An offer I can't refuse. What's a harpsichord? North, South?
@MonzoPro
I'm in the middle with all the sheep.
I've just bought Phonem, so I'm hoping to sneak a few ba/aas into this months track
The American Phenomenon that is Donald Trump is in Austin speaking tonight and I have sent along a friend with strict instructions to record all the found sound he can manage. Must be good for something...
Excellent. This will be fun. I will make some recordings of East Manchester cheers next time at the Etihad.......or some snuffling sounds from the other side of town mid Sep.
Seriously though, there should be some diamonds in amongst his chat tonight & it will provide some tasty nibbles to bend, twist & mangle. Good shout sir.
Racial slurs and wheezy resentments?
I may agree with your estimation of the donut sir, but I am not biting
We went to watch Jeremy Corbyn give a speech, during a band rehearsal liquid lunch break a couple of weeks back. I cheered.
@MonzoPro Report back was that it was a fairly dull affair. Lots of sixties Stones music apparently. Old white men. I think it's a little like car racing, even supporters were disappointed that he stayed on prompter and there wasn't a wreck.
In other news I just spent something more than two hours writing four lines. The lyrics took me ten minutes (for the whole song), but the music (four chords, followed by four more chords three of which were the same as the first four) was endlessly long-winded. I decided to bring some discipline to the process. Horrible. I'm amazed you guys don't kill yourselves.
Thank you. Inspired. The ones I know, Cathy & Chris, don't want to runaway......& as for porch dampness..... Dehumidifier set to high. Cheers.
I wish there were sufficiently few here that we could even consider naming them...
Hi there !
Long time I haven't been here...I've been busy by completely reorganising my workflow.
So no more Cubasis, just Modstep, and everything live...
Then I'll work on "edit" version using Cubasis...
I'll listen to all your tracks, and post my feedback, sorry by advance, it will be a bit expeditive...
Still buggy and needs improvements, but hey, that's live numeric music
Welcome back. Will have a thorough listen later but from the visuals - what a set up you have. Love the shorts, dancing & particularly the mask. The Feds ripped the one I had from my face as I exited Barclays the other day......
How to be hated by everyone here in one post...I'm just sincere and giving an honest review, keep that in mind, please...
@Halftone nice beat, nice prod, sounds a bit unfinished, maybe soe more variations ?
@LostBoy85 hmm...Love it and hate it...Love the prod, the clean sound, your type of voice, but the lyrics...come on...I'm not 15 anymore, neither do you ! But the bass, man, it sounds great ! Very clubby...
@AlexB well...Not my cup of tea, but it's well done, voice a bit overmixed to me.
@theconnactic I'm still not crazy about guitar heroes...At 1:40 the saturated guitar is way too loud...But it's well done, you're a very good guitarist !
@JohnnyGoodyear nice melody, nice production, not too much my cup of tea...
@Igneous1 I really like the production and sound, it miss a real structure to me, maybe lyrics ?
@perestroika like the ambiance, but, not as original I think it should be.
@Snekula well...hmm...I'm not crazy about crows...Nice sound design, but it's not a "proper" track to me. Maybe a verse and a chorus to make it pop ?
@fauxen well..I hate football...That said, nice sound design, not a proper track so not much to say...
@orchardman soft ballad, not very original, nicely recorded, the voice is a bit overmixed to me.
@jbvdb nice one ! Ramstein powa A bit messy, and not too much structure, too bad, cos you've got a nice riff here.
@studs1966 well, needs polishing, the idea is nice, need more work to make it great. (not in time sync mainly...) But it's fresh
@raindro hmm like this one ! Short but consistent, nice timbre, too bad, the end is bit abrupt...
@richardyot like the Cure style, a bit messy sometimes too bad, but really like this one.
@trackedout like also this one, but I'm hearing some numeric saturation and artefacts...Too bad !
@JeffChasteen oldschool Velvet underground ambiance, well...
@AlexB hmm...The mixing is awfull, too bad cos the voice and instruments are not bad...
@oddSTAR chillout nice track, easy, like it...
@marliess not bad...Nice production, could be cool to see live
Okay, enough for the moment...
