I remember being impacted by these a while back.
Hope I feel the editor improvements too.
Thank you for the update! Have a great Christmas 🎄
Excellent update, thank you! As an ex-DX7 owner and a long-time user of the well-worn presets, I’m delighted with this addition. At first play, it sounds very good, and has a well designed and appropriate interface.
@LFS Nice update!
I've not yet gotten the IAPs (I might, not sure yet, bribe me haha) but as I mainly prefer a sample-based work-flow it'll be 3-stars until a dedicated drum-sampler and sampler-track pops-up...
Wish You and the Team a Merry Christmas and maybe 'Santa' will bring more motivation to finally implement the plethora of users requested features that have piled up during the years, you know things like tempo-track, improved samplers, mono export and some refinements to the piano-roll so it doesn't do 'rogue scrolling' when moving note events up/down, left/right.
Cheers!
&Samu: Same here .. These sounds are phenomenal IMO .. So usable but why after all these years , the unresolved requests? Lars has stated that for mixing time signatures the entire program would have to be rewritten. So I’m thinking perhaps Cubasis 4.
Halion has got the “sound” though. That’s for sure .
If the focus is on instruments for this update, then the biggest hole that needed to be filled was drum app along the lines of Groove Agent. I am sure the new sounds are all wonderful but without a decent drum machine, my uses will be limited. The lack of this type of app on iOS was finally addressed by LP4i with Drummer - Cubasis desperately needs a similar solution.
Cubasis 3.6 Update - stunning new IAPs available, a free new instrument but where are those feature requests? New instruments demonstrated, thoughts shared.
Woof. Tough crowd. 😬
Coming from Cubasis 3.5.1 is this a paid upgrade? The AppStore only offers me a purchase option for €37.49
That sounds steep for an upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6.
Maybe I’m missing something
Yeah, but imagine what it could have been if the focus was on creating the full HALion as Stand-Alone/AUv3? (starting at $49.99 and further IAPs for unlocking FM Lab etc.).
But I get it, they need to cater for the pretty vocal Android crowd since there's no plug-in infrastructure in place.
I suspect we'll have to wait for Cubasis 4 as well before tempo-tracks and improved samplers make it, so 2-3 years to go...
It’s a free update.
Maybe you have Cubasis LE and are looking at the wrong app?
Did you check your available updates?
Or your purchased apps?
Hi @Spinoza
The update is free for existing customers (except for the new instruments IAPs).
Please make sure you are logged onto the same App Store account you've made your Cubasis purchase!
Hope that helps!
Best,
Lars
...
When I went to the store the only option I had was to download it.
The last 7 minutes of your video are interesting - the future (or not) of Cubasis.
Hi all,
Please note that Dorico for iPad 5.1 has been released too, please check @dspreadbury 's announcement right here:
Dorico for iPad 5.1 with new Iconica Sketch orchestral sound library now available
Thanks,
Lars
Congratulation to the Steinberg team and @LFS Lars on the solid update. You clearly are not giving up on the project, and it gives us hope that the hot-topic requests will finally see the light of day. 🤩
Now I need to find a good soul to test SWAM and GeoShred on the newly updated Cubasis, so I can hit that “update” button too.
Great points , Samu
Definitely
@LFS can you say exactly what the storage requirements are for these IAPs? My storage is limited until I upgrade iPads but I’m anxious to try them out.
When Jamie is disappointed with the update, this is certainly not a good sign for Cubasis. 😅
With those few features Samu is asking for, plus delay compensation, Cubasis will still be a light portable, almost a demo version of Cubase.
Hi @HotStrange
Here are the download sizes for the instruments:
HALion Sonic Selection - 1.8 GB
FM Classics - 25 MB
Neo FM - 25 MB
LoFi Piano - 43 MB
The In-App Shop offers flexible options to download the content.
Hope that helps!
Best,
Lars
Wow surprisingly less storage than I anticipated. Thank you
@LFS I watched this video from Dom featuring the new HALion based synth for Cubasis...
I can see that the VX tagged presets support articulations that are 'keyboard switchable' so how does one apply a specific articulation to a selection of notes in the piano-roll?!
Using the articulation switches on the keyboard affects all notes after the articulation is set...
(In LogicPro for iPad this is super simple make a selection and pick an articulation when/if the currently used instrument supports articulations).
I'm really trying to stay positive towards Cubasis 3 but it's still got a long way to go...
Cheers!
Good point @Samu.. THIS!! A standalone/AUv3…HURRY UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!! I’d absolutely pay premium pricing for this, no questions asked
I get why they didn’t I suppose but after watching Doug’s demo I would absolutely pay $49.99 to have this as an AUv3. Wow it sounds really really good.
