  • @LFS I'll download the two new FM packs (will buy them later today), but the HALion pack blows my mind! I'm wondering if more HALion libraries will be released as IAPs in the future. And that Lofi Piano is perfect for me to create Lofi with.

Normally I reserve using Cubasis simply for recording vocals, but I think I'm ready to dive into Cubasis 3 to see how long it takes me to complete a track.

Coming from Cubasis 3.5.1 is this a paid upgrade? The AppStore only offers me a purchase option for €37.49
That sounds steep for an upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6.
    Maybe I’m missing something

    SOLVED
For anyone who came to C3 from C3 LE and then upgraded to the full version this is the situation: the App Store will still think you have the LE version and will not let you update to the full v3.6 but…
all you must do is update your supposedly LE version (which you may do) and what you’ll get in fact is the full v3.6
Thanks to our Lars “angel” for helping me once again
I hope this may help others in the same situation

    Hi all,

For those of you using the Cubasis Project Importer, please note that the Cubasis Project Importer 3.6 Pre-Release is now available at https://o.steinberg.net/en/support/content_and_accessories/content_and_accessories_cubasis.html.

The update assures that Cubasis tracks which are assigned to the new instruments, will be assigned to he appropriate derivates in Cubase (when available). In addition, the new version resolves a problem, where the assignment of MicroSonic tracks to HALion Sonic failed.

    Best,
    Lars

Oh that’s cool. I was hoping for this

  • Great post 💪🏽

I really hope so. These sounds are very, very good. I have Halion on desktop and would love to have more of those sounds available in Cubasis.

  • Nice..Are there Bass patches?

Please enjoy using the new instruments, which hopefully inspire you to come up with great new tracks :)

    Hi @RajahP,

Sure... HALion Sonic Selection comes with various "Bass" and "Synth Bass" instrument presets.
Neo FM and FM Classics include various FM-type basses as well...

  • @LFS! So great to be talking about you once again. You frequently come to mind but I’ve been remiss in reaching out to you to see how you are. I hope everything is great for you and your family these days.

I’m happy to report Cubasis works near flawlessly after 844 tracks and 71 albums, all created with Cubasis. (lol, we can always blame the plugins for the glitches, can’t we!). I never lose a project, it answers all my needs and ikm always happy to see the familiar gui. I’ve taken to mirroring CB to a big screen at times because of vision problems. Works perfectly.

I actually have a feature request… with hundreds of tracks I spend a lot of time scrolling to find a particular project or mix down. Is it possible to even add a search feature to ease the pain?

That aside, you couldn’t have a happier user. Wouldn’t ever think of using anything else. Many thanks to you and the team.

    Hi @LinearLineman

We did not hear from each other for quite some time!
Hope you and yours are well too!!

844 tracks and 71 albums with Cubasis? This sounds like the clear record... impressive numbers!
I'm very glad to read that the app works perfectly in creating these loads of music!!

I'm afraid it will not be easy to add a searching feature (which has been requested by other users too, in regards to installed AUs and more), but I will share it with the team!!

Again, we're glad about your feedback and proud you've chosen Cubasis to create your music!

    Stay safe
    & warm greetings,
    Lars

If the focus is on instruments for this update, then the biggest hole that needed to be filled was drum app along the lines of Groove Agent. I am sure the new sounds are all wonderful but without a decent drum machine, my uses will be limited. The lack of this type of app on iOS was finally addressed by LP4i with Drummer - Cubasis desperately needs a similar solution.

    Hi @BillS

    Thanks!
The new instruments come with loads of drum kits instruments...

Yes, and they sound great thanks

Did you check how SWAM instruments work in 3.6? It's about update or not to update for me. I need someone brave enough who has already updated, haha! ;)

    @Birdpie

Suggest to check with the app vendor.

Cubasis 3.6 runs pretty stable in our view, but we haven’t checked it with SWAM ourselves…

Yeah, even though most of my ideas get ignored I guess they still have some validity to them :sunglasses:

I do wonder if the next 3.6.1/3.7 update will allow me to set the piano-rolls background color to dark to avoid getting 'blinded' in dim light?

We can set the arranger back-ground to dark and even the new on-screen keyboard in 3.6 can be set to 'dark' so why leave out the piano-roll?!

    @Samu
I asked more or less the same thing in another post yesterday. I’ve also asked quite a while back before 3.5 and was told the request was “forwarded to the team”.

@LFS I see we get a dark keys keyboard option now, but I wonder if we get dark piano roll and audio editor to match the dark background option under Setup > UI.

Opening the midi and audio editors with a bright background after working in the dark with an otherwise dark UI is a bit jarring especially to more sensitive eyes.”

You know, the biggest hole on iOS is a proper solution for acoustic drums. I always do acoustic drum programming on desktop because iOS simply doesn’t have anything good enough. I have a lot of drum software on desktop but I always end up coming back to groove agent. It is, an absolute beast! It will feature in my next video, which I interrupted making to do the Cubasis update one. If Cubasis 3 had Groove Agent…… ooooof!

    What he said…..

  • I think I'll just forget Cubasis for now considering even adding a search function has proven to be an impossible task for the 'highly efficient team' like seriously?!

  • @JMcM said:
@LFS thanks for the nice update! Considering switching to Cubasis 3 as my main DAW (I use a competitor’s app on iOS). The new sounds on Halion and the two FM add-ons sound amazing on the demos!

Also, just want to say I hope we can refrain from insulting, bullying and aggressive behavior as @Michael has asked us to do :)

    Hi @JMcM

WOW - glad to read this!!
Thanks for the nice comment on the new instruments too! - greatly appreciated!

    Stay well,
    Lars

  • New Lo-fi piano is cool and the reverb algos and randomize button go crazy. The Halion purchase is tempting but how many drum kits are included?

Also, incidentally these instrument releases led me to return to building sampled instruments out of one shot samples which Cubasis does really well.

    Hi all,

Thanks for all your comments on the release so far - be it positive or negative!!

I've mentioned this several times: Cubasis is made by a fairly small team, and we have to make clear choices where to focus on.

We were and are confident that choosing to focus on instruments was the right good decision, and are more than happy about the outcome. Nevertheless it remains clear, that we're unable to meet the expectations of all our customers, and understand the frustration of those of you who waited on other features to be added.

While writing this we already work on the next update, and will re-discuss all your requests after a short seasonal break.

    Enjoy being creative,
    Lars

  • Anyone having trouble downloading the HALion sonic selection pack? I’m getting an error message saying ‘your iPad is full’ which it’s not and ‘are you connected to the internet’ which I am. I’ve also posted on the Cubasis forum.

    Hi @Mmmwahaha

Please give the following steps a try:

    • Log off from the App Store
    • Shut down all running apps
    • Fully shut down the iPad/iPhone
    • Reboot your rooter

Are you able to download HSS once relaunching the router, Cubasis etc.?

    Thanks
    Lars

  • Many thanks Lars, the router restart fixed it. Looking forward to hearing the sounds!

Congratulations on the update! It is insane to hear a complex software like Cubasis is developed by only a small team. 🤯 (I would have guessed it is developed by a team with at least 50+ people)

    Hi @Mmmwahaha

Thanks for your reply. Glad to read you‘ve been able to install HSS! Hope you will enjoy your new instrument!

    Best wishes
