it means if you stop paying you lost your own songs. A joke!!

No. You’d still have your songs. Your files are yours. Just pony up for a month or a full year subscription and then you’ll be able to use them again.

$5 a month or $49 a year is a bargain. Let’s not kid ourselves. Logic Pro on desktop is still $200. And even THAT is a bargain.

How did you play your song if you don't have the soft anymore?

You render them to audio. So simple

  • I think I’m more excited about FCP than Logic in this case….

That is also huge news for pros. I can’t imagine what a Steven Soderberg or J.J. Abrams or John Favreau will do with this.

Has hell frozen over?? I’m losing it right now…

    Looks like it’s 4.99/mo or 49/yr subscription.

  • There are currently 4 or 5 threads on this.

  • Can’t see it anywhere but it would be great if it has Autosampler, much easier to take to my synths and sample them like that.

  • I imagine the greedy folk at Apple will soon be announcing the death of Garage Band, because it’s no longer necessary — just like they killed Alchemy after they purchased it and incorporated it into Logic Pro 🤨

Amazing. It finally happened. $49 a year for a desktop Pro app. I’m in.

I don’t think my Air 4 is supported, if it was though I’d be in too!

What makes you think he knows?

His Beat Community news site doesn't have anything about this release.

Anything can happen, but it seems unlikely given they're highlighting GarageBand import in the product page. Also, they've had both products on desktop for year precisely to cater to different classes of users.

  • Get 1 month free, then pay $4.99/month or $49 annually.*

I’ll pass on this, fuck subscription.

Yeah was just checking that, I was confused by the press release, as it listed supported devices as Pro only - but it seems that’s for Final Cut, Logic will work on an Air 4:“ Requires iPadOS 16.4 or later and an iPad with Apple A12 Bionic chip or later.”

Not sure how well it’ll run on my Air 4, and I’ll have to ditch a heck of a lot of stuff to make space, but will definitely be downloading the trial!

Final Cut Pro for iPad is available as a monthly subscription for just $4.99 or a yearly subscription for $49. You can activate a one-month free trial after installing Final Cut Pro for iPad from the App Store.

“Greedy”? Find anything comparable to their offerings from any other company on any platform. It just doesn’t exist.

Who says that you would lose your songs?

That seems unlikely. Far more likely, you just wouldn’t be able to run the software during months where you aren’t subscribed. And render your tracks to audio before unsubscribing if you need to hear them when unsubscribed.

  • What an earthquake....

  • Ableton Link is a nice surprise. I wonder if it will be able to deal with multiple audio interfaces?

    What an earthquake....

Absolutely massive. A 10.0 on the Richter Scale.

  • A regular DAW doesn't fit with my workflow (I have Cubasis 2 but haven't used it for years) but I might have bought Logic just for the heck of it but subscription? Nope, not gonna happen...

  • Well, I need a new iPad for this. My 2017 iPad Pro 10.5 inch isn't compatible.
