Well… I meant the whole thing. This is just perfect.
Oh hah dang
Yeah. Definitely a MAJOR boon for those that need it for kits. I'm blown away
Edit I'm just so excited to have a topic I'd been obsessing quietly for almost a year... And the perfect app for it releases (on the finger drumming side) - I can't wait for a few Ableton drummers I know and some I watch discover this animal
Of course they hide the files! That's perfectly reasonable. Otherwise people would just take the files and give them away to people. I think, if buying all these drum kits provided as presets on the open market as wav file collections, they would cost a hella lot more than $20. I still also think that sampling these without velocity layers is missing the point entirely. The app should be used, it's in things like the ability to set different trigger settings inside the app where all the power lies.
Yeah, the quality of the kits in here seems really superb. And hopefully this is one of those apps that will attract some of the finger drumming crowd over to iOS from desktop. It's an important release.
Dang 40$ for the jazz sample pack 😭
I mean its fair but i can’t pull that i was thinking it was like 20$
So, no Random Robin, only Round Robin?
I never did get why Round Robin is more more popular than Random Robin.
The humanization options should help with that though.
Kinda bummed that it's iPad only. But I'm sure I'll cave anyway.
@sfm : Have you a video on this subject ?
Use the discount and it will be 20:
Purchases of packs are made on the Klevgrand website, then loaded into OneShot (see the manual for details). Offer available until 2024-09-30. Remember to use the code P0PWk6VR at checkout to get the discount.
Ahhh that’s a much better price then! Thanks man, i totally missed there was a code!
They are 50% off for a limited time. Use >> P0PWk6VR << at check out.
There is an option for sequential or random robin, or am I missing something (not my field exactly😂)
Excellent. Thanks. That was the last thing hold me back from buying.
Did you try it? I did and it is quite frustrating process. Selected files are imported to OneShot in random order (or order I don't understand). So I had to reorder them manually for every slot I made. And e.g. NI battery has mostly more than 32 files for every drum (BD,SD,HH,..). Would be nice to have a function for A-Z and Z-A reordering after import. Why Z-A? Because some sample collections marked quitest sample in group with the highest number and then go down to the loudest.
@wim The setup is quite versatile and allows to mix the selection methods:
Huh, that's interesting. I was just running a little tests listening if I could catch the round robin loops, but just finger drumming, not sequenced (didn't think of trying that to test) and there's enough velocity layers that the looping really isn't noticable in the least
However, I can say I never thought of testing AudioLayer with a sequencer to test that either
So while I haven't touched the humanizing tools, running it full humanized (zero automation), it's undetectable
I will be testing a small vid tonight with a run thru of a few kits to see if a live kit play would translate well without physical visual of playing on the pad, just to show off how good each of these kits sound, one after another. Hopefully show a little of why my brain is so blown by this thing
Ooo I can compare to a couple of Drumdrops kits too!
Great Idea about the ordering. Request this from Klevgrand via email please. Anyone else who thinks it is important should also contact them, the more the merrier. No doubt that the app could benefit from some tweaks and additions
It's quite hard to make a video on this since once it's done for a specific plug-in it doesn't need to be done again unless deleting both LogicPro for iPad and the offending app... (Deleting just the app doesn't help since Logic keeps track of validated plug-ins).
On top of that sometimes a device reboot is needed for the system to scan for newly added AUv3-Extensions.
In short it's just a matter of long-tapping on the loaded plug-in and selecting 'replace' and picking the plug-in again and tapping on the 'Stereo' to reveal the rest, that is once the plug-in is properly registered.
I don't have OneShot and will NOT buy it just to check this issue which should have been fixed during beta prior to release anyway, I'm fed up with 'rush-to-market' releases...
btw. same 'replace' trick works if for example the side-chain input is missing and the plug-in supports side-chain, replace/reload and the side-chain thing pops up.
I have reported this issue to Apple and suggested running their auval tool on Logic's launch so it will scan thru all newly added plug-ins for their capabilities regarding inputs, outputs and supported sample-rates etc.
@Samu :Thanks…We’re due for an update around the time of the next Apple event..Let’s hope your concerns didn’t fall on deaf ears over in Cupertino..
By tomorrow evening we'll know the release date of iPadOS18 (18.1 will be the big update with the AI crap).
