I'm sure someone asked this and it was answered, but honestly this is the basically the new megathread of the forum and I can't keep up. My question is - will we be able to use Files to load our own samples and audio into Logic? Will there be folder functionality?
The $4.99 per month will help me from getting too many new apps.
Currently I spend max ~$15-20 on apps each month and with everything included I see less need to get additional apps.
We don't know yet, but it's highly likely that we'll be able to add our favorite folders in to the file-browser, just like on Logic for Mac.
Everyone will just get the free trial on 23rd, until then we can just 'guess'
Harsh but fair. 👌
Agree we need to wait to try it and understand, this is a shock today nobody was predicting that coming this 9 of May ( Belgium) .
Now the new game should be : what will do Ableton?
I have a feeling SuperBooth '23 will also reveal some mew stuff from the big ones.
The fair starts on May 11th.
+1 Richard. Some apps that try subs on iOS seem like a waste of money. I’m not going to name names. But getting Logic Pro on iPad for $50 a year seems like nothing, frankly.
This is true, and I'm jumping on that free trial once it's released. And only $4.99/month subscription? That's $1 cheaper than Auxy Studio, which is basically a children's toy compared to Logic Pro.
(Of course I could save $10/year by switching to annual, but given how my neurodiverse brain works, it's tough for me to keep up with annual expenses outside of paying taxes, lol. Easier for me to do a monthly routine.)
And one of my main beatmaking inspos on Youtube is this producer named Ocean. He uses Logic Pro.
And furthermore, Sascha Lappessen (of Sash!) uses (or used to use) Logic to produce their singles and albums.
I may have missed their responses, but I can't wait to read what brilliant Youtuber @ipadbeatmaking as well as legendary @thesoundtestroom make of this! 😃
No iPhone version then, come on Apple 😁
FYI there is an app call "Mactracker" available for both MacOS and iOS, and it's basically a database with detailed specs of just about every product Apple has shipped. Invaluable reference for figuring out CPU/memory specs on older iOS devices.
A nifty way of going for the Logic subscription is if you have an Apple TV sub - you can just alternate between the two on a monthly or bimonthly basis, without having to pay more to Big Apple than you're paying already. 😉
I don’t find any of their subscription services out of line with what they deliver.
O M F G!!! FINALLY
Dude, 50$ / year sounds a lot, but... it's LOGIC bro. And it looks like it's 1:1 with the desktop version + more... not a neutered version.
Also... you get a shit ton of updated content. So yeah... it's pennies actually.
And it is still clickbait! 🤣
To all those angry at the subscription , would you pay £200 in one go for an iOS app? £4 a month is cheap honestly . However, what Apple could have done is made it sub to own. So let’s say price is £200 you pay monthly. And also an additional option to purchase once. But then again. Will people really pay £200 in one go for an iPad app??
That would be a condition for my sub sharing idea, too, otherwise why would one go for it at all.
It’s that rare phenomenon - clickbait that is clickbait but also not just clickbait, if that makes any sense 🤔
imagine you look back in 2033 and realise you payed $500 to apple for using it .. at least, most probably a LOT more cause i guess they will periodically increase subs price once per 2-3 years to count with inflation …
subs is trap, they can anytime increase price and you will do shit about it, you will be forced to pay otherwise you loose access to your projects
people here usualky swear when they loose access to $10 app after 10-12 years - looking forward how they will swear when, after 2-3 years and payed total $150 in subs apple decides to increase price from 3.99/m to let’s say 9.99/m or 19.99/m 😂
💩
Apple offers their software as a loss leader to add value to their entire ecosystem. $4.99/month or $49.99/year is just incremental revenue for them, but it’s an unbeatable value for musicians and producers compared to their competition.
There are probably people on this forum who remember paying $999 for Logic Studio 20 years ago. And that was for a far less capable product. So, the way you put it, $500 for 10 years? That's a bargain.
Now if you all told me Nanostudio audio tracks would be subscription based, I say take my money Blip!!!
As a long-time desktop Logic user, let me reassure you that it is absolutely possible to not ever complete projects in it. Takes a bit of practice at first, true, but then it becomes second nature. Don't lose hope just yet. 👊
Yes i would pay for LPX on iPad 200 without hesitation. Even 300..
Got that right. I paid full price for Final Cut Studio back in the day and it was worth it at the time. Also used to pay full fare for Adobe software suite.
Or pay a monthly sub and just mix them all down to audio. I’d prefer a one-off purchase too, but…
You don’t lose anything. The fact that there is a monthly sub is great. Forget about it, come back years later, get a one month sub, mix all your stuff down to audio. I strongly object to something like an FX app or a synth being subscription. But a great DAW with tons of instruments and fx built in, for $50 a year? I can’t object to that. Many here are spending far more per month on throwaway apps they’ll hardly use again after a quick flirtation.
And for you younger folks, back in 2003 you could buy a new car for $999! (okay, I might be exaggerating just a bit there)
True. A quick review of my own plugins reveals that I have dozens I've never used twice.
Maybe around $15,000-$20,000 for an "OK" car back then?
Ha! $500 is NOTHING to moan at…
I have spending $22000 buying Apple products the last ten years, so, 500 less or more doesn’t care me much…
Sure, I’m not that pleased concering subscription, but, a full fledged Logic Pro is something else though it has so so much to get you & I for 50 bucks a year…
I just looked it up, you could get a Toyota Tacoma for less than $13K in 2003. I paid... more than that... for my 2020 Taco. Cheapest new car in 2003 was a Kia that you could get for just under $10K.