Glad to see you are keeping you face warm! Lol
Kidding aside that's super cool!
Could you do a rundown of your setup for us?
I see modstep on one iPad, what's running on the pro in the back?
And you got a bcr 2000 and mini Nova, what else?
Is that a mackie mixer in the back? And what's the touchpad looking thing next to it?Appease the gear nerd in me!
It's evolving but mainly, for this track I used:
I have other stuffs, but not used here yet...
I run 3 Modstep instance, one on each iPad

No hate from me.
It was indeed a Velvet pastiche. I tried to stuff in as many elements as possible: timpani/tambourine combo, viola, repetitive minimalist piano...hell, I even used ostrich guitar!
Thanks!
No hate at all from me geezer. Everyone is entitled to there option. Fair play to you. Infact,. you managed to listened to a lot of music here & then made comments. Bravo! To you Sir.
Thanks for your comments. Mainly interested into your comment about the bad mixing. What do you find is over or under the right volume/ panning? I mean I would love to improve but for that I would surely appreciate some more guidance!
Thanks!
@AlexB Ok I must admit that I've listen to the Mac Book Air speakers, with hear plug, it's an other story...
But that still tells me this:
The voice is too loud, then everything is in the medium, there's no bass at all.
So when the cymbals are coming, it's just a big fog.
Solo guitar enters too loud.
We can't hear the kick nor the bass that supposed to "carry" the sound.
I guess bass+drums needs a proper compression.
The voice is way to clean (personal taste) I would have distorted it a bit.
Choirs has no consistence (in the mix)
That said, the band is in tone, drummer is in place (real drummer ?) , the voice should be included, not over everything.
Hope that will give you some good infos
Hi,
Take note of your comments but even I believe the speakers of the Air are not too representative (I will not use it as a full excuse) somehow I realized my mix probably was missing some of the lower frequencies. I could only make the mix on the headphones so could not do a proper monitoring but still in a headphone set sounded quite ok ( but not so well in my earplugs).
I will review it now that i am back from my holidays to improve the mix.
Thanks for your detailed comments!!!
I forgot to mention, the drummer was made with Drum Perfect Pro, so no real drummer!

@crony that's a load of expensive gear to be making dull plodding dance music on however l love the shorts
@orchardman glad you enjoyed the shorts
Clock's ticking....
@crony 3 iPad Pro's! Fair play oh masked one. Glancing around your rammed with goodies studio, the only thing that looks similar to my den of distortion is the skirting boards! Mine with Roland rat arch holes. 2 mics as well to spit blood into. What is the app you are euphorically jigging to at 7 mins with the blue screen & orange cross? Looks fun. Was the levelling of hands moment at 9.10 part of your dance. Reminded me of confused aircraft marshalling at Camp Bastion. Cool.
I've listened a few times now to soak up & appreciate what you're doing here. It's all way above my understanding but the music that results from your dexterity is nifty. I like it. Incessant, dancy groove with wonderful sounds throughout. We can witness just how much you're enjoying this live performance. Highlighted by your enthusiasm for the craft. Demonstrates what can be achieved with knowledge & talent. Yep, she's a long un but I get it......oooh er missus. My felicitations to you. Easily danceable. Marvellous.
The emperor's tailor is going to be soooo mad at you.
@Bluepunk thanks for all your kind words
So to answer your questions : around 7:00 I'm using Arpeggionome, a fantastic arpegiator. It drives DRC synth and also play his internal sound at the same time. I need to practice more, but yeah it's good fun to play with ! (I'm also pleased to finally having something that works all together...I've been working on this for months...)
Around 9:00 yeah I'm literally seeing the track crashing... Well, fortunate it's just music...
But the good news is I've made some improvements with the stability yesterday, and also learned a few tricks to play more live.
All this is a kind of super controller instrument, I can add options on different level, and I've added a lot, I need to remember they're existing, and learn how to play with them...
For the next videos I'll try to be in sync with the image (it bored me to edit too much...I just add a filter with imovie) and also add a camera in the back to show more how I perform. I also try to have a better full view. (in fact I'm using a mic stand, with the iphone on top of it, and it's really on top of it, and it's difficult to get a nice angle...)
