I have yet deleted on my IPad Air 4 NS2, Auria Pro, Gadget, BM3 keep GarageBand (useful perhaps with Logic) and Cubasis 3,5 .
Deleted all odd not useful for me apps like 4 pockets. Next step to delete all MPC 1 and MPC 2 and see what groove box I need. Nothing really deleted they go to the cloud so it is not the end of the world.
I should publish what I selected, I think also delete not very useful synth that don’t fit my music or overlapse with the best one I keep. It is more than a spring clean .
Although a clip launcher. Across ipads as a modular logic or host blend. Not sure it will work out. A timeline dosent really make sense across ipads but will see what its about.
( Checks system soon. To wonder why I kept buying stuff, just based on theories ) lol.
Yep. For editing. Iv got to hope/find a way to stop the music across ipads etc. Dosent help I added a 3rd ipad with no midi.
This were added to gain cpu but its kind of negated when adding brusfri.
Enbrace the hiss.
So question for people that are users of Logic: our version will probably be loaded with lotsa instruments and effects. If you had the full Logic on your iPad, what instrument and effect apps would you be able to delete because you’d now have better stuff inside Logic?
FabFilter? Toneboosters? PianoTeq? Etc????
Pianoteq?? NO WAY!!!
Fabfilter, no…
Most compressors can go. Convolution reverbs can go. Really any "vanilla" reverb or delay can probably go. Mellowsound can go. Probably a lot of basic subtractive synths can go. Probably won't mess with a lot of the "super synths" (i.e. Synthmaster, Butter) with full Alchemy available.
I already have a ton of plugins that for all practical purposes I never use and never have. It'll be interesting to see over the next year which plugins join that list. I'm already culling, but it's tempting to do just a brutal cull of nearly everything and then see what I end up adding back. For maximum cross-platformness, there's definitely a motivation to move away from anything that can be replaced by a stock plugin.
It's an excellent question and one I've been thinking about. I don't expect the Logic instruments and effects to necessarily be better than many of the apps I have but I do think they'll be good enough in most cases for what I do. Besides, it's super easy to reinstall a deleted app if it's needed.
I am a user of Logic on Mac and I havent VST or sound banks just the tools into Logic it is a choice that fit my music . You got one of the best pro synth in the world Alchemy, you got incredible seq and drums tools , instruments sounds and samples are very good pro standard.
If you are not a pro at mixing you don’t need Fabfilter if you are not a classical composer that need the best piano modeling you got pretty good piano. Fx and compressors are good pro grade.
After if you got habit with a specific compressor or effect I understand perfectly that you want to add this one as a VST.
On the IPad I will keep the best pro apps like my fav synth some top FX compressors to use only with Cubasis and AUM. I will use LP without any external AUV3.
On IPad I prefer first to use it LP only stock logins not external AUv3 to be sure to export all to LP on Desktop. At least at this stage.
If you have only LP on IPad you can use the best app you got if you want and prefer to use them. I

I decided to keep all the AUv3 that are bug/glitch free because why not have them available for adhoc inspiration. But the ones with painful UI definitely outta here
It will be here next week so will have to figure out an upgrade to suitable hardware sooner rather then later. Anything that isn’t AUv3 is getting deleted. Bye bye Korg.
I don't see anyone mentioning app size as a factor when cleaning up. That's the first thing I look at. Many synth apps and most FX apps are tiny and deleting even dozens of of them doesn't free up as much space as even one of the larger apps.
I go to iOS Settings > General > [device] Storage and wait for the list to populate. Sometimes there's low-hanging fruit, such as Prime Music that I rarely use but is taking up more than half a gig. Then there are things like BM3, Gadget, that are the equivalent in size of almost 100 AUv3's. Then it's down to deciding which of those top apps to sacrifice to PRO - the God of Logic (hallowed be His Name).
Then there's offloading vs. deleting. Each app shows how much app space and how much user document space is taken. With offloading, the user documents stay and the program storage goes. The nice thing is the app is restored with all your data in tact. But if most of the storage is in user documents then offloading has negligible effect.
Anyway, I posted for anyone who's deleting dozens of apps without thinking about the actual impact on storage. There may be an approach that will save you some time.
(NOTE: Whatever you do, don't turn on the global option to automatically offload infrequently used apps. There's no telling what might be offloaded and when in that case.)
I’ll be keeping a couple of IAA like Borderlands, especially since an update is coming (I hope AU) but yeah most of my IAA will be gone. Thumbjam and DrumJam will stay as well. I’m too attached lol. Maybe Seekbeats too.
So basically how GarageBand is now. I’m always a completionist and want it all “just in case” lol but here I’ll have to make exception and be more selective I think. I’ll probably uninstall a bunch of IAA apps, a few other synths and effects, my other DAWs to free up space but I don’t want the majority of my storage to just be logic.
Probably very few, since generally I much prefer using the apps on my iPad, to the stuff that comes with Logic - though the drummers and more exotic instruments I will definitely use.
Pianoteq stays for sure. It’s so capable and fun. TB and FabFilter will stay as well. Honestly most of mine will stay except a lot of IAA stuff and other DAWs I never gelled with. Might offload my other piano apps now though.
I downloaded all of Logic's content, but on desktop it's possible to put it all on an external drive. Don't rule out the possibility that it'll be the same for the iPad.
This is a good point. I may need to save up for an external drive until I upgrade iPads and use that to store all my samples and extra content.
Seekbeats isn't worth deleting for space reclamation unless you have other reasons for wanting to delete it. It consumes only 7 MB vs. other apps that are in the several hundred MB to multiple GB in size. I think its a good idea to factor storage space into the decision about what to ditch and what to keep.
Korg apps? iM1 = 97mb, iMono/Poly = 50 mb, etc. Gadget = several GB, etc. You get the idea.
All that money spent though….deleted…
Even so I will never use them. When Korg get their finger out I’ll re-down again but I really doubt they’ll update which is a shame.
You could have saved almost just as much space by offloading rather than deleting. That would have saved your presets, etc, and the apps would automatically re-download if you ever do decide to use them for something.
That's right. I have MANY offloaded apps which I might be able to re-download at some point in the future. It's pretty convenient.
Yeah, just painful to do though. I’ve already had to remove a lot of apps, so a lot more will need to go before there’s room for a basic Logic install.
Unfortunately a lot high storage ones are the ones I want to keep 😂 I’m not sure if I could part ways with Gadget. And Module and Wave will definitely stay.
I do need to cull some apps anyway though. And a lot of my DAWs will be going away too sadly. I just won’t have a need for 5 different DAWs on my iPad with Logic.
By offloading you mean going into the setting for iPad storage and “removing the app” correct? So it stays on the iPad but has the cloud next to it? Just making sure I understand.

Yes. When the user created data in the app is much larger than the app itself it won't actually save any space on the iPad/iPhone when it's offloaded, so... your mileage may vary.
Ah gotcha, thanks!
Lol 💯
If I delete apps.
Will I still have my patches saved?
No, not removing, offloading.
Removing deletes your data as well. Offloading keeps the documents and data. Big difference.
Maybe these terms are different / translate differently if using another language in iOS, though.
If the app is large but the data is small then it's a good target for offloading. If documents and data are large then trying to back up data you want to keep and removing the app is the only option.
If you offload the apps, yes. Data (patches) will be saved. If you delete the apps, no. Deleting also deletes the data.
