I understand off topic posts about pets, musicians who have died, news paper articles about Brian Eno, baking cakes, tap dancing etc, but a political topic like the death penalty or abortion or Trump is only going to start a shit fight.
And framing the reintroduction of the death penalty as proof that the US is "just another 3rd world country" only adds fuel to the fire.
If you really object to the law why not lobby somewhere where it will make a difference?

The best argument I heard against the death penalty came from an episode of ‘Bullshit!’ (Penn and Teller). Can’t find a link but in a nutshell I think Penn’s conclusion made sense in saying that a government should not have the right to kill it’s own citizens. Some of the worst atrocities over the last hundred years were clearly made by governments killing their own people and if we simply take that off the board completely, yadda yadda, but yah that Onion video made some good points too. Conflicted.
