KLF aha aha aha...boo bee boo...KLF is gonna rock ya!!!:D hmm..very hard to sing in text format!
@Halftone I am also an "I like this or that" type of critic. Listened a few times and think it's a great track. Does not get too busy for me.
Well, sad to say that you missed out on the most crucial and exciting period in electronic music history..so much innovation, excitement and fun!
But..your quoting pop music bands mate..
Have a listen..

@RUncELL cool tune. I also liked seeing your workflow. A bit creepy in a good way.
Gotcha..not bad stuff, I hear you
I used to like that kind of darker stuff, but truth be told, I'm 45 now and mellowing out a bit
I veer toward the atmospheric emotive type stuff these days, and my girlfriend is a massive influence on my internal state too if you know what I mean
>
I also seem to be gearing towards that - must be an age thing (I'm 43)
Yes, I think it's called growing up lol..
Was just in YouTube digging up some links for another comment reply and had a listen to some of the "bangers" I used to love but..they don't digest as well anymore it seems
Ok guys so this is my entry for this month.Marcel very kindly let me write a song to his excellent august track and has been very helpful throughout this whole process for me with lyric ideas and pushing me to get the vocal right! (Thanks again mate:)
This one was sung into my wardrobe (a little tip I picked up off the old inter web:)
Straight into the iPad mic as always.Any thoughts are welcome:)
@LostBoy85 & @Marcel
Killer combo. This is the real deal. Amazing tune and vocals. Must admit it is so good it makes me want to trash the song I am working on. Great job guys!
Hold the front page: Collaboration! Men In The Wardrobe! Song of the Marriage Club! Scandal, excitement and love songs filled with longing; it's all here....
@Marcel @lostboy85 Gosh. Must calm down. Seriously though, good for you chaps. I'm forever humming along to SOTMC submissions and thinking that the best of the (wordless) ones need some heartbroken young stud to have a croon. Not being currently available for the role I'm glad someone else has stepped into the wardrobe and done the needful.
Your two styles are well suited. I'm not certain there's a song you could sing on Mister Lost which wouldn't remind me of summers I've never actually had. This, while your own affair, brings to mind Don Henley and Foreigner somehow and sundown in South Miami. I suspect that your favorite musical year (as it were) and mine might be different, but I think you represent your own tastes very successfully and none of us can hope to do much better.
@RuncELL interesting dark and broody track, some twisted sounds and in parts the atmosphere is very strong. The drums are a bit relentless sounding for me, and the fact that they are playing in half-time against the synth riff is quite unsettling but that also adds to the dark atmosphere of the track.
Personally I think a "proper" mix would probably help to add some clarity to it all. Also think that the video takes too long to really get going. And the problem with the "I am Nave" patch is that it's too well-known as a preset, I think it would have been better to replace the vocal sample with something more home-grown.
But overall I did like the dark menacing atmosphere, I think you managed to convey an unsettling mood very successfully and in a musical way.
@LostBoy85 (and @Marcel) this is a very good collaboration, and a very interesting juxtaposition of two very different styles that produces something quite surprising and effective. Marcel's music always has that sad minor key feel to it, so hearing you sing on a track like that adds a completely new dimension to your voice that I'd never heard before, and that is also much more to my taste musically than the more upbeat pop-inspired stuff.
Love the vocal melody, it has a real yearning feeling to it, totally complements the backing track. Hooks aplenty, but sad and lonely ones, a million miles away from Stock, Aitken and Waterman. Great voice as always. I'm wondering if the wardrobe is a better acoustic environment than the car?
It might be interesting to hear what you sound like through a condenser microphone - if you ever want to record in my front room in South London with a "real" microphone you are welcome. To be honest it might not make that much difference, since you've got a great voice anyway.
Anyway, great song, a real pleasure to listen to. Can't wait to hear what you both do next, but if you keep collaborating it could be very interesting indeed.
Thanks @Halftone.. Industrial is the word I was looking for. Cheers
Glad you like @LostBoy85. Will put all the Nave patches I made up for download at some point soon.
Thanks @rkmonkey.. I ran out of Cubasis tracks so I couldn't record to audio the 3 Nano midi tracks. Midi trk 1 being the beat.
Thanks for your patience in watching and listening @richardyot.. I made this for the Nave competition. So every sound you hear, is from Nave.. Even the drums. The vid is to show that it is just iPad and nothing else (old iPad2 at that). The track is in G harmonic minor which to me has that spooky horror film feel.. Thanks again
@LostBoy85 very well done, great tune. I'm quite amazed. The wardrobe trick has done well, I was beginning to wonder what mic? Then quickly remembered. Some nice drum fills in there too. Great track cheers.
