There is no clock out YET. When we asked what people wanted most, there was a large chorus of SYNC IN! It's certainly possible to add. In fact, it's bound to be easier than SYNC IN.
For now, we suggest using nordbeat 2, MIDIBus, or other MIDI clocks to run Diode-108 synced with other apps (or hardware) that follow sync. nordbeat 2 is free! That's what I'm doing to sync Diode with Korg Volca hardware, and it's a blast.
Thanks for prompt response @diode108. Will give nordbeat 2 a try. Did notice the 'YET' so looking forward to the 'WHEN'
We have a long list of todos!
Thanks to a beta tester named Nick, I have Diode-108 in nice tight locked sync with Auria. Thanks Nick! It will go into our FAQ on MIDI, which we'll try to get on our website today. So ... put Auria back on the "yes" list.
I even checked a full line of 1/16th note high hats, and they were nice and smooth. No more "drunkstep."
For the impatient, here are Nick's instructions. (It still took me a few minutes of fiddling before I got it right, so don't get discouraged. :-)
"Here's what I did:
Start up both apps and set Diode to receive clock from Auria and Auria to send clock to Diode. In Auria I clicked on the FX button for Track 1 and in the Insert drop down on the right there is a list of effects and compatible apps. Choose Diode.
Arm the track to record. Go to Diode and press play so that it is parked on beat 1. Back in Auria press Record and then Play. You should have Diode playing back through Channel 1 and recording. At the end of recording you should have an audio clip of your Diode pattern. I recorded about 9 measures.
Then I dragged that clip down to Track 2 and repeated the process, recording to Track 1. While recording there was some slight phasing between channels but not much. After about 9 measures I stopped recording. I trimmed both clips to 8 measures and panned 1 channel hard right and the other hard left. I put them in loop playback and they were in sync. I double-checked that both apps were rewound to beat one before recording. Double-clicking the stop button in Auria would usually reset both to beginning.
Give it a try!"
Beta testing a new version that gets rid of the "OMNI" requirement for MIDI Sync, fixes a bug where songs with swing don't start out correctly on the first couple of beats, fixes a bug where some people were sometimes getting scrambled audio when rendering a wav file (to Audioshare, AudioCopy, or Dropbox, and possibly to SoundCloud), and fixes a bug with a graphics OpenGL context issue where you could sometimes crash the app switching between PATTERN, FX, PADS, DRUM MACHINE, and SONG views.
@Diode108
Get some sleep man. LOL!
Hey @Diode108, bought your app last night, really digging it so far. :-)
Haven't read the whole of this thread or the manual (Yet), but is it possible to put a Solo Instrument button on the effects (FX) page?
Many Cheers!
@Korakios, that is an amazing idea. I'll have to try that!
@KING777, yeah, several people have asked for that. We will add that to the roadmap somewhere.
Ok, cool, thought as much.
I'm sure many have asked for stem export also, but I'm putting it there.
This app has a good feeling! There are a couple of others (apps) I will now delete as this is more versatile, flexible and programable.
Cheers!
Thanks, KING777, glad to hear it.
We have been asked for stems. Would it be OK to have 16 autonamed wav files?
Yeah it would definitely be OK. :-) We have to be able to choose which individual files of course. But having them (stems) will be a big plus for us all.
Did you know that right now you can SOLO a track and export song (or at least I think this works)? Kind of painfully manual, I realize.
Yeah, I thought that would be an option, (at least it 'is' an option)
@Diode108 said: ... 'or at least I think this works,'
Just soloed an instrument and exported to Audioshare, works perfect.
Mute All button can be added globally
While I'm here, can the pads on the drum machine light up like the pads on the 'pads'?
Like I said, haven't read this whole thread, sure it's been requested.
It has been requested indeed! :-)
Lovely Jubbly! :-)
Where are the midi tutorials? I must be missing something because I can't get it to start from mIdibus.
http://vibrantdigitalengineering.com/support/
Let me know if that doesn't help.
Read the section called "General Guide to Getting MIDI Sync Working" and check out the settings in the MidiBus section as well.
Thanks for that. Does work fine. What I had missed was that I needed to set the midi sync up then press play in diode then switch back to MB and press play.
Ah, right. Glad you got it running. We'll see if we can smooth that flow out a bit.
Metronom is quite fun to sync to as well as you can run the speed in metronom up over a number of bars......
Excellent. We put a lot of work into making Diode-108 support rapid sync speed changes (in fact, we don't do any averaging at all--if any developers want to discuss this, feel free to private message me). It should track dead on, even if the speed changes constantly.
Can you give me a link to Metronom? I might want to make a video of that. I can't find it with a search of "metronom". Is that how it's spelled?

Thanks, bought it! I'll see if I can fit it in to the MIDI sync video I'm making today.
OK, Metronom driving Diode-108 is rather awesome. It took me a while to figure out that I had to break the quarter steps into 16ths, then it took me a while to figure out I had to turn the metronome sound off to get Metronom to run at speed.
I now have Metronom running Diode with a floating tempo sweep 10 to 400 bpm, smoothly climbing/falling by 50 bpm per measure. Definitely video-worthy!
Cool, thanks!
not possible to name the tracks and export the stems with their current names?
@kobamoto, do you mean the user would name the tracks? It's possible, of course. The feature is trivial if we dump them out as Track1, Track2, etc. If we let the user name the tracks, all of the sudden the feature needs UI.
i see, was just thinking it's useful to not have to go through stems and rename them but If it complicates things maybe not.
