  • Thanks @Bluepunk. I have to be honest and admit that I'm not sure how I got that sound to do what it does, the speeding up and slowing down thing. I wish I knew cos I really like the effect. Yeah I did spend some time mucking about with the vocals but then everyone told me they can't hear what I'm singing. I will just put it down to a learning experience and keep trying I guess.

Can't mention any details about the incident yet for legal reasons but you would laugh at the idiocy of it ;)

What can I say? My Stock, Aitken and Waterman records will always be there for me.

Stock, Hausen and Walkman surely? I always look forward to your tracks, and enjoying the added bonus of vocals this month. I get the Throbbing Gristle reference @Bluepunk mentioned, does have a bit of Mr Genesis P in the vocals too. Normally the clipping in the vocals would annoy me, but they all seem to fit in with the general thing.

My iPhone 5 died yesterday, so forced to upgrade to a 6s this week. Nice to hear someone getting some interesting sounds out of an iPhone.

I seem to have forgotten everything I heard of Throbbing Gristle growing up. Wasn't a big listener myself but knew a few friends that exposed me to their material. Maybe my memories of it still linger in my subconscious.

You could probably say I'm treating the vocals more as another instrument to be abused but the voice does tend to evoke reactions quite differently than more abstract noises.

I was more impressed than I expected to be with the 6S. It lacks quite a few apps that we take for granted on the iPad but there is something really nice about the form factor now. Although I had to get a case coz it's a slippery little bugger when naked. (the phone naked, but you guessed that..)

I find listening to something first thing in the morning is quite good for getting a new perspective.

Wearing women's clothing, putting one's head in the fridge just before listening, standing on the railway tracks and being certain this is the last sound you will ever hear; none of these have worked for me so far.

    Have you tried heavy drinking?

You can gain all sorts of perspectives this way: there's listening while drunk, and for a less flattering perspective listening when hungover.

  • @richardyot I tried heavy drinking for thirty years and finally woke up after nearly three weeks in ICU, but still didn't like the tune the Doctors were singing me.
