You can check out a subset of half of these effects if you have their Syntronic product.
There you can stack up to 5 effects on each of the (up to 4) synthesizer tracks in the presets.

    Good one.
They indeed look to be the same.

  • Looks solid... That price though. :#

I understand you get a lot of modules, but people can already buy a ton of great AU effects for iOS, and not be forced to buy 70 at once. :|

FWIW, I am running 3 instances of the MixBox plugin with a total of 14 fx and AUM is only at 34% with the 3 Instances of Gauss generating the audio being fed in to the effects chains.

That's pretty amazing in my book.

Could you please share your iPad model / CPU and buffer settings for the above mentioned test?

    iPad Pro 2018 model:

  • Bought it, sounds great, runs great on my 2020 IPad Pro, also installed it on my Air2, can’t say I’d recommend it for Air2 users if you want a lot of instances unless you’re using an IPad Daw that freezes tracks. Basically it’s going to come down to what and how many effects you use in the racks.
So I tried to push it a little on my IPad Pro, using all the instruments and instances of Mixbox ( included in the screen shots, sorry if it’s too many ) and got up to 61% cpu usage, driving all the tracks with LKs matrix. I have to say I’m pretty impressed as I used a bunch of presets that had a lot of things going on. I wouldn’t use a ton of modules when really mixing a track , just what I think the track calls for. The buffer size was set at 1024. It got up to around 69 to 70% with the buffer size set to 512.

Uh...you're Clipping there my friend

Yeah, it's pretty CPU efficient...so far am a happy camper...$40 seems like a steal for all of this.

    What about iPhone users?

Don’t we deserve equal rights and nice things?

Why do iOS users have to sit and recreate all of these things with Drambo, while the iPadOS crowd have access to everything instantly?

    Weren’t we here first?

    Yeah.

I used to use the T-racks 1176 as a replacement for the real thing, it is that good.

The thing I really like about this Effects Suite is the apparent Completeness of it. It seems like everything I might need for my day to day musical needs is in there...and since it sounds great, and is so CPU efficient so far...I really can't complain.

I have 5 Busses running the MixBox effects with anywhere from 4-8 fx per Rack...and my iPad Pro 2018 is not batting an eye...

I'm having some experimental fun with it now...so glad it's auV3 format out the gate...nice work @ikmultimedia

    Yes, yes, very clever...thank you...

  • Looks good. I like the idea of my effects in one easily accessible rack.

Is there any exposed parameters for midi control in AUM?

It looks like it's all exposed, per Slot per available Parameter:

    Well, I’m weak, bought it...

I see something which could be a bug, can you tell me owners if you meet the same issue : load preamp and tell me if you can change the type and turn the gain knob ? Volume knob looks ok.
Here it’s AUM but I have the same problem with my DAW.
    iPad Air 3, iPadOS 13.6

I'm mixed about the CPU load, it's not light compared to some classics DDMF/FF.
    But it sounds really good.

Yup...I experience the same bug on iPadOS 14.2 @ikmultimedia

  • As I sit here, playing with MixBox, I can't help but feel that this will quickly become one of those "quality of life" essential apps we will all benefit from using when trying to Master our Tracks on iPadOS. I think @ikmultimedia made the right decision to bring this to the platform and make it auV3 out the gate.

The simple fact that it's all integrated into a unified RACK system just makes it a no-brainer to use. I hope they will provide some Mastering Presets in the Future to make it easier for users to get great sounding tracks out of the app...but that being said...having the ability to save our own Preset Racks it just too cool...and guess what...we can also Share these Presets!

Really fantastic port to iPadOS IK Team! You have a very happy customer here!

  • @echoopera thanks for clarifying.

  • I’m very impressed so far.
It’s not bad on CPU, good features/workflow, some nice sounding fx, AU param automation, sidechaining... It’s been years since my last IKMm purchase. :)
    Thanks!

  • How do these effects compare to, say, eventide?

But it can be interesting for some to have a all-in-one.

Also kind of handy to be able to save a chain, compared to individual AUs.

  • Okay just saw where this is $300 for desktop, so the iOS price is kind of understandable. It seems roughly in line with other desktop to iOS conversions.

It can be a lot of work (thus expense) to adapt a user interface to something practical for the size of a phone, especially when taking something designed for the desktop down to that level. Apple doesn't make it any easier by constantly adding different sizes and aspect ratios, "the notch", etc.

It's understandably frustrating for iPhone only people, but it's not about "rights", it's about trying to run a business profitably.

First of all that app looks really good! Are these licensed emulations of famous gear or approximations? Looks like the app itself is feature rich, but what is it offering that can’t be found in iFX Rack (which can load IRs) or by assembling the best single fx we already own. Is there competition for this suite? Only playing devil’s advocate because it’s really appealing even at $40.

  • It'd be cool to see a 'lite' version that only had 25 or so of the fx models and was cheaper .
After looking at the list gus posted i could see myself realistically using 25 of the 70

...but i guess with something like this you.re paying for the ability to have all those options ...

Thanks for using and enjoying MixBox! I double checked with our team to make sure and was correct - In the case of the gain knob, this is not a bug – it’s the behavior of those preamp types. The Preamp processor module contains 7 analog modeled preamps from tube guitar amps. Not all of the preamp models include variable gain control, which is the behavior of those amps. Because of this, the gain knob is greyed out. Check out Crunch, Lead 1, Lead 2, or Fuzz types for preamp models that have the gain control. The Clean, BritAC, and Mellow preamps are the fixed gain models. This is why you’d often see an EQ chain on these types of amplifiers, to further alter the color generated by these tubes.
