I still can’t bring myself to pay extra for a kalimba soundpack though…

You can get a kalimba on Amazon for 5$ 😂 and make all the sound. Sampling a kalimba to play on pads is silly…. when you can just record the dang thing for 5$ 😂

In fairness, using the 50% off coupon that's good thru the app sale, it'll be $6.50, take zero time to sample and won't be another thing taking up space and gathering dust, only to eventually be waste when its done

I've got it in the cart with the jazz kit. I'm hella curious how a paid professional kalimba sounds compared to the various professionally sampled kits I've gotten to use, and the hobiest kalimbas I've gotten to use

I mean, dependent on velocity levels available, I wouldn't want to take time trying to hit that exact pressure over and over (or have to parse thru a recording to clip the right levels)

Convenience and quality could make it worth the full price for it too

But I haven't gotten to really hear it or play it all all, so... You could be spot on and this ends up being a horrible miss of devil's advocate xD

I'll be picking em both up by the end of the month and will do a demo of each. Hopefully as a First Listen play thru too

    Yeah I’m just being dumb!
I don’t really need kalimba in my jams enough to get it and there’s tons of sampleable kalima on the you a tube! But i do have a kalimba i take camping and stuff just to chill by the fire
The jazz one sounds cool, but 20$ is even a lot to me just because off all the samples i have bought that i don’t already use.
The op1f has kinda helped my curb my app and sample gas! Was an expensive fix but worth it. If not for that ida prolly bought the jazz drums then forgot i had em by Tuesday 😂
Id even make jazz wth do i need those for ah!! They sound great for those making jazzzzz tho

Yeah, id hope an OP-1 would curb plugin purchases for a bit 🤣🤣 (not trying to be a dick, that was just a funny thought)

And I don't need the jazz kit. I really don't. But I feel a need to do it .. errm.. for the people... Yeah... So I can be honest about its sounds through finger drumming... Yeaaahhh... YA HEAR THAT HONEY?! ITS NOW JOB RELATED!!

I connected A.F only to O.S in C and that worked fine. Please check so you actually added a drumkit in OneShot, the fact that the O.S default state is empty has fooled me a couple of times wondering why there is no sound...

Edit: tried your setup too, just for the sake of it: it works fine.

Edit 2: Here's what I discovered on further playing around: IF you have a 1 bar loop, A.F wont work but just drag the loop out a bit.. I don't know if A.F might need more than a bar to "wake up" and in that case it wouldn't work elsewhere either.

I know right …. But at this point what’s another $10?! Lmao - the op1F def stopped my GAS/AAS BUT that doesn’t mean an essential piece of software like this will often appear….but I laughed at your post because I felt the same way, I said to myself “ehhhh don’t reallllly need to” , in my case I DO make metal stuff so it’s really hard to not have AAS for the kits….iow I don’t consider having one shot for iOS just any old drums, it’s what we wanted for a decade , so it isn’t qualifying as AAS since it’s essential; but the IAP is….

But let’s be honest , I’m most likely going to have to just get the unholy drums !!!

  • Im prob buying the expansion packs.

    Drum machine wise goes.

    1 ipad 9 at 1024 buffer

    another at probably 256 buffer.

The first ipad is 12 AU drum machine.

Good for Eucidean but also sequencing most likely, FAC/Blip synth drum variations ( 16 per track ) So its kinda more like a volca drum etc.

The other ipad is low buffer for launchpad drums input. Will probably just use 16 Drambo samplers and forget about oneshot as a player. The ui will be better. Multiout ?

Iv even got a 12-16 multiout for autofills additional, on the 12 AU euclidean ipad. A multiout way less essential.

So why would I not just make another template for fingerdrums/launchpad drums if the other 12 AU drum machine is about 1024 buffer ?

The 12 au drum machine can still be available. Just as an electronic, euclidean/volca drum.

Or a blend of both ipads as drums. Launchpad triggered plus some steps that wernt launchpad triggered but also access to a drum sound generator. Sample hits via USB.

The FAC AU on the electronic drum ipad can also double as a 12 au 16 voice per track, sample player. So oneshot type sounds that arnt drum sounds

    It will have to do.

