  • Superb update! After fixing the Launchpad Mini MK3 device name used in the mapping everything worked. And I like that MIDI mapping as it's simple, easy to understand and with feedback. @giku_beepstreet thanks for this update. It's now a joy to jam with the Launchpad mini.

What’s the best Drambo video series for the most current version? It looks like it’s between Leo at SoundForMore, Doug at thesoundtestroom and Ben Richards.

What are you looking for in regards to overview/help with the app.

I think it’s your channel that I’ve seen before, but pretty sure you made a few really good project tutorials on Drambo. I really appreciated that you shared the project files. Also your tutorial on flexi sampler and building a whole song is such a dope way to approach teaching the audience about the app.

If you plan on doing videos let me know! I don’t want to step on anyone’s toes / not sure I could bring anything more to it if you’re going to be giving it a proper go.

(Apologies if I’ve mistaken you for another creator! That would be embarrassing)

Watching these now. Thanks for the heads-up and of course to @echoopera!

Do you make YouTube videos as well? Or am I also trippin here too lol.

Haha you may be full on rolling face for all I know, but I WAS doing vids a bit. Took a back seat (life, ya know?), but still learnding, building, creating... Got quick tutorials I want to record however I'm posting this on break at my 3rd shift restaurant job (most interaction time for me on the forums lol), so asafp for sure

☠️ 😂 - While that sounds fun, I’ve had my fair share of rolling 🥴

Truth be told I’ve never been more clean in my life than I have been over the last 2 years and change. Didn’t put two and two together until today that having this music learning / making hobby has completely, yet unknown to me, sobered me up.

Not all at once of course but I was wondering when the last time I did xyz and realized the last time I even smoked was the literal day I bought Drambo, 2023-04-20. 🙇🏻‍♂️

Quit Drinking 1 ½ years ago but probably hadn’t gotten drunk in well over 2 years as well I just can’t exactly recall.

Talk about peak nerd behavior, going sober after 20 years of never once contemplating it, by accident, because of modular software iOS apps. 😬

A fellow restaurant industry person as well. Hope the shift goes by quick enough 🙏🏽

I guess I gotta find the exit row on self imposed projects as well evidently 😅🤷🏻‍♂️

Omg the project ideas I have NOT started (Google keep is almost a decade deep with games(video and board/card)/stories/movies/shows/words/names ideas)

I have notes on my Apple Notes app from 12 years ago lol. Literally. Almost to the day.

But I now choose to clean out my notes every start of the year. New habit. Just review those ideas and let em go (archive / zip / put em on external storage so not really lol) but I found I’ve kept a few and took some ideas that found their ways into other things with this method. Feels nice having the clear space. Eventually even just erased ones that I deemed fine but not worth holding onto.

Hell this new Drambo update forced me to clean up my files and commit to a more organized structure while letting go of many, many 2025XFINALEDITT2 projects that I was never going to finish lol.

Yaaaaaaay obsessive stimming mixed with constant brain shotgun blasts of thoughts and ideas!!

Hmmm... Maybe I'd have more time in the day if I stop showering and eating....

Showering, good, eating, good. Maybe an accountability person to edit down these thoughts and ideas to something manageable? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Gotta remind ourselves that only we may have the opportunity to give ourselves the permission to be okay, to perhaps not be okay for a time, to grow past previous perceived inadequacies, to reflect and make better decisions we can be proud of, all in an effort to eventually have us get rid of the all too familiar-self-deprecation-humor-mask/crutch and actually follow through with what we want to achieve. To find comfort in the unknown of accomplishments rather than staying comfortable in the all too well known feelings of not doing what we actually want to do.

At least that’s what I tell myself after years of therapy and now being left to my own devices. ADHD on the other hand doesn’t quite agree 😅

Videos coming soon then. Already have a few shorts recorded 🙏🏽🤘🏽

Congrats on sobriety. Been sober since september (weed and alcohol). Didn't have any problem with substances, but was curious on living life raw. It's not always easy, some days are more uncomfortable than others, but who said life should always be easy ;) First I thought I'd never find joy in doing music sober. Boy have I been wrong!! Grateful for having such a fulfilling hobby!

Once I figure out Battalion, my new Midi Fighter Twister and create a few songs in the next few months, Drambo is next. Looking forward to dig in deeper in this modular world!!

