    Just love this app!

  • Time to go down the ColorTheory and Film Types rabbit hole @brambos 😉

  • Actually I’m most interested in filters/film simulations than the frame factor (I crop my pictures to taste)

What other film simulations apps are out there? Preferably without tracking

    Plastic fantastic!
(XP4N, Low Light, straight from the app, no modifications, reduced resolution.)

    What XPAN, sorry, iPhone?

    iPhone 15 Pro Max.

When you say it like that, it sounds so exciting. Where I can buy the ticket, haha. But, after using XP4N for some time, all magic is in the format proportion and fixed color gamut. So if @brambos implements standard 3D LUT (.cube) table patches like we all used to in audio apps and different camera size formats, it will be a pure win for all.

On my desktop machine, I find DxO FilmLab quite powerful. Not sure if there's anything comparable on iOS, except maybe writing your own image processor using Pythonista etc. ;)

Thanks :) The actual location is really mundane, just one of my local parks (I was walking the dog). The high-contrast BW mode did all the work!

Cinetint is a nice little app with only one film look but I like it for some scenarios . I like XP4N more though

Kinda took it easy today. Wandered some and got caught in the rain. 🌧️ put a raincoat on and kept walking. Visited a 17th century library. (Biblioteca Palafoxiana) The oldest public library in the Americas. And, the second oldest public library in the world.

    Took some snaps :)

That second shot is gorgeous! B)

    I have just released 1.0.9

This adds a new "Gritty" film mode, inspired by Lomography Metropolis film. It's not nearly as lo-fi* as the actual metropolis film, but it borrows the "bleached" color characteristics (a slight green cast in the shadows, warm white in the highlights and an overall contrasty yet desaturated "overcast" color profile).

    • it's easy to make your image look more lo-fi and grainy in PP, but not easy to recover if it was already baked in. So I've gone rather light on the grain and unsharpness. Feel free to destroy the pictures further to taste in your editor of choice ;)

Wasn't there another cool library inside a church in the Netherlands?

I'm not aware of one (but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist, obviously). We do have a sweet bookstore in an old church building in Maastricht

    Bookstore Dominicanen, not my image:

I recently visited this one in Admont in Austria, which is pretty spectacular (my image):

  • Wow @brambos. That's exceptional. Thanks for the new entry on my to-view list :)

Yes, Maastricht is the one I had in mind. Spending 2 weeks in the Netherlands now, maybe I'll stop by when I'm close :)

Very nice pictures from Mexico you have provided us with, great!

    There's something special with library's.
I tried to find anything on what you "claim" but that library does not show on any search I did but it's a puzzle and a yarn of info, most are on libraries that are very old but have not been continuously open. Also, the majority is in Middle East, naturally.

Do they (Palafoxiana) state this as fact? (sure can be, I just wanted to see the/a list ...)

Why did you show this?! Now I have some researching to do on the Maastricht. 🤦‍♂️😂

Oldest public library is in Fez. This one is the second oldest public library and oldest in the Americas.

Not my claim. That’s what they say and is confirmed via Google search of “ Biblioteca Palafoxiana”

    Thanks 🙏 for the compliment

Coolness - I’m on a bus 🚌 for a daytrip. Was hoping to try this out. Still have signal and happy your apps aren’t excessive file sizes. Was able to update from the bus :)

Yeah the Americas position is mentioned but not the world, if I'm not blind but I did text search and could not find the claim of it being second oldest public library in the world. (I feel like an asshole but I mean no harm, I just want facts to be facts)

    Thanks 🙏 for the compliment

    You're welcome! 😊

I haven’t tried the new film, but the new UI feels noticeably more responsive. Thank you, @brambos, and thank you again for this app.

XP4N is magic for clouds. These shots were both of an actually pretty boring sky the other day, quickly taken just to try the app out.
