  • I'm not a drummer so I really love Rock Drum Machine but it doesn't have any midi yet. So I really wish there was a way random pattern generator...like with some dice like in Different Drummer, where the app comes up with useable phrases by pressing the dice...that would be so cool!

  • We have talked about pattern generators. I can't promise when.

  • Import of midi patterns to diode would be awesome yes indeed. I was trying that myself but perhaps in a future update?

  • Is there a good repository of MIDI drum loops out there? I'd like to see what they look like. Right now we are 100% quantized, so this is not something that would make sense yet with the internals laid out as they are.

  • Yup groove monkey has tons of great ones just for one ,I have a whole library purchased for use with session drummer. Some of them are excellent.

    OK. Thanks.

  • Bought it and now downloading. Can't wait to play around.

  • Plus 1 for Midifile import, was thinking about that. Even within a 16 beat grid (as is) there are wonders to be imported and tweaked.

  • True but this might make more sense implement after we go off grid. After all, you can already do MIDI note in. You just need to find an app to run the MIDI clock and send the notes into Diode.

  • Feature added only when it's right to do so, in your own time and logic :-)

I'll check that out tomorrow. Sounds good!

  • @KING777 Would LOVE to know if that works. Might not want to know if it doesn't. :-)

  • I got the impression the silence is at the end of every export isn't it?

  • edited May 2015

It used to clip the end too early, so I think we wait for the signal to fall below a very low threshold. Not sure what's going on. I'll take a look.

    Tested with Beatmaker 2:

Able to trigger sounds via keyboard, programmed a quick sequence on the piano roll. Record via IAA, Synchronisation very good!

Imported a midi file drum loop. Your mapping is a little different, but was picked up from C3 on C Major scale. So some notes would have to be transposed.

  • That happens with midis imported to Korg sequencers as well . I have to increase by twelve semitones for midis imported to both my Triton and M50 synth/workstations in order to have them play correctly.

Yeah, with Diode it's not using any sharps or flats, for Midifile a lot of them are GM and have their HiHats on F# for example. Diode is only using C Major/A minor scale.

Well that's kind of pleasantly amazing that it worked. So the sync drove it all and the notes went into reasonable step locations?

You could change the mapping with Diode's MIDI learn, I guess.

Just tried the midi learn, I guess it's just works with hardware, not sure...

The sync didn't start Diode. It was just the fact that it played the samples in time with BM2’s clock.

No notes were added to Diode in the process.

    Diode became a sound module.

  • Ah OK. I need to find out if Beatmaker 2 can sync with Diode-108. It's still listed in our MIDI FAQ as an "unknown". If anyone manages to verify Beatmaker 2 as a yes, I'd love to hear about it.

  • Hmm. I've only ever tried MIDI learn with hardware. Let me think about that.

I was just able to do learn in software. I set a pad up in Diode to learn then switched over to nord beat to send a MIDI note in.

    Same here. (Regarding the hardware)

Can't get it to sync, but that doesn't mean it doesn't.

My brains going to sleep now. I'll look at it again for ya in a while. :) Zzz...

  • Thanks for the cool tests! Goodnight.

  • Enjoy!

    Interesting..

  • @KING777 I know you're itching for Auria Pro, but way to entertain yourself in the meantime :)

  • Thanks for that :)
