I normally keep the rotation lock on (I rarely use the phone in landscape) and the standard camera app usefully ignores it. XP4N half ignores it…

Thanks for mentioning this one, should be a fairly straightforward fix!

    Oh, that’s fantastic!

Unfortunately it turns out this is not as straightforward as I'd hoped. When the device is rotation-locked, it doesn't tell the app when the phone is rotated. Hence, the camera could be upside down but the app doesn't know about it.

I don't know how Apple do it (they have access to more low level stuff than we 3rd party devs do) but I tried some other camera apps and their camera feed also goes upside down when rotation lock is enabled (logical: the camera is physically upside down)

Never mind, sounds about right for Apple! Thanks for looking into it, anyway.

Leeds Castle in Maidstone, Kent, balanced mode. I love the blooming around the highlights, it really gives the images a filmic look:

Photo session at the Cliffs of Dover and medieval castle! Where do I need to sign?! 🤩

The cliffs are actually on my local beach (Broadstairs), about 20 miles from Dover. You're welcome to visit anytime, just be aware that the weather is not at all like Croatia 😅

  • From yesterday night walk. In XP4N “Low Light” mode, yellows and blues are cold and unnatural. I like it that way, but it’s not applicable to everything. Definitely not like Cinestill 800t, but it is in that direction.
(XP4N, Low Light, straight from the app, no modifications, reduced resolution.)

    These are beautiful! Wow!

Nobody asked for it (well, one person on DPReview did) but I'm adding it anyway because I think it's a fun challenge: support for Ko-Tanzaku scroll format.

Ko-Tanzaku is a traditional Japanese format (very narrow and high) usually painted on scrolls which were traditionally used to decorate narrow spaces between pillars in Japanese homes. It challenges the artist to capture a subject in its most essential form within the constraints of the paper.

Here's an (unedited) example test-shot I just took, compared to two famous Japanese examples:
    Coming later this week!

Is it possible to implement the sub-option “Do not crop unprocessed images?” This way we can keep full sensor-size images for further recompositioning. BTW, I love the Ko-Tanzaku format, but it won't be easy to find the right motive. 🫣

With respect, please don’t make this part of the double tap UI between Wide and Telephoto. Make it another separate option under settings for the purists who bought into the Hasselblad XPAN rangefinder concept and format only. It’s not something I want to have to click passed every single time I use the camera. It’s a format I’d never use.

Don’t worry. This will be hidden in the settings menu as an experimental feature. It’s much too niche (if not obscure) to explain to mainstream users.

Thank you. I'm enjoying this app, and this thread.

  • Whoa! T.M.I. !!! 🫣

  • Starting to feel like this app needs its own platform 😅

  • I reduced my photos in size. They are approximately around 200 KB per piece. So five of mine take less space than just one without reduction. Taeo probably made a mistake and uploaded the entire folder with 55 photos. 😅

  • The close-up of the ultra wide is quite respectable!

Visiting luchadores would definitely be on my list of things to do in CM. Is it difficult to get in or can you just show up at the entrance?

I just went to the arena here in Puebla that’s only a block from my hostel and bought a ticket this morning direct.

They don’t have matches all the time though. The next one isn’t until the 23rd. I’ve been wanting to go to one for a long time but the timing never worked out.

Got lucky this time! What a blast! :)

Love the colors on this one!

  • Now you have 00’s of new test shots, are the film types really delivering on the characteristics of the original film stock @brambos or is it time for some tweaking?

To my eyes, the Cinestill 800T film has somewhat lost its signature "halation" effect and the original cinematic charm of the app.

A lot of these shots are starting to look like they were taken with the normal apple camera, just in the XPAN format.

Now you are teasing me. 😅 I have planned to visit locations and all the national landscapes along the south coast, from Port Isaac and Cornwall surroundings to the cliffs of Dover. My only fear is driving on the wrong side of the street, haha. 🤦‍♂️

Dover itself is quite industrial with the ferry port, if you want the white cliffs and some nice sandy beaches then Broadstairs is a much better bet. When the tide is out you can walk for about 10 miles under the cliffs.

Also Julius Caesar supposedly landed in Pegwell Bay, which is about 4 miles from my local beach. The word for white in Latin is "alba", so when he saw the cliffs he named the land Albion.

  • Thanks for the new update

    Here are a few suggestions

    1. select the focal length (21/28/35/50/80/120 mmm or zoom)
    2. set focus points (where is the focus now?)
    3. make visible in the EXIF which film emulation was used
    4. a larger selection of film simulations (LomoChrome Color '92, other Lomo films etc)

Once again, thank you for your work

    Daniel

Sounds great! I will call my travel project “Albion”. 😌 I want to see those colors with my own eyes because there is no other way. Every place on earth has its own unique charm and color palette.