Considering LogicPro for iPad is built with SwiftUI (which will get a BIG update in iPadOS18) it will need a 're-compile/update' to reap the benefits of the OS update
Time will, tell...
👆 nice explanation.
The number of samples it will randomize upon will depend on how many samples you’re using. My Decatur and preferred setting is to have the slider around 1/3rd and set to randomize.
That allows you to not have to worry too much on the sequencer and still get a very dynamic feel.
Almost sampled the kits and realised on a per track basis.
Iv only got 15 track pads to map anyway.
So I were trying to see if an ipad could run 15 samplers, along with the 12 au euclidean/standard sequenced electronic au drums but would lose track triggers for the au drums to gain triggers for acoustic sampler tracks.
I will still sample.
So that I can load the samples to euclidean
but may as well have another ipads 15 pads mapped ( tracks )
So Iv got 2 ipads mapped for finger drums.
Unsure now if I will map oneshot to track pads and track sampler modules
Or just use the octave of oneshot.
The pros of oneshot are robins etc. Made kits and more hits.
The negatives are 19 + tracks for inputs and then 19 outputs ( but theres only actually 9 anyway )
If using Drambo but just thought I can point a midi drambo ( within a Drambo ) Yay .
Hmm.
But u don't really need more than 9 outputs anyway! Would rarely have a need for that many different fx chains. Just group the drums into 9 groups or fewer. Bass drum on one thing, snares on another etc. And you might not even need to use more than 9 sounds in a track from a kit, also.
Just used to the host dealing with everything, like a mixer because its how all other tracks will be.
Sends, volumes, pans. Making tracks stereo or mono.
Its there within app though and because everthing is made across ipads for me.
Say the mixer view of drums would be an ipad.
Mixer view of synths will be an ipad.
Mixer view of swams will be an ipad.
The mixer view is only actually good and not cluttered because of multi ipads.
I forgot most wont use multi ipads and when it comes to oneshot
Might just trigger oneshot the normal way ( using app )
and not the broken apart trigger via module way
but will continue to sample
because it will either be module triggered or not
Def can trigger from the euclidean drum iv made anyway ( fac drum au's )
So would need the samples anyway.
C´mon Sigma79 - take a chill and start using OneShot instead of looking intense to find drawbacks...
OneShot on iPad is just a few days old and there will be improvements down the road...
Of course.
I hope people dont read thread and think im dissing app ( dont think I can delete prior comments anyway with qoutes )
So still just at point from previous post.
Just sampling for now.
Probably or not will end up just triggering the app, instead of sample modules.
Just made a thread with a video I put up finger drumming thru the Standard Acoustic presets pack, hopefully letting you hear what grabbed my ears!
https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/62410/oneshot-papab-finger-drums-the-standard-acoustic-presets#latest
So I brought and downloaded the Jazz One Shot expansion and saved the download to Apple” My Files” and now I cannot find it ! Where does it get put ? Not in recent or downloads.
I tried a search and nothing. So now I got 323MB lost space and not sure how to recover?
There are 2 "Downloads" folders. One "On your device" and the other in "iCloud". Maybe it is in the other one.
@HarlekinX OK cheers thing I sorted it now I was actually open in that shifted my to the option my files that what confused me. I just found the download in Chrome. All sorted and working.
I dont use fac or blipbox multi out.
An au per track.
So wonder if people who use multi out drums, then use maybe aum to pan channels and use aum volumes for mixing. Additional to fx. Easier sten recording ?
Has anyone requested all tracks multi out.
Or wont they bother if its not important ?
Finding it more of a nuisance ( personal mapping )
Then samu being annoyed with mpe
But in theory swaying to just triggering track sample modules again because using a midi drambo in drambo seems weird and not full multiout seems weird.
The other issues to modules though, if you disregard no robins etc.
Is you then map host track buttons to trigger. If recording live it will record velocity but when adding steps without trigger pads.
You have to switch from track pad mode to keyboard mode to give the velocity. Otherwise you have to adjust loud velicities via velocity step menu. Drambo probably needs to priorities key velocity, over track pad velocity.
So its also a case of making another drum machine on a 2nd ipad. For cpu etc
but so you can actually have track triggers for both drum machines. You only got 15 track pads per drambo ( thats if you dont use a Drambo within a Drambo )
because if I did.
I may as well just trigger oneshot instead of sample modules.
I guess it is a case of more velocity layers and robins in oneshot is way more real than Drambo track samplers.
