What they’ve done is make mixbix free with an unlock available for the full version

If you buy any of their hardware over €99 you can go to their website and unlock the full version. You get a choice of either the desktop or iOS version of mixbox.

I didn't see that. Even so I don't understand it. Can they give you a code instead? Did it really have to free or are there other ways to give you the product for free?

Also a bit confused by the offer. Any hardware over 99.99. So a lot of interface options that are right on 99.99. They don't qualify I guess.

Maybe buy don’t forget mixbox was €79.99 before going on sale. I think it’s a pretty good deal considering that previously you only ever got desktop software with hardware.

I don’t think they could practically give out codes. There’s a limit to how many codes are available to developers.

The AppStore doesn’t make this kind of thing easy which is why you never see iOS apps included for free with hardware (other than apps that are feee to start with) so this is a cool method — or would have been if they hadn’t stuffed it up so badly!

Thanks, I just learned a little more about the App store. I'm not questioning the value. Just the ambiguity or perhaps not of the number of products bang on the price you have to be over to qualify. I suppose it is pretty clear but given the mistakes they make and the things they say these 99.99 hardware items may well be included.

  • Sorry for asking again if this has been discussed (its a long thread).
I have updated Mixbox and then all the Mixbox presets are gone from AUM. Unfortunately, I did not save those presets inside Mixbox itself.
Is there any way to retrieve/recover those Mixbox presets in AUM?

Oooh. :'( As far as AUM is concerned the new MixBox is a different app from the old one.

    Try this:

    • Save an preset with the new app, giving it a recognizable name.
    • Check the files app \ > AUM > Audio Unit Presets. Under one of the sub folders there you should be able to find that preset. You can use the files app search function for this, or just sort by date to bring the most recently used folder to the top. This will be the current app's preset folder.
    • Now see if you can identify a folder that has the old Mixbox Presets. Hopefully it's still there.
    • If it is, be sure AUM is closed, then copy the presets from the old folder to the new one.

I don't know if that will work, but I think there's a chance.

But the moment I am trying to load them it is throwing an error message - "Could not load preset. Not loading preset for wrong component description. file:///"

  • Now is the time when good people/companies step up, admit mistakes and talk it out to resolve the issues and customer dissatisfaction. The rest put on their blinkers on and hide to avoid conflict. IK have always gone the second route.

There might still be a chance. If you're able to load those files into a text editor, at the bottom you will see a section that looks like this:

                    <key>manufacturer</key>
            <integer>1299148647</integer>
            <key>subtype</key>
            <integer>1831941496</integer>
            <key>type</key>
            <integer>1635085685</integer>
            <key>version</key>
            <integer>1</integer>
        </dict>

If you can make those numbers match the ones in the preset saved in the new version, then there's still a chance it might work. Otherwise I expect you're a victim of yet another side effect of them changing the plugin id.

(BTW, I don't have MixBox, so I can't test this. I'm just working on theory here.)

It might be possible @j_liljedahl may have some additional input?

Yes, that should work unless they changed something in their preset/state format.

I'm also wondering of such a text editor on iOS that doesn't care about the filename suffix.

You could move it into AudioShare, rename it to .txt, edit it and name it back:

If you have a computer, it's probably easier to move them there and do it in a real text editor.

If you copy the preset file into the file space of FE File Explorer Pro and tap on the file, it gives the option to open it as Text, and has a workable text editor. The file is an Apple plist in XML format BTW.

Textastic will open them if you open the app first then use it's internal browser to navigate to the files.

    OK here is the solution.

As @wim suggested follow that process and copy all the previous .aum_aupreset files to the new folder.
After that make these two changes in each .aum_aupreset file.

    Change #1:
At the top of the file under the tag change the value to the new folder name:
In my case old folder name was 496B6D6D4D69786261756678 and new folder name is 496B6D6D4D69786261756D66.

    Change #2:
At the bottom of the file under the key type tag change the old value to the new value.

After that, you will (a) see this preset (b) no error will come while loading the preset.

Yes, this is how I have already downloaded my local keyboard layout (Hungarian one), but I can access to my country specific letters only by tapping and holding the normal letters o, i, u, a or e to get the ö, ő, ó for example.
Now I tried to download the Swedish layout to check how it works, but I can see the Swedish letters on the keyboard, no need for the tap and hold trick. Seems Apple didn’t manage to implement the Hungarian layout 🙁
    Anyway, thanks for the tip.

  • How can we do now? No way to report the issue to Apple? That situation should not happen again. That’s too easy for @ikmultimedia to not even comment.

  • The lack of communications from @ikmultimedia @IK_Multimedia speaks volumes.

At this point it certainly looks like they have just moved on and left the problem with us to deal with.

Agreed. They are less likely to interact in a forum where they might be asked questions. Much easier to ignore issues or placate users when they come via the support system.

Well said. I am sure they will fix the problem, they have to really.
It's been a full 2 weeks by now so heading into week 3...
This was the last email I got from them:

"Thanks for your patience while we got back to you.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience. Our team is still working on this update. However, we should have more information next week on when it will be available."

It seems that IK is happy with it's 1.3.2 update… so, I don't think they will change anything more.
I've read (on IK forum I think?) that with iPadOS 15.2 + Mixbox 1.3.2 the standalone app can now be used fully without been connected to internet ; can someone confirm this ?