  • some people suggest adding a sequencer in an update
I really hope they don't do this
they should focus on the ui

Regarding the quality of the kits…
I was looking forward to the arrival of OneShot as we were lacking on a good app for multi-layered, acoustic drums. Besides a couple of bugs and issues that I hope get solved soon, OneShot has delivered.
I had zero expectations about the included kits. Didn’t even think about it, I just thought I’d add my own samples (Deumdrops or whatever). If anything, I expected to find your typical boring “Stadium and Rock drums” presets just because.
To my initial surprise, the included presets are numerous and superb. If in doubt, checkout @PapaBPoppin video where he demoes a bunch. The included kits sound great, very natural, I much prefer them over the Logic drums which are a lot more processed and “muffled”. The number of velocity layer samples per slot is huge.
In conclusion, the app alone is well worth the price. It has the best and most comprehensive implementation of multi-layers and round robin, plus a very well laid-out UI and a very intelligent, capable and unique “trigger” system for mapping and control. Plus an immense out-of-the-box amount of options to tweak and add randomness and dynamics to the sounds.
But to add all these kits for 20€?. That’s ridiculous. That’s the “on sale, special offer” price of one kit from any decent library with these many articulations.

This was why I queried the sale price (30% off, or 30% of the full price?) near the beginning of this thread, there's just a ridiculous amount of kit (excuse the pun) if the full price is only going to be a tenner more than say, Skaka.

I'm loving it, and particularly enjoying delving into kit making with my own samples - you can have a whole bunch of fun with just a handful of pads.

This is definitely a pricey app on desktop - 150 bucks if I remember. But the iOS price, especially at intro, is genuinely a fabulous bargain. Likely “app of the year”

Yeah, one of my favourites so far!

Must have been a plugin discovery thing, I have no idea how that goes, doesn’t make sense. Why would Logic identify the “stereo” version and not the multi-out?. And then out of the blue it comes up?. I did try the “replace” trick. Maybe I restarted the iPad and that did the trick?.
    Anyways, great news.

Yeah I got them when they were released, can't recall how much discounted it was. I also got the Ugritone metal midi drums, at the time for a real bargain. Anyway, they sound good but they're not standing out from the factory ones that much.

Question is - what makes metal drums? I'd imagine it might be things like heavy compression etc, no? In which case you can probably easily enough set up some existing factory presets in a way that sounds good with metal, I reckon

Dude when i saw those metal drum packs you were the first one i thought of, you godda get those!
I don’t see a lot of samplers that really focus on metal samples!
    That’s a no brainser!!
And you can just sample em out that amazing op1f! And have metal all over

    Argh
Just when I thought I was out they pulled me back in…..yeah? Definitely ?? I mean they have some good metal kits as it is,

Hard to justify $20 for 5 kits when they have 100+ kits and the base app for $20.

Anyone at all get Unholy Drums?

Yeah 20$ is steep for only 5 kits honestly

When I think about well recorded acoustic drum kits I think, only $20 for 5 kits! Woo hoo!

  • Oneshot is not working properly in a miditrack in Auria pro.
Think i sample some drums and put them into yamaha montage keyboard…

Question is - what makes metal drums? I'd imagine it might be things like heavy compression etc, no? In which case you can probably easily enough set up some existing factory presets in a way that sounds good with metal, I reckon

Actually your quite right Gav - mostly compression, some EQ and a dash of reverb. I made two great metal kits ; and one mediocre one. I almost want to upload the presets to see if any other metal heads approve lmao but not a lot of metal heads around these here parts

@Ailerom you DO kinda have a point. 5 or 6 amazing well recorded kits Just for metal, I feel obliged to support lol we’ll see, I still have a week or two to decide I think , but I doubt it’ll be $20 again anytime soon with BF around the corner

OK, if Unholy Drums have 5 kits I'm probably back in the game. It is strange that Klevgrand does not mention this information anywhere.

  • (It’s actually 9 total kits /checked the website..)

Bear in mind tho that it has different presets, but in many cases there will be huge overlap of the samples used. The main differences between the presets then might be in things like the fx and eq, as well as adjustments to the trigger settings
