As long as the host can handle it using multi-out AUv3's is actually easier on CPU as there's no need to run multiple instances of the same plug-in...
True
but a drum machine ipad iv made ( just for drums )
Is ok with 9 Fac drum. 3 Blipbox ( to get around au amount limitations ) Plus 1 Fac drum for auto fills.
Bass synth
Fx etc
Euclidean or standard.
It works different ( 16 drum sounds per track )
It gets around not really being able to parameter lock au on a multi track to 1 au, basis.
By using the drum slots to sequence variations but also have adsr and pitch fx per track anyway, for step locks.
I am questioning a high buffer setting now though, to finger drum this elektronic ipad ( but which will also eucldean the oneshot samples iv made )
With this per track workflow in mind.
I can make a oneshot drums on another ipad. Low buffer etc.
Its just the way of triggering and sequencing oneshot compared to the electrinic drum ipad iv made.
Why I might just drambo module trigger the samples ( on the 2nd ipad still )
How more of each element you get from the jazz and metal sample packs ?
Trying to make 16 different acoustic elements x 12.
So 16 drums. 16 snares etc. 16 hats etc.
Dosent matter if I have to add a few electronics or other samples, I guess.
Just for this silly euclidean thing lol.
Hey man so,… how is the jazz kit???
Are you finding it worth the price???
Reading through all these comments...yes all of them...I got very confused about what it does and thought to hell with it, sounds far too complicated to program kits, working with other apps etc...I only really wanted the jazz kit and that is an extra double of what the app costs, unless you do some complicated jiggery pokery with a code and download and register from outside of the App Store and then apparently the Jazz kit disappears down some weird portal to another dimension anyway.
So after all that and not wanting to feel left out :-) ... I bought it anyway.
Up(one)shot being, a few minutes later, I have a big smile on my face listening to the sounds coming out of my iPad...If I am limited only to finger drumming I still won't have buyers remorse...as an extra bonus...there are some jazz drums included, right there on the screen, not on Alpha Centauri or in David Ickes brain...coolio..
Exactly - the jazz drums that come with the app are already brilliant
pretty awesome overall…multi-out is great…but it’d be even better if we could assign outs directly to the bus in AUM…not sure what that’d take…

Yes, I kind of wish it just had the regular old multi-out where multi-out 1 would play Slot 1, multi-out 2 would play Slot 2, etc. Do I remember someone saying the reason for that was that you can only load 10 instances of the same AUv3? I have never noticed such a limitation.
Ugh. I hate it when apps are like that. I don't want to have to set up a host output for every. single. hit. I want to have the flexibility to have everything going to a default output then pick and choose which slots I decide to send to additional outputs. And I want to be able to send more than one slot to each output.
👍👍😀😀😎😎
As you always say, I guess the devs can’t satisfy everyone, true. But, as pointed out, with the current system in oneshot, when u set up multi out and change preset, all your multi-out settings are lost (I’m talking about switching between factory presets, obvs)
That sucks for sure. But addressing just that issue would be better than throwing out the baby with the bath water.
imo. 😛
If you can’t see the insta video… Here’s a screen shot of the multi-out…you can see what I mean…by assigning to bus vs. slot would save some screen real-estate…not a big deal!
AUM would have to be re-architected to work that way. Unfortunately there is nothing OneShot can do to change that. AUM just isn't designed to work that way.
Yup…I understand…thanks!
Sure would be cool though.
Boys & girls, cool down!
As we said earlier, this app is just a few days old, and, things will be sorted out hopefully…
And, this is a 20 bucks app, not a Addictive/EZ/Battery app that can be 400 bucks - then we can be mad and bring ”hate” to our minds…
@nerVe - I spoke too soon.
If there was a multi-output FX version, that could totally work. 🤔
For instance, Loopy Pro as an FX can do it.
I think it's you who need to chill out. This is just a friendly discussion.
Oh That’s right! Nice work around option for developers to implement @wim
Of course, if they did that, we'd all immediately ask for sampling ability in the app. 😂
Grabbed Oneshot! early this morning and can't put it down to do anything productive this Sunday. Fantastic sounds and featureset. Fingerdrumming on my keystep 37 is a joy. I'm sure the pad players will be happy with this.
My only gripes so far are the app sizing/scaling and the expansion model. I'd pay $10 more per app to have them scale appropriately to our screens. I think offering the expansions on ios store for $5-8 a pop would be a good move for them, paying for the app 5-10 times over for extra sounds is always unappealing.
What format are the expansions in when you unzip them from the Klevgrand website / add them on the app?
OT I know, but ...
I was thinking about Drum Perfect Pro in light of this coming out. I have a soft spot for that app even though I don't use it much any more due to lack of features in the AUv3 player. They were moving toward a more robust AUv3 plugin. I feel sad that they weren't able to get it out sooner. I think they could have cashed in on a lot of added sales if they had.
Now, despite how fond I am of DPP, I don't think I could recommend it over OneShot other than for someone looking for a more esoteric level of sequencing than we have in most drum sequencer apps. I don't see anything to recommend it over OneShot for kit realism. 😐
Oh my ... except for CPU use!
Jeeez. 41% just sitting idle on my iPad 9th gen. Ouch! 😬
I don't think I'm gonna be making a whole lot of use of this one, unfortunately.
I wonder why it's so resource heavy when just sitting idle? Especially since the CPU doesn't seem to go up at all when playing. Hopefully there's potential for optimization there as the app is refined.
(Before I get slapped down by the content police, this isn't a complaint, just a reality for those like myself who won't or can't afford top of the line HW.)
OK, DPP is still very relevant for some of us.
What host are you in when you see 40%? That does not necessarily mean it is using a lot of CPU. It may mean there is little CPU demand and so the CPU is being throttled.
Loopy Pro recently had a massive idle efficiency improvement that results in the OS lowering the CPU speed. So CPU % jumped. But it brings more power online when needed. I did some stress testing for Michael to confirm that the number of instances of Moog Model D I could run had not gone down despite the high CPU number with only me instance.
That might not be what you are seeing, but it might.
AUM.
and "duh." about cpu monitoring unreliability.
No it's obvious. AUM is sitting at 2%. Add OneShot and it jumps to 41%. If throttling were involved, it would go the other way around. CPU would actually drop as the requirement went up and higher power cores were brought to bear.
Now that you mention it, it does make my ipad notably toasty compared to anything else lol.
Half of the CPU load seems to be coming from the FX. Disable them and it drops by 15% or more.
Also interestingly, the CPU indicator jump is far less in Loopy Pro.
I know it all is unreliable measurements, but still, there seems to be some room for optimization, and I'm sure it's somewhat problematic as it is right now for us low-end cheapskates. Hopefully that'll improve at some point.
Without the ghost metal add on kits how are the metal kits ?
Would like to know that too. I have the Mac (.dmg) and PC (.exe) version, but it doesn’t look like either of those will work.
