I presume all our existing AUv3 apps will work with this?

    Sure. Why wouldn’t they?

Will we have access to all cores, or is logic limited, too?

I do hope so. Also hope my 8gb M1 iPad Air 5 is up to the task.

Should be, not so sure about my Air 4 though…

I’m guessing they will be, it’ll be pretty amazing to have them all available if so.

Nothing wrong with this subscription based model. I assume/hope that it will be free for the MacOS Logic Pro owners?!

    Hope so/doubt it!!

  • And notice they are not saying these are limited versions of either Logic Pro or Final Cut Pro. The full versions of each. That is astounding.

Even if the product or pricing is not for me (I genuinely don't know yet), I am curious about the effect on the ecosystem: better reference support for plugins than GarageBand, enticing other desktop developers, prices, potential partition across device classes, etc.

I think the term ‘game changer’ is kinda appropriate here now.

  • Interesting how much GBs of space we have to prepare.

  • Really really doubt, it will be free for existing Logic/FC users. The apps are different based on the screenshots.

I anticipate there will be new things in store for GarageBand as well. Did you notice the playable guitar interface in the Logic Pro demo?

It’ll raise the profile for the iPad as a serious platform for music making, that’s for sure.

    Apparently so! (regarding AUv3)

This could be the inciting event which makes me finally consider getting new hardware…

Ah I hadn't watched it yet, nice :)

  • Amazing. It finally happened. $49 a year for a desktop Pro app. I’m in.

  • suscription means i won't even try it.
it means if you stop paying you lost your own songs. A joke!!

I'll stay with BitWig and Reaper, non-subscription 😅😅😅🤗🤗🤗

    iPad?
    No, thanks

Bitwig is subscription though. You pay per year to maintain updates.

the good news is : we will have tons of professional AUV3 soon

We’ll have to wait and see as it requires a Logic version that is not out yet for the round trip capability.
I might make an exeption to my no subs for this one…

But you can keep your old version and still play your songs?
I use loopy pro for all my songs much more innovative than Logic anyway.

No. You’d still have your songs. Your files are yours. Just pony up for a month or a full year subscription and then you’ll be able to use them again.

$5 a month or $49 a year is a bargain. Let’s not kid ourselves. Logic Pro on desktop is still $200. And even THAT is a bargain.

  • Well they could offer both the subscription and 1 time purchase models like some do.

  • Makes me kinda wonder how the Cubasis team is going to tackle this!?

How did you play your song if you don't have the soft anymore?

Well, people like what they like, but for anyone who used iPad Pro’s alternative DAWs because they couldn’t use Logic Pro, their prayers have been answered.

    Yep, me too.

I’ve been saving up for a couple of years, and on the fence between a bigger/better iPad, or hardware synths (e.g. Digitakt, second-hand OP-1). I’m currently jamming out tracks of audio on my Air 4, and then arranging them on the desktop.

So I’m now thinking a 12” iPad Pro, plus Logic, hosting the ridiculous amount of apps I’ve collected over the last decade would be a seriously, powerful combo.

It’s even made me consider a subscription!

I don’t think my Air 4 is supported, if it was though I’d be in too!

  • Finally this will open the floodgates for more desktop music apps I’m sure to leap over to iOS. No problem with subscription at that price a snitch. Look at Bitwig yearly prices $170 or there abouts for updates.

And I just realized something. Every single developer who was making their plug-ins compatible with iOS and desktop and charging more for the desktop version… that gravy train has just ended. The desktop plugin market has just taken a nuclear missile right in the gut.
