  • Well I'm glad it's finally coming for all those that want it. I can't see myself ever wanting to use this type of app regularly with my ipad instead of on a computer, the pain of an ipad single screen daw or video editor is too frustrating for me, especially with the slow file management compared to a computer. But I can see if you already use these apps on a Mac then it can be a useful mobile workflow addition. :)

Lumafusion and Davinci Resolve publishers will be happy I'm sure that Apple have decided on subscription since it allows an appealing alternative there from Final Cut.

Seriously? You can’t afford $5/month? I suspect if you’re like most here, you’re already spending more than that a week on plug-ins.

Ah, but he ends up with a folder full of different plug-ins, not a folder with only Logic in it.

Nothing wrong with this subscription based model.

Absolutely everything is wrong on subscription.

I assume/hope that it will be free for the MacOS Logic Pro owners?!

Don’t think so, it that would be the case they would already communicate it.

I’m generally anti-subscription, but this is a rare case where I’m going to strongly disagree. For the price, it represents a huge value and competitive advantage.

  • Honestly this makes ableton’s “ad to get you to buy the desktop version” look kinda dumb. We all knew most ipads were capable of more.
But yeah, now some real questions: native instruments, keyscape, Omnisphere, Valhalla, spitfire . . . Do they make a full parity port? Or a watered down version for iOS?

And what about MainStage? Is that coming too?

So, bye bye Cubasis… what else can I uninstall.

    Everything, except AUv3.

That’s an excellent question about MainStage.

  • 2023 is the year iPad went Pro for real.

Let’s make the platform proud now 😉

  • I'm not a huge fan of subscription, but if this is the only way Logic Pro was coming to iPad I'll happily pay £50/year to support development. I got a puncture the other day and had to shell out £150 for a new tyre - that's 3 years of Logic Pro use right there!

I agree with you - it is fair price and great value.

But I think there will be some Forum people who don't feel the need for it and, once the excitement has died down, will just stick with Cubasis, MultiTrack, AUM, GarageBand or whatever they use now.

  • Well, this opens the floodgates.. here comes FL Studio, Ableton Bitwig and a host of top of the line instruments and effects for iPad… welcome..

  • Patrick at “The GarageBand Guide” needs to change his name now!

  • I can afford $5 a month. I just dropped my Hulu account at the start of the year. That netted me $20 a month. Some of you probably pay for a subscription for other media. How many of you pay for a monthly internet plan? What about a cell phone plan? And then you scoff at a subscription to Logic Pro? Get over yourselves.

Funny thing is if we all banned Subscriptions we’d be living in the dark with no water or heat/ac nor be able to get anywhere in life

Life is a subscription model we all pay for daily and one which eventually lapses 🙏🏼💗

All true and every alternate DAW has just been put on notice that they need to seriously step up their game to stay relevant.

  • I think I've just found out my iPad Pro second gen isn't going to be supported :/

I hate subscriptions as much as the next person, but will pay $50 a year for this without even thinking twice.

Yeah, I’m usually totally anti-subscription, but this is just a ridiculous amount of kit for $49 per year. The fact that my existing AU purchases over the years are supported and won’t be made redundant, makes it a no-brainer.

Only problem might be how my poor old Air 4 copes with it!

What’s also great is that we now have a Pro DAW on the platform if we need it. If it’s not in someone’s pay model there’s always Cubasis which is also great.

And of course GarageBand which is free and amazing too.

We have so many amazing tools on this platform it’s crazy to think about it really.

No way - AUM ain’t going anywhere for me. For it’s speed and ease of use, I expect to keep using it a lot

    Yep.

    But my Air 3 is.

    LOL. Good for you. :)

Will need to confirm but I think this will push me to upgrade if true.

I’ll finally be able to use my favorite old synths and effects which never made the leap to desktop. Good grief, this is going to save me a ton of money, way offsetting the cost of a subscription.

Yeah, but it depends of the product. Utilities are different to consumer products. When I buy a bookcase or a kettle I don't want it to be sub.

I would get a sub to Logic but any other app? Not sure? AUM pehaps...

    Air4 seems to be supported…

  • Well, when I’m wrong I’m wrong. Didn’t think they’d do a subscription but here we are. Not particularly happy about it, but I will pay. I’ve wanted this software for a long time. Sorry Cubasis and Zenbeats, I think this marks the end of our dalliance.

When people start to realize the magnitude of what has just happened I think a lot will choose to go the same way.

  • These should be the earliest models that are supported for each device line:
