No double-pressing to reset unfortunately. But most gadgets (and others settings) support a ‘flick’ gesture for small increments.

I have never been able to do that flick thing, despite years of trying. Weirdest UI choice since rotary-only knobs. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Yeah.. while flicking just pretend your iPad screen is burning hot (not difficult with Gadget running)

  • FYI ...

I don't think anyone else has mentioned this, but... Whilst Gadget 2-to-3 upgrade appears to be FREE on iOS (except for the two new Gadgets), it is a $99 paid upgrade on desktop.

Over all Gadget 3.0 is a nice update but sampling and internal resampling is still quite a chore with export and import...
...Imagine if the 'sampler gadgets' had an option to directly sample any available input or track on the fly?

    Again @Samu with a great point .

The good thing is that when doing an export all files go to the Gadget folder (and from there they are directly accessible by the 'sampler gadgets') and an app such as WaveBox can open in place so it's quite easy to mangle the sounds and save them back to the Gadget folder.

I kinda understand the KORG approach here as they would have to bake in a somewhat fully featured audio-editor as well.

I've not yet looked too deeply into how files are accessible from the AUV3 Gadgets but from within Gadget it's easy enough to access user samples. Once the samples are in the 'Gadget' folder they can easily be browsed in Gadgets Gadgets...

The biggest 'brain puzzle' for me is, why did they not also update the existing audio-recording gadgets to include time-stretch so the recordings would adapt if the tempo is changed?!

Overall I'm still happy with the Gadget 3.0 update and look forward to the day when iM1, iWaveStation, iMS-20, iMonoPoly, iPolySix and Odyssei get the AUv3 treatment. Icing on the cake would be if the classic iElectribe got an AUv3/Gadget treatment.

I've stopped wishing for iTriton, iProphecy and the others in the 'Korg Collection', OpSix, WaveState will likely never pop up for the iPad but we can never be sure...

    Cheers!

Yes, but you do get all the Gadget IAPs (and separate synths like iWavestation, iM1, etc.), as well as all Module Pro IAPs it seems, thrown in... which lessens the blow a bit...

Thanks for the reply @R_2 ... Such a dumbfounding omission by Korg to provide no way of resetting or typing numerical values for the parameter dials :/

On a similar note.. there still seems to be no way of applying quantise to a group of recorded notes either :s

Yes, but all of that was included in Gadget 2 for desktop. You only get 2 more gadgets.

Yes… I guess I don’t mind paying a little, after many years getting all the new releases of Module Pro IAPs for free… as well as the new IAPs and functionality…
    Seems pretty fair to me…

  • Hopefully we’ll see a bunch of bug-fix updates soon…

For example the Phoenix gadget when used as an AUv3 the oscillator waveform selection is not working as expected, it uses the saw waveform no matter which waveform I select when starting from the Init preset…

  • Loving the Sydney Gadget… next best thing to Gadget being an AUV3 host for me…
I can load AUV3 synths in AUM, midi sync to a Gadget project, and when happy with loops save as audio and import them into Sydney instances in the project… works for me 👍

  • This might be user error, but the update seemed to remove my transport controls. Like, the only thing remaining in the bottom toolbar were the Function and Record buttons! I backed up my songs and reinstalled from scratch, which brought them back.

Desktop is where the money is

I experienced that too. At some point I hit some button and the transport appeared normally, but I can't tell you what I did

It only just dawned on me: Santa Ana… Santana 🎸😎
(yeah I get kinda slow during the hibernation period)

He’s one of my favorite musicians in any style, but not exactly known for his chordal accompaniment.

Ahh. That explains some things. I can't remember when I used Phoenix last, but it sure didn't seem like I could get any variety of sound out of it. I just moved on to the next toy under the tree. 😂

Maybe you had set the setting "MIDI Sync" to "External". This removes the Play and Stop buttons and replaces them with the text "External Sync"

Must’ve been tripped while handling it — never had occasion to sync with my external gear. Thank you!

  • Well done, Korg! 👏

Love having Rozeta and Octachron sequence these drum machines in AUM.

Yeah, I was just playing with Rozeta Bassline driving Chicago. Good stuff!

The news that the ARP Odyssey might finally be usable as an AUv3 has even woken tk32 from his slumber!

It is some very very great, and surprising news that literally maybe me yell “holy shish, no way” out loud late at night. lol. Heck on top of what they’ve done, the update was free. Korg has outdone themselves this time. Plus the mention of the others going AU. Cheers all round!

  • IDK if this was already possible through some roundabout way, but now that I can get Gadgets into my Loopy Pro setup.. this is insane. I love a heap of the synths and drums in here. Gladstone specifically sounds absolutely fantastic through my PA, it sounds organic and 'real' enough to gig with. And now I can freely use it for looping with in a live/pub environment.

Complete game changer for me. This combined with finally getting LP and my Pacer to work properly might as well be some late Xmas present. My whole live music world just got expanded massively.

  • I’m glad they finally added velocity sensitivity to the on screen play surface, but disappointed you can’t change chord types. Also very disappointed the erase button didn’t make a return. However the new sound browser is very very welcome, new fx interface is great. Probably won’t use Auv3 but good job for that. A no brainer function to add would be loading genre patterns as needed into an existing project. The whole interface looks and feels better. Is Santa Anna worth it ?

As a guitar player I find Santa Anna sounds extremely fake. Let your ears be the judge.

I do wonder if some random midi note velocity would improve the fakeness.

Is it just bog standard guitar tones or can you get weird with it? Like super heavy and sludgy and grungy? Also somebody said it’s a loop player? Is this true? I want to record my own notes

Hopefully, they will roll out AUv3 of the standalones like OdysseI and MonoPoly and ims-20. Fingers-crossed.

Yes, those are the ones that I would like to see, especially the iMS-20.

I haven’t had Gadget installed for a long time. Not sure if I would use the included gadgets much, so might not update. Maybe I’ll watch Doug’s video and decide.

I’m waiting for Doug’s video on it to buy.. just can’t understand how it works.. Key/Scale, Etc.

    This video… well..

Good job Korg. Please add icons for the AUv3's, it’s so much easier when you can navigate those long AUv3 lists with a visual input (and in this case remember name=which gadget)

At least in EG Nodes you can save them and name them as Nodes.

Great idea, thank you! Gonna do the same in Drambo now (and give them little bastards better names 😁)

It's all up to the included loops I would say. They're a little to short to include enough variations in articulation for my taste.
I'm using Stockholm with really good REX guitar loops that I cherry-picked by my own taste, sometimes I'd even fire up good ol' ReCycle and slice my own.

The two Riffler apps sound better than that demo.

  • Yeah Santa Ana doesn't sound great from the few demos I've heard. I try to finesse Madrid in the higher tones, export, and use one of the amp gadgets for a guitar tone. Recently been using the Halion guitar with articulations in Cubasis though.
