Halion has got the “sound” though. That’s for sure .

Yeah, but imagine what it could have been if the focus was on creating the full HALion as Stand-Alone/AUv3? (starting at $49.99 and further IAPs for unlocking FM Lab etc.).

Good point @Samu.. THIS!! A standalone/AUv3…HURRY UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!! I’d absolutely pay premium pricing for this, no questions asked

I get why they didn’t I suppose but after watching Doug’s demo I would absolutely pay $49.99 to have this as an AUv3. Wow it sounds really really good.

Yes, indeed it does @HotStrange . I would have loved this as an AUv3. The sounds are definitely there!!

Wow. Amazing. Thank you for the early Christmas Gift!

Thanks to the great Cubasis team. Enjoy your Christmas break and New Year👊🏼🎚️

    Thanks @echoopera,

Glad you enjoy the update! Enjoy the Christmas break too and best wishes for a happy and healthy new year!!

    Best,

  • Yeah these sounds are genuinely amazing. And I kinda figured we’d be waiting in Cubasis 4 for those “big features”.

But as much as I love Cubasis, it really needs at least a tempo track and mix busses in order to be my one and only DAW. I can do without more in depth samplers and such (nothing against those that want that) because I have plenty of AUs for that, but those other features are really needed to properly compete with Logic. These are the top 2 DAWs on iOS and I’d to see C3 fall too far behind.

@LFS can you say exactly what the storage requirements are for these IAPs? My storage is limited until I upgrade iPads but I’m anxious to try them out.

    Hi @HotStrange

Here are the download sizes for the instruments:

HALion Sonic Selection - 1.8 GB
    FM Classics - 25 MB
    Neo FM - 25 MB
    LoFi Piano - 43 MB

The In-App Shop offers flexible options to download the content.

    Hope that helps!

    Best,
    Lars

Wow surprisingly less storage than I anticipated. Thank you :)

I just searched for the same information. 😅 Neo FM tickles my imaginations, and I really want to test that thing in full modulation. It reminds me of Tera Pro FM7 meta controls.

    Thanks in particular for:
CBT-3560 Audio event fade-ins to less than 100% gain no longer crackle during the fading phase.
CBT-3490 Creating stems of projects containing a group track now works as expected.

I remember being impacted by these a while back.
Hope I feel the editor improvements too.

    Appreciated, thanks @belldu!

    Best,
    Lars

All 3 of them are kinda calling my name I can’t lie lol. The HALion engine sounds absolutely fantastic. Really wish they would’ve added some much needed features because it has me contemplating whether to buy them and keep using Cubasis or switch over to have tempo tracks and mix busses.

If the focus is on instruments for this update, then the biggest hole that needed to be filled was drum app along the lines of Groove Agent. I am sure the new sounds are all wonderful but without a decent drum machine, my uses will be limited. The lack of this type of app on iOS was finally addressed by LP4i with Drummer - Cubasis desperately needs a similar solution.

    Hi @BillS

    Thanks!
The new instruments come with loads of drum kits instruments...

  • For what it’s worth, the Instruments are spectacular!! Although I’m not a hardcore Cubasis 3 user, I am fully loaded with the exception of what released today. And you guys know, I’m hardcore iOS so adding these expansions are a NO-BRAINER! No AUv3, I understand and it’s not like me not to support. In life, you take the good with the unfortunate. Purchase incoming! Thanks @LFS
Happy holidays to you and your team!!

@BillS : in place of Groove Agent I think Imaginado’s BAM might do the trick nicely , eh?

  • Is groove agent like Apple’s Drummer in that it composes a drum track to follow another track?

  • @purpan2 said:
Excellent update, thank you! As an ex-DX7 owner and a long-time user of the well-worn presets, I’m delighted with this addition. At first play, it sounds very good, and has a well designed and appropriate interface.

  • You know, the biggest hole on iOS is a proper solution for acoustic drums. I always do acoustic drum programming on desktop because iOS simply doesn’t have anything good enough. I have a lot of drum software on desktop but I always end up coming back to groove agent. It is, an absolute beast! It will feature in my next video, which I interrupted making to do the Cubasis update one. If Cubasis 3 had Groove Agent…… ooooof!

  • Hi all,

For those of you using the Cubasis Project Importer, please note that the Cubasis Project Importer 3.6 Pre-Release is now available at https://o.steinberg.net/en/support/content_and_accessories/content_and_accessories_cubasis.html.

The update assures that Cubasis tracks which are assigned to the new instruments, will be assigned to he appropriate derivates in Cubase (when available). In addition, the new version resolves a problem, where the assignment of MicroSonic tracks to HALion Sonic failed.

    Best,
    Lars

Yeah, even though most of my ideas get ignored I guess they still have some validity to them :sunglasses:

I do wonder if the next 3.6.1/3.7 update will allow me to set the piano-rolls background color to dark to avoid getting 'blinded' in dim light?

We can set the arranger back-ground to dark and even the new on-screen keyboard in 3.6 can be set to 'dark' so why leave out the piano-roll?!

There's a few nice fixes usability features that @LFS and his team managed squeeze in!

CBT-490 Views snap to their default height when resizing.
(Really help me with AUv3 beta-testing at their 'default view size').

CBT-3522 Tapping and holding on an empty area in the MIDI editor now shows the selection rectangle, even if a tool is enabled.
(There's still some 'rogue scrolling issues' if the piano-roll view is not locked when making a selection especially when the selection marquee reaches the edges of the Piano-Roll view the view scrolls very fast and it's not possible to 'scroll back' to where the selection was started from).

CBT-3556 Elastique lib has been updated to version 3.4.2.
CBT-3560 Audio event fade-ins to less than 100% gain no longer crackle during the fading phase.

    Cheers!
