Mmhh, so can someone make a test how far an iPad Pro can go here! PLEASE!!! o:)

I agree! PLEASE, someone, indulge yourself and show off as much as you like, we want to see you in your full and glorious power etc :)

I would like to know as well ....

  • ... because the dual timeline/loop launcher and the ease of moving back and forth between them is really quite amazing (and will get on my list of reasons to get an iPad Pro)

Working nicely on Air 2 here.

On my 6S plus too! I used it first time and it's nice to add some ryhtmic background. Would really dig that in Logic too!

  • My attempts to crash GarageBand again failed despite extensive attempts to do so.

  • You've must have been at a point where you were really low on available ram.

  • @Tones4Christ No, it wasn't a ram issue although it may have been a side effect of one. My song file became corrupted. Created other songs since then with a lot more tracks and no issues. I could launch other apps no problem. If I shutdown or reset the iPad, GarageBand would still crash when I tried to load the corrupted song file. Hitting reset allowed GarageBand to open up since it prevented the app from opening up the last song which was the corrupted one.

You should write Rolf from Tempo Rubato and NOT Arturia about that!He did the port (and Nave or Nlog) and he is doing a great job if it comes to support.

Thanks for that, I had no idea. I have now e-mailed him. Lets see what he comes back with.

  • I sent Rolf a message also

  • So, another question.... how many instances of iSem are possible?

Depends on what patches used. Some are more processor hogs than others.

I mean because there was ram limit with AU or?

  • I have done 7 full tracks of SEM AU in GarageBand. The music is getting very cluttered; but nothing is dropping out on my iPad Pro. I am sure I could do more.

  • Ok, I was interested myself so I tried. When I started to record with the 8th instance of iSem, I got a message about optimising but it carried on recording and playing OK. I got up to 10 and it was working well but when trying to add the 11th, GarageBand froze and I had to abort. My issue now is that every time I try to open GB, it tries to load that song and continues to freeze, so any help on this welcomed!

  • If all else fails, go to settings and reset GarageBand.

Great thanks, that worked. I don't think I'll try more than 8 again! I should have mentioned that I am using an iPad Pro.

  • Found a way to bounce quicker. Exit to projects, share to iTunes and then you'll see a notification on the loops icon. You can drag the song as a loop in the project.

These are the kinds of posts that deserve a 'Like' Button :D

The 'Merge' feature is pretty neat too as a quick way to render midi-notes to audio, but it does create a new project. Would have loved to se an option to 'Convert/Copy to new Audio-Track'.

Garageband is not perfect but it's fun to use, I do like the FX automatisation and the Bass/Guitar touch instruments, so fun to jam with :D

You should be using an iPad2 like I am. Basically, fuck all works, so you would never get into a mess like that.

I was using an iPad2 up until a month or so ago so I can share your pain. The difference upgrading to the Pro is amazing!

  • I just started to play with it a little longer now....is there a way the FX (like the filter, repeater etc...) apply only on certain tracks or is it only on the master output?

  • I have an issue with a project i started last night in the updated garageband, 4 instances of isem, drummer track and a bass track.
    I pad air 2 128gb

Playing it back this morning the playhead freezes then jumps and stutters, the whole recording will freeze and then start playing haphazardly .

Have reset garageband but it makes no difference, all other previously recorded projects work fine.

    Any ideas?

  • wow, pretty neat that pressing the"import from icloud drive " (which i still don't use, just the "normal"icloud) opens Audioshare straight away oO

But a big disappointment that there is still no Midi for IAA instruments oO
I also tried funkbox which was running fine and in sync but the timing was off after i recorded it.

  • When seem its a great update , its not.

Let's see. I want to record a loop that im playing alive direct to a cell on GB from gadget, for example.

-I have to start GB run to IApp menu, click n gadget and start to play.
but GB metronme is just 4 beats unadjustable.if your music is faster than 80 bpm you cant do this triple touch operation in time

-Some instruments dont show audiobus bar on side when you use then with new garage band.

-If you try to record direct on cell from an instrument on audiobus that shows GB record button.... When in cell the metronme acts irresponsively. So you can record only on track mode,

-Like GB has no sync , even when you are recording from another instrument and metronome acts correctly , on track mode , surely, you have to start on the head of the head or GB eats a microbit of the first note

For me those looks like very simple things:

A metronme that i can adjust if i want. 2 bars or 4 bars precount.(is it to difficult , apple heads?)
A recording that starts on the head ( ableton link , mr apple guys)
    A fair implementation with audiobus.
lots of styles on smart instruments (its just midi , isnt it)
A virtual keyboard to control iaa instruments ( iaa like generators AND midi instruments too)

The loopy thing is very nice if it worked flawlessly

Apple treats ipad musicians like children that want a toy to play music so gb is in truth a wannabe music app.
I really prefer if they ask 50 bucks for it but put it at least to concurs with cubasis and auria, just to mention these ones

Another thing to end my whining:

Is it my impression or audio recorded from alchemy, and launchpad via audiobus on GB track or imported via audiocopy seems a bit dirty in comparision with an apple loop imported direct from the software or a midi did on it?

In time, im on ipad air 2 64 gb ios 9.21

    Best regards from Brazil, ipaders

If it had Link and AB in input slot @ 3 times the price it would be a must have

  • so i've thrown together a quick track and filled up a bunch of the live loop pads - but I'm not sure how to record my live loops performance. Anyone know how to do this? Like I want to press the columns to trigger groups of loops and then turn some of the pads on and off and use the DJ FX pads a bit - how do I get that recorded into a track?

  • The one, solitary track I had languishing in Garageband has a new drummer named Kyle. That plus a bit of automation and it has risen anew!

So, all good here. Not a frequent Garageband user, but it definitely got more useful for me which beats the pants off the alternative B)

seriously ... just hit the record button
it will put what you play on the grid onto your timeline