@LostBoy85 I keep listening. F&@k dude. Here I go again. Sick vocals. @Marcel tunes always get to me. Radiohead vibe + everything else I love. I think this is the best new tune I have heard anywhere this year. It is even better on the 11th listen. I might update at 25 or so.
@JohnnyGoodyear update headline. Fans demand album (and explanation)
@RUncELL tricks + vocal cords + soul!!!
Fuck it. Here goes. My entry. Song is based on the cover photo I took from a cab on the way to an airport early one Sunday morning. Will be working on vocals and mix but here is the song instead of a thousand insecure apologies.
Wow!! Thanks very much guys.I'm Sooo happy you like the song!:D Ive never done the collab thing before and I have to say it was thoroughly enjoyable,it's nice to have someone to bounce ideas off of.
If anyone ever fancies writing a song,or needs a singer/help with a melody, I would be very happy to help out if I can.As I said to Marcel,if it doesn't work then hey, no one needs to know about it,but it's a good experience trying at least:D

It was 1975. Amanda's back bedroom. My words exactly.
@rkmonkey Fuck yeah!!! Well done mate,seriously...it takes balls to post your first track so good on ya! Ok,so it's a bit rough around the edges mix wise (which I know u said ur gonna work on) but in terms of structure,singing,lyrics,sounds and sheer raw bloody energy I honestly loved it!! Great job! Really cool guitar playing mate! "Biiiittttteeer Staaaaammmp!":D
Thanks man. I needed to get it out before I tabled it forever. Used ear bud mic just because. Cheers!
Really good song there @rkmonkey. Enjoyed. It just needs tightening up with a mix.. For some reason your vocals remind me of the 80's. Arrangement works good, well played.
@rkmonkey Good first effort Mister Monkey. Room for further sprucing, but that's true for all of us most of the time. Getting into the pool is always hardest part!
Thanks. Mix is muddy and will work on it in time.
Thanks man. Been having a hard time going from ideas to songs. I tend to put down the tracks, do a little work and then leave it to rot without a proper mix or mastering.
Hi, guys! Here is my latest work:
This track was made entirely on iPad Air 2 with iOS apps and three pairs of headphones:
Korg Gadget - all sound sources and arrangement;
AudioShare - audio files management;
Cubasis - mixing and audio processing;
Final Touch - mastering;
Headphones:
Audio-Technica ATH-M50;
Sennheiser HD 598;
Earpods.
@myoss nice work. Huge pick me up on this lazy afternoon. What do you do in cubasis versus final touch?
Thanks, it was a bit struggling especially after working for several years on desktop DAWs, but I like the result.
I exported single tracks from gadget to audioshare, then imported them into cubasis. Cubasis was used for additional effects, mixing and some automation. After that single mixdown with no limiting was imported in final touch for mastering (if I may call it so). Additionally I used final touch as spectrum analyzer on master channel in cubasis - quite handy during mixing process.
I think final touch can be used to process stems separately, I also plan to use master record app to add tape effects to stems.
@myoss: Wow, I like the wobbling/morphing sections, they provide a lot of excitement to the song! Which Gadget synths did you use for those?
I wonder whether the decay of the lead synth during the verses is a bit too short, or maybe some reverb could be used on it? As is, it provides a sense of urgency (which makes sense), but maybe the sound could be made slightly softer?
@badmaxton: thanks) sub bass is from Dublin and all mid bass parts are from Chicago. I was quite surprised how many cool sounds Chicago can produce - just crank up resonance, distortion and play with envelopes in gate mode. Lead synth is from Miami, unfortunately it doesn't have any envelopes, so I used saw-lfo to emulate it, that's the reason why it sounds a bit choppy.
@rmonkey I think there is a good song there, albeit hampered by some technical issues. The mix is pretty muddy, I think the guitar tone could be improved, and I can't hear much bass in the mix (either from the kick drum or from a bass instrument).
The biggest problem for me though is the drums, they seem to go to half-time in some sections and it's quite jarring and loses the groove.
But the vocal melody is good, the guitar riff that comes after the verses is really excellent, and overall the vocals are good (they go out of tune on the "bitter stamps" refrain at the end though).
I think if you spent some more time re-working the problem areas you would probably end up with a pretty good song, it just needs some polish because the fundamentals are there. The guitar riff and the guitar solo are really great.
@myoss it took me a few listens to get into that one, my first impressions were that there wasn't much going on, but on repeated listens I started to appreciate some of the more subtle sounds in the background and the structure and evolution of the track.
I like the synth riffs and the wobble bass, and the production is good as well. It could maybe be a bit more exciting and varied, but I think overall it's a good track.