Oh thanks for responding to this. Congrats on your sobriety and I wish you more easier days than hard. Completely agree about creativity sober, I wouldn’t know about music specifically but there were many hobbies of mine I thought always needed at least smoke. Drink became past time. Then one day, it all just stopped and I haven’t had the desire to participate again.

Looking forward to those songs and I’m always willing to chop it up about Drambo. Are you on Jakob Haqs discord?

Thanks again! This made my morning 🙏🏽

Glad to be hearing your take, it's always refreshing and motivating to read people who are on a similar path. And happy to have positively contributed to your day :)

I still need to figure out this whole Discord thing! I'll surely eventually get there :P Didn't know Jacob Haq had a channel. Is there anything special about it?

It’s a good server but mostly there’s a Drambo channel when you’re ready to dive into that I’m pretty active on as well as a couple others!

He links it in his videos btw!

Great! I'll have a look, probably sooner than later! I'll let you know when I'm there. Thanks for the invitation :) Much appreciated!

(Re:Editing in loopy) Do note length edits stretch retained info? I've done moving, but didn't test length and it's effects

I'm not completely sure I understand the question but ...

Except for poly aftertouch, MPE data isn't tied to notes. It seems that way because it's "per note" expression. But it's really only separate data sent on the same channel as each note. Loopy can't edit CC, pitch bend, channel pressure, and poly aftertouch. It can only edit Notes.

So if you move or lengthen a note, that's all that gets moved or lengthened. The rest of the expression data will still be where it was and won't sound right.

@oscillotus Just got me a Midi Fighter Twister too. I might look into using it for tweaking sequences live, like for notes and chords on dedicated tracks.

  • where can i get default mapping files if i garbled something, and don't know how it was mapped before?

Hahaha. That’s very funny. Gotta find a way to break the ice. Funny how that ends up falling on the non drinking people often times.

Cheers to you as well. Agree whole heartily about experiencing life, warts and all.

Really don't want to make this thread about our drug intake or absence of, but since you're so many I as well have done what you'll describe but with a bit of a backlash. All my friends acquaintances has stopped calling and I have learnt that the reason is I'm a very different person when drinking i.e I become fun, social and interesting. Damn if I know how I appear sober but it can't be good. 🤣🤣
Anyway, I'm happy with it: alcohol just don't do anything positive for me so why drink. THC is okay but to damn expensive and I have no issues being without. Nicotine is the last of the weights (still vaping). Glad to read about others having the same mindset. Cheers to you'll!

I always strive to stay at least a bit moronic in social events, even if the "warm up" phase feels a bit uncomfortable. After that, it kind of flows. But I hear ya, I definitely get less calls. On the other hand, I got a lot closer to the people who are still there. Cheers to you as well!

For now the option is getting them from a fellow user and replace in File > on my ipad > drambo > midi

I can post a zip here when I get home

If enabled, all your files are visible in the Files.app inside the Drambo folder. You'll find the mappings under the MIDI folder. To back up stuff, I usually compress the file using Files.app and rename it, adding the current date and time.
Default mappings are restored when you re-install Drambo but if you just need a mapping, either pick it up from another iDevice or ask a good friend for it 😉

For now the option is getting them from a fellow user and replace in File > on my ipad > drambo > midi

yeah, already done almost that (found where are they stored on my desktop Mac and copied them).

also, i ordered second LP Mini mk3 to control Drambo, and somehow my setup with two Minis works – one is connected to GR2 and another to Drambo.

@chaocrator How do you set the device id if you’re using multiple LPs?
    Interested in your setup..

  • Here is a fixed mapping file for the Launchpad Mini MK3. Simply unzip the file and put the .drmapping file into Drambos MIDI folder. The new mapping is called Launchpad Mini…. instead of LP Mini…
It uses “Launchpad Mini MK3 LPMiniMK3 MIDI Out/In” as device/port name.

do you love 70s/80s sci-fi movie style mission control centers like i do?
    it now looks like this
(audio interface, USB hub and power bank are behind the scenes, or rather behind the left Launchpad)

Device ID is set from bootloader mode.
but that probably doesn't matter, i just figured out that what really matters is USB hub socket.
whatever, it works and i'm happy.

I see, thanks for explaining, and your setup ports me back ages, somehow it brings back the thrill of being a teen and going into an arcade in the early 80’s

in the early 80s we the Soviet kids did not have that arcade stuff, and even in the late 80s few of us did.
that's why i have it now (well, sort of).
