...ok,put me in coach!!:) So here's a song that I finished the vocals last week (still counts right?) I'm running a bit ahead of myself this month but it's cool as it buys me more time for next months song.
So this one is arranged and inspired by the 80's retro pack in Novation launchpad.Its good,CHEESY,80's fun.If all the guys from the Big Bang Theory were to write a love song this may be a close representation!:D
I will submit songs where I actually do all the music from scratch but this one for me was just about challenging myself to write words that I've never used in a song before to what I think is an awesome sound pack in the Novation app.

@LostBoy85: Love your track Supernova, with it's Yazoo/Depeche Mode style sequence opening underpinned by a more modern pumping pad. Great vocals too. Like the way you mixed 80's cheese with more contemporary effects to produce a very catchy tune worthy of airplay today

You've a lot of convincing noise going on there. Not my sort of cheese, but well done for putting the the words to the the loops. I'm not wholly convinced that you really believe everything you're telling this object of your affection, but you have a good voice which -of course- I would like to see put to use for things that I like. Usual stuff

Very atmospheric,I loved the change up at 2.20 very cool.plus I'm always a fan of double lead guitars.One question,what parts are you using guitarism? Is it for the picking? I don't play guitar but I'm so impressed with the sound of guitarism and I hope to use it in a song soon.

@LostBoy85 A good question cheese-wise. Truth is I lived in London during the eighties but was too busy with the junk market to pay attention to the fromage on the radio that much and then in the nineties I lived in Manhattan and with all that was going on with my friend Charlie dairy products didn't enter into my consciousness. I think I'm going to have take a long hard look at myself.
@LostBoy85 great use of the Launchpad app to create your own thing. Smooth as silk with some really nice vocals that were very nearly loud in the mix (common club pitfall). Curious whether you recorded and assembled the various loops with the vocals in a DAW or sang along with a recorded Launchpad performance. Either way, terrific early June salvo. Bar set, gauntlet thrown and cheese for Mr. Cleese

So tastefully composed, and nigh-flawless execution. It's just a pleasure to listen to it build on the initial themes throughout. Great guitar work in particular, love to hear this with a more varied drumtrack.
@LostBoy85 as someone who had to endure the 80s as a teenager, where the Smiths, the JAMC, and Pixies were the only relief in a deluge of Stock, Aitken and Waterman produced pop your track made me wonder if Rick Astley is making a comeback? Please say no
Jokes aside, this vocal performance is even better than last month's, and the production on the voice is also top-notch, and this really could have come out of the Hit Factory in 1987. The vocal melodies are really varied and inventive, you're shaping up to be a great songwriter, and I could imagine that with a different sound palette this song could fit in to almost any genre. The backing vocals are also great. Great job, even if the 80s revival is not something that should really be encouraged.

Slick stuff. I'm more Stock, Hausen and Walkman than the other lot but I can appreciate the ease of listening for this one, and the vocals are good.
Funny really when everyone talks about the 80's and assumes we all had power shoulders, brick sized mobile phones and listened to SH&W songs - after escaping Basildon and the 'Modes, I was a spaced out dreadlocked freak on the peace convoy for a lot of it, grocking to Hawkwind and the Hippy Slags.
Yeah nice, I even put my cape on for this one.

@eustressor to answer your question,I did record the music in Novation (took a lot of takes I can assure you!) I then imported to Auria,sung in an empty car park in the middle of the night in my car!!

Ha ha! Don't panic guys,I'm just channeling me! I like all kinds of music and I'm having a great time trying my hand at different stuff.
Here's my June entry. Oldie! Also my first time actually playing piano using my old Alesis synth as a controller instead of playing on the glass. Recording at about 2/3 actual speed plus a bit of editing on the piano roll (nevermind the fact that my left and right hands were never on the keyboard at the same time) and I was surprised how usable the result was.
This is actually the first half of a Southern Rock song for my Sci-Fi album, but I thought I heard a neo-Floyd Cramer-esque thingie in there, so I threw down an upright bass track to make it a trio and some vinyl mangling and kaboom! B-side
Apps used: Gadget (Salzburg and Bilbao with SampleTank drum samples), iFretless Bass, Audiobus, Auria and Master Record. All feedback, particularly from true ivory ticklers, is welcome.
Felt like I was back in London pub circa nineteen-hundred-and-frozen-to-death. This is a good and almost weepy thing. Pavlov be damned.
Apparently, Cramer's rule is an explicit formula for the solution of a system of linear equations with as many equations as unknowns, valid whenever the system has a unique solution. This now makes perfect sense to me.
I imagine an old woman, perhaps at one time quite beautiful, singing something over this (from 45 secs). A war bride. A little quavery, but still strong. I am trying to picture science fiction in this context, but can only manage bomb shelters under the hands of Lawrence Paull, the guy who was the Production Designer on Blade Runner (well, alright, he did the same job on Back to the Future, but that would be a different tune).
It's quite strident in places. I'm trying to fit the snake dance in there also, but will need to think on that some more....
A nice rendition, with variations, of the old C Am F G progression so beloved of the 1950s/early 60s and actually many more tunes since

@eustressor nice track, has plenty of movement and variation in it to keep it interesting. My only thought is that the middle section could maybe be more filled out, maybe with a synth pad or some (subtle) strings.

Remember, this is an alternate version of the actual Sci-Fi track, which will lose the upright bass and gain the electric bass, two or three guitars and vocals the manual of Southern Rock Anthems (as written by the Outlaw Lynyrd "Don't Call Me Molly" Hatchett) requires. That's the track I'll need to work into the concept album. I already know the context, but it's very interesting to see where this version took you. I'm quite flattered it took you anywhere at all, let alone to spectres of old pubs, war widows, bomb shelters and Blade Runner.

Yeah, I'm a sucker for that particular progression, in measured doses. Thank you for your kind words! The piano got it's slight vintage warble from the Master Record app, which also provided the vinyl ambience, a bit of EQ and some limiting. Nice app, really. The original piano sound is the "bright grand" preset in the Salzburg gadget, aka Korg Module.
Thank you! The thought of someone humming your song ... What more could I ask for? The piano harmony you mention was the one part recorded in real-time at real tempo in one take, inspired by Tori Amos circa 1994. Approaching those magical eighties, but afraid to take the plunge
