GarageBand 2.3! New drummers, 24-bit, more
This looks sweet. It also adds Files support, so maybe collaboration on projects will be possible.

Maybe AU FX plugins won’t go silent now.

Nice to see files access must be first iOS daw to get it.
All they need to do now is fix the file hopping as I’m in it on GB now can’t get out of it!
• Includes iMessage sticker pack that adds GarageBand instrument icons
That's all I needed! SOLD!!!!
I was looking forward to midi edit of the drummer but not yet in this update. Stellar update though. The drum machine is a little sci-fi and colorful. No more annoying pop up of having to anaylyze the project. New store so hopefully more patches will come out for alchemy. And the sampler is still the same.
Fuck me, this is huge! There’s a whole store of free sound packs. I’m just checking out the new guitar amps and effects.
Super giddy about this update. > @stormywaterz said:
Actually some of the packs in the new store contain new Alchemy patches.
Update season in full effect, updates falling like autumn leaves
I got those already but with the store more patches can added and not have to wait for updates is what I meant.
Yes indeed. I wouldn’t even mind paid patches.
Wow! Christmas came early this year
Now if beatmaker 3 can be an au all would be right in the world just to get there sampler into GarageBand.
The rest of the update looks pretty awesome though. I like those Asian instruments, looking forward to try the new ones. New Drummers with percussion sounds good to me. And new 24-bit file export!
I just crapped not only my own pants but those of others around me.
Sure would be nice if they included the Alchemy IAPs we ALREADY frickin' purchased as downloads. C'mon Apple, give us a break.
Is it iOS 11 only?
Apple just added a bunch of au effects also. So can we take patches from logic alchemy and use files app and insert here into GarageBand?
In the piano now it has presets for au. Just used oriental strings and picked my presets right from with out having to jump apps. That’s pretty nice.
Using Noise AU inside GB you now get access to the macros.
Garageband can now export *.wav in addition to *.aiff and export directly to any folder visible to files.app
(Ie. I can dump the *.wav export directly into any folder inside BM3. The BM3 3.0.4 update will be pretty sweet).
GB is the DAW/groovebox I install/delete the most. I just can't get comfortable with it's UI, but things like the Drummer & File sharing etc make it a gimme reinstall. Curious to see what all of these sound packs entail.
24 bit?? I've soiled myself.
How do you assign AU macros in GB is it possible or are you stuck with what is shown?
Would love to be wrong but I can't see this happening
I have heard tales from windows users that invested several hundreds into Alchemy and lost the installer file. All that cash disappeared into thin air and there is nothing that can be done.
I was hoping I would be able to move/drag my own bounced audio clips from GarageBand to Files or BM3. So far I haven’t figured out how... may not be possible?
When BM3 3.0.4 drops you will be able to export/bounce a GB session as a *.wav directly to the BM3 folder-structure... (iOS11 required though).
Not for ipad 4?
Even on newer iPads the GarageBand updates are less generous. Only people with quite recent devices got Alchemy 2 in the last big update
The app store is showing me the new GB if I search for it, but just has open and not update on the button. Maybe it just needs time. I hope you can select more effects for the built-in guitar, it has always bugged me that there are lots of options for real guitar players but the built-in guitar has always had severely limited options.
I think I know how to do the whole sesh, drag and dropping individual audio clips is what what I’m after.
I guess I could record the audio clip into the timeline and export that, but with files and drag and drop a more convenient way would make sense...
For me, I just prepare everything in the GB session and export the result as *.wav
This is the way I work with most other apps too. I seldom 'record live'.
GB doesn't seem to support drag-n-drop from the timeline to other apps.
It does support drag to the timeline from the Files.app.
