OP-1 Field video, the guy knew a ton, as he's been using the OG OP-1 for years. That one was pretty good. All sorts of cool tricks and ideas, as well as showing the then-new Field.
tbh True Cuckoo annoys me a bit, I feel all his videos are paid promotion
I think he's relatable to folks who don't understand tech which is why he's so popular.
I always go with loopop. It's like an online video manual. Very useful.
+2.
Cuckoo only tends to make videos about gear he really likes, and he has good relationships with those companies as a consequence. He's just a genuinely very enthusiastic guy!
Loopop is the man!
Loopop’s the best. He’s normally out the door pretty quick too but no review for this yet
USB for backups?
Do you know the details?
All I've found is a weird WebMIDI based sample transfer utility, no mentions of pattern/song data.
(and Apple have skipped implementing it in Safari for a reason:

No web midi for safari desktop or iOS sadly.
Powered by an powerbank to the USB-C port, it that official?
@ErrkaPetti
Good question
I hope so
I am still working out once I have got some projects made, can the whole project be exported and then be imported again at a later stage,
am I going to need an audio interface to to get the noise I make into iPad or pc ableton
I admit I am slightly seduced by the overall design, rainbow iconography, and pressure-sensitive pads of this new KO II - not to mention the sense of 'prestige' that would finally be conferred onto my poor wretched existence if I were to own a real authentic TE device (I wonder - do TE units arrive with a holographic authenticity tags attached, a la TY Beanie Babies? )
But otherwise, I still feel like my Roland MC-101 ticks almost every one of the KO II's most important features when it comes to my personal hardware sample/groovebox needs (plus a lot more!).
Your mileage may vary.
