  • Yet another update that does precisely nothing. I don’t have any presets or anything saved but I still can’t access the full features. I’ve been defending IK for weeks in other places but this has gone on far too long, what an utter shitshow..

Have you contacted iK? What you are describing doesn't seem typical of what people have reported recently.

To clarify it all works in standalone but in AUM they’re all greyed out again. I thought this was the problem that most people were having tbh

  • 1.3.3 appears to be working in Cubasis, there are now 2 x “MixBox” in the list of AUv3

    Working ok here.
The 'other one' MixBox (Music Effect AU) is used when midi-input or midi-control is needed in addition to AUParameter control.

What does "they're all greyed out again" mean? Have you rebooted since installing the update?

  • Geez, what a disaster. I has just purchased it on Black Friday and neglected to update the app. Probably the only time in my entire life that being a procrastinator actually played to my advantage.

I feel horrible for all of you who depended on this app for so much only to have some corporate marketing decision destroy your creative works and leave you app-less for weeks. I’m definitely not going to update this or any other IK app until it has received the Audiobus Forum Seal Of Approval.

    Version 1.3.3 is out:

So it sounds like they reverted to the original plugin ID?

I hope so. Even with this update I’ll wait another couple of weeks for feedback.

On first glance old saved patches appear to be loading in the app which is now also loading.

Maybe time to update to 3 stars instead of my 1 star review. 🤔

In the other thread someone confirmed old projects now load fine again, so yes they reverted the plugin id. Great!

I think they added the other plug-in ID (so now there are two…it’s probably the new MIDI input version

I was wondering - but the 2 looked identical as listed in Cubasis, though tbh I only made a very quick check…

    No worries,

Unfortunately Cubasis doesn't (yet?) show the difference between the different Audio Effect types.

Same goes for some of the Eventide AUv3's that support Midi Input as these also show up as duplicates in Cubasis and there are plenty of others...

  • Hopefully they go the way of KQDixie and have a "deprecated" AUv3 plugin that fix the issue. But yeah, there is no reason to update unless you want to lose all your old projects.

  • Double posted because I put a lot of effort into this...

I think this whole episode is a function of "scale" (as in company size). IK Multimedia is large enough to have a legal department and HR to control what employees are allowed to put in writing.

It would be interesting to sort our favorite apps by "development team" size. For anyone that worked in a company that produced software we know that the additional of "product managers" and marketing departments to the org chart creates a raft of unintended quality impacts that lead to "episodes" of this nature.

Channeling Aaron Sorkin, I'll guess at the IK Multimedia communications that created the incentives to "shoot the foot off" of the product.

Product Manager: "What can we do to get MixBox CS IOS revenues up next quarter?"

Marketing: "We have had good luck with the "Custom Shop" model with new in app purchases in the store."

Product Manager: "True... I was PM on the historic SampleTank app that put IOS on the map. Development lead... implement an IN APP strategy with the FREE download model. Can we get that done in Q4 and hit our bonuses based on download numbers?"

Development Lead: "Sure. The team would like to hit those bonuses and save the year's income targets. Otherwise I could loose some of the better coders."

    Later...

Product Manager: "Congratulations to all on hitting our download target. Look forward to a group party after the New Year."

Development Lead to coding team: "Sorry, guys. As you know we will have to work through the traditional holiday shut down to repair MixBox CS and learn from this experience that skipping beta testing for bonuses can have unintended consequences."

If that legendary passive aggressive response at the beginning (the one that accused us, their paying customers, of wanting things to go wrong) was vetted by legal or HR, I'll be very surprised. 🤷

I know I'm lawyering up for a massive emotional distress lawsuit. I'm so traumatized by that horrific post that I'm having difficulty focusing on the effort though. If anyone knows of a killer legal team willing to work pro-bono, please point them my way.

I’m glad it happened at least so I can confirm that I’ll never spend a dime on their products again

Probably safer to stick to facts, not fiction.

  • Updated and its still doing this in BM3 so I’d still hold off

  • @IK_Multimedia App is great, could really use MIDI CC for the dry/wet signals though. Would be really nice to be able to fade in/out individual modules via MIDI CC control.

This old AUM project opened properly with latest update. I had to do the update two times on AppStore, I don’t know why. First time I had missing icon, second time was ok. Perhaps your issue @YZJustDatGuy?

I will save IPA file ASAP.

BTW how do you import Jakob Haq presets package?

The Jakob Haq presets should be available in your account at the IK Multimedia web site online.

Yes I downloaded them but there is no Mixbox folder in Files to place them. Mixbox don’t allow to import. Perhaps via iTunes? I have to try that.

Yea I went back into the App Store and it had an update again and now things are working for me again.

Imagine the lawyer seeing after it was posted... someone might have a meeting with HR.
Anyway... I do believe a smaller shop wouldn't have bundled it like this but in a larger shop with distributed decision making and incentives based upon job description these things get pushed out without enough thought.

Probably safer to stick to facts, not fiction.

If you have ever worked for a software company with a large org chart you might appreciate the fact that a product manager cares about downloads (tied to revenues) and a programming team gets orders from product management and have to find a way to achieve the objectives or find another place to work. A team lead could have incentives around timely delivery of new features. Taken in the "large" these are facts. We never get
full disclosure on how these major customer satisfaction debacles are pushed in the the store as an update. But we'd love to know but often "who screwed up" is the best kept secret. Inside and outside of the company. But someone would get blamed anyway and potentially fired but that creates yet a new incentive... don't take any risks.

People wonder how bad software is pushed out and sometimes it's just a function of changing something that was working and finding out the new version has issues. Oops.

So we make up imaginary IK staff characters and put soap opera dialog in their mouths to explain what happened with the app...

    To import MixBox presets
Don’t unzip the files.. just long-tap (on the zip file) and 'share' to MixBox..
